I'm very happy that I chose GemSecure. This was the first time I ever had anything appraised (it was 5 watches). Patrick could not have been more conscientious, informative, or helpful. He made the most effective use of our time and efficiently schooled me in the watch resale market. The knowledge he equipped me with was well worth the price of the consultation. Patrick impressed me prior to the appointment in that there was an emergency that came up and he was not able to return to town to make our appointment.  He called me over the weekend, rescheduled, and left me his cell phone number to get in touch if there were any issues.  On the day of the appointment, he was well aware of the firm that had done our previous appraisal and was clearly engaged in the Gemologist organizations in the LA area.  He was thorough and provided me with a tutorial on every item in the appraisal as well as what is driving the price in the market today.  This was a valuable learning experience for me in addition to getting the updated appraisal.  The official document arrived shortly thereafter and I was very pleased with the entire package.

I searched for appraisers in my region (southwestern United States) and finally determined that Patrick Davis was the person I should see. He is an unaffiliated/ independent Master Gemologist Appraiser, and that was just what I was searching for. Most all of the appraisers that I found locally would have had multiple agendas when offering their expertise on values and current pricing.
I was willing to travel any distance to find an unbiased opinion. When I found Mr. Davis in Los Angeles, I was delighted. I flew there and back in the same day and can honestly say that my time and trouble was worth every bit of effort that went into creating and making that trip.  Mr. Davis is a very charming gentleman with abundant expertise concerning gems and all things related to fine jewelry. He offers great customer service as he creates an open discussion about how the appraisal is to be used (insurance purposes, resale, estate valuations,  etc.).  Patrick Davis is truly an expert and he is accessible to anyone who wants to make the effort to see him.  Because he is so good at what he does, he has an incredibly busy practice, so it is wise to plan ahead and call him so that he can get you onto his schedule.

Patrick was great.  He looked at a ring I had found and quickly told me it was not worth very much.  And he did it so professionally that I wasn't embarrassed for wasting his time.

Patrick was prompt and very professional.  I had no idea what to expect and I was very surprised and pleased.  As he works, which is by the way, very fast - he took the time to explain what he was doing and what it all meant.  He educated me on diamonds as well as the process he was using.  Patrick showed me a sample of the report I am to receive in about 2 weeks.  
He was courteous and obviously very good at what he does.  If you need your jewelry appraised - Patrick is your man!

Patrick was extremely professional.  He responded to my request for an appointment within a few hours- with several appointment availability date options, his fees, details of the appraisal process, his appraisal samples, types of appraisals that he offers, his credentials and qualifications, testimonials and reviews etc.. After confirmation of my appointment he also supplied me with detailed driving directions- his office is very easy to get to with free parking!
The appraisal was done in front of me and while he was doing so he explained everything so i could follow along in the process.
Patrick was extremely knowledgeable and kind-  I received a detailed packet in the mail a few days following my appointment- with an additional copy for my insurance company.  I will definitely go to him in the future and will be sure to recommend him to my friends and family!

 I had 3 rings for appraisal.  He looked at all 3 and told me that 2 of them would appraise for less than $1000 and that it wasn't worth my having them appraised.  He gave me an estimated value for each of them.
He then proceeded to examine the 3rd ring and provided me an overview of what he was doing and how he was doing it.  The whole process was relatively quick and I received my written appraisal in the mail about a week later.
Patrick also offered to speak with my son about engagement rings as my son is in the market for one now.  
The experience was a great one and I would definitely recommend Patrick to others.

It worked out great; they are really good. The price included all written documents and photographs; it was really nice. They were very professional.  

Patrick is very professional.  He will explain how the jewelry is rated.  What I liked is he will do the appraisal while you wait.  Other places want you to leave your jewelry with them for several days.

I called GemSecure's office and immediately spoke with Patrick. He was very cordial and professional on the phone. I liked his work ethic very much. Besides his creditials, what drew me to his office were several things:1.  He would do the appraisal while I was right in front of him. I needn't worry about whether the diamonds I left would be the diamonds I got back -- not likely to happen, true - but it does happen2.  With him doing the appraisal right then, I would know then what the value was, not have to wait weeks for an appraisal.3.  He is an appraiser, not a buyer or a seller, period! He has no vested interest in the value of your jewelry.4.  He handles several differant types of appraisal including Estate Appraisals, which require a bit differant handling as they have tax and other concerns.5.  He quoted me a reasonable price of $125.00 an hour - billable in 10 minute increments -- a fair price.
I made an appointent with Patrick. His office was very relaxing and professional. He was on time and personable. I appreciated that Patrick was respectful in explaining the appraisal process, thorough- yet not condesending in any way.  He went through the entire process, not only explaining the appraisal, but also explaining the Estate/Inheiritance issues.
True to his quoted price, he billed me in 10 minute increments - at the end of my Appraisal, my total bill was $85.00. All in all, I highly recommend Patrick to anyone requiring Appraisal of any jewelry for any purpose, whether it be Insurance, Inheritance, or just piece of mind.
