He installed a screen door and storm door, which he did a good job on. He installed a rolling shade blind but he hung it over the window instead of inside the frame. He damaged the ceiling when installing a fan and did not come close to finishing all of the jobs I requested. It's been two weeks and he is still blowing me off. I want him to fix the ceiling and ceiling fan.
Response from Rob Rota Carpentry
"This is inaccurate information, and it is unfortunate that someone would turn so quickly to try to write a bad review, only in an effort to actually get more work out of me. This is not the way to get me to return to your home; as your review requested. I completed all tasks you hired me for; and I did not take on or charge you for anything more. If I say (for example) "no, I can't move your fridge across the room and re-run your water lines", and never charge you for that task or even the appraisal - this does not mean that I have failed to complete something I was hired for; it means that you were looking for something impossible within the scope of your budget. While working, I conferred with you regarding both the window shades and the ceiling issue that you've mentioned. You had purchased the shades yourself years ago, and they had all been measured incorrectly (some were even missing their proper hardware). I did the best I could with what you gave me. We talked about this, and you even told me that your wife preferred them hung this way. You had me back in your home several times after that, never making any further mention of them until today. Regarding the ceiling: Firstly, when I came to your home to perform this work, you were not at all prepared to have it done. To switch out a ceiling fan one must turn the power off; however on this day you were troubleshooting a computer issue, and told me it would be impossible to shut down any power. (It seems like an obvious thing to me; and this was already after rescheduling with you once before.) As a result I had to modify my schedule again and make new plans; but still, I did not charge you any extra for this. Upon dealing with the fan, yes, it became clear that your ceiling was in such a weak condition that it would get some dents around the base, should I continue to even remove the old one. You assured me having the new one was far more important to you. Your new fan (as it's important for me to note) was not a standard fan purchased from a normal home retailer, but rather a Frankenstein version of three different models that you asked me to put together. Nevertheless, I tackled and completed that task for you, and new your fan unit works quite well today. As you know, I take a great deal of pride in my work; which did make it hard for me to see the MINOR plaster damage around the base. I like to leave things looking better than when I arrived, and I offered a solution to you. Since this was all to do with the conditions of your home, and not the quality of my work, this would be at an additional cost to you (although, not much; my rates are very reasonable and I have you many breaks..). You agreed to schedule that work for the future. As I am quite busy however, this was not something that could be scheduled right away for me, and you made no indication that it was of high importance to you. Again, you were just happy with the look and operation of the new fan (with remote now). Suddenly, two weeks is too long? On a personal note, it saddens me that your review has attempted to paint me as some careless slacker, when you know full well just how much I do actually care about the quality of my work. I find this review and your tactic unfortunate; and I will not be bullied back into your home this way."

Rob is a true professional and a perfectionist.? I am sorry to see that he is no longer in Ne England and would hire him again in a heartbeat if he was still located in Massachusetts.
