They showed up on time, were friendly and very conscientious in their work.  They listened to my requests and each did a meticulous, thorough job. I am relieved to find a decent person who followed thru, was reliable and trustworthy.  I had several bad experiences with prior contractors and Tim has renewed my faith in the construction business.  I highly recommend him.

Very well.  Tim met with the insurance adjustor and agreed on the work that needed to be done and a fair compensation for that work.  He took care of all the details, including purchasing the replacement vanity in the bathroom in a timely and professional manner.  He even returned  after the tenants discovered a hole hiding in a kitchen cabinet in a timely manner with no complaints.  Tim worked professionally with all subcontractors, even those I hired (plumber, floor, termite exterminator).  Tim is responsive and fair.

Overall I am very happy with the job given my limited budget. Like I expected, I went over budget based on my design choices and lack of hiring a interior designer to draw out the plans. The framer and contract workers worked closely with me on the finishing details since I am particular on how I want things to look on completion. The downside - due to the combination of : the coordination of subcontractors, waiting for permit approval and waiting for fixtures - custom items, the remodeling took nearly 2x's as long as I expected -4 months. Granted, there were days were no one was working and we could not move forward because 1 item or 1 inspector or 1 worker was sick. Overall, Tim is a great guy and really makes an effort to give you what you want given the circumstances and budget. Tim is good at letting you know what is possible and what is not possible. He is also good at making suggestions, a Plan B, if Plan A is not possible. When I show guests and friends the job they always say great things about the work/design. I suggest the customer be as specific as possible, do a lot of research about the fixtures and finishes they want and have visuals available for Tim and his crew, i.e., tear sheets from home magazines or design websites. The more specific the customer's vision the quicker and more efficient the crew will work. Please note that my job was done in the Summer. The Summer is any contractor's busiest work season so they might be working on multiple jobs at the same time.

Their quote they gave was a little high. The quote I got was very detail and that was very helpful. The person was quiet and was pretty methodical. He gave me what I had exactly asked for. I had given him details about how I wanted the quote and he gave me the quote the way I had asked. He did not have much of a personality, but he was fine.

The crew showed up when they said they would and finished the job within one day of the estimated time. Some unexpected problems that could not be foreseen resulted in additional cost and time, but those were not the fault of the contractor.

Tim was the second contractor to give us an estimate and almost immediately we knew he was right for the job. Tim patiently listens to every idea you have, you never feel he's in a rush to leave, nor that your ideas aren't important. Tim had great innovative ideas on how to make little things look better. For example, we had a kitchen bar area that extended oddly into the family room. He suggested knocking that bar area out and making a bar area into the kitchen nook. We couldn't be happier with how it looks. We hired Tim right away and they started almost immediately. Upon meeting his crew, we knew we made the right decision. Every single worker was kind, respectful, very hard working, and very knowledgeable of their trade. They worked quickly and efficiently, but never cut corners. Seeing the day to day progress was a treat, and Tim always made himself available to answer any questions I had throughout the process. The entire job took between 3-4 weeks, and we really couldn't have been any happier with the results. Tim and his crew stand by their work and let us know we're welcome to call if we come across any issues or have questions. Not only did they do an amazing job on the work we paid them for, they helped us out with smaller tasks without charge: installing pendant and flush mount ceiling lights and smaller handy work around the house. If you're undertaking any remodeling projects on your home, I wouldn't hesitate to give Tim a call. I can't recommend him highly enough.

We had had a chronic leak in an upstairs shower with damage to the ceiling below. Had tried several repairs to drain etc but problem kept coming back so in the end we decided to tear out and replace the whole shower. We did the demo ourselves but thought it best to have the new plumbing, fixtures, hot mop shower base, tiling etc by a professional. Found Tim Cox Home Improvement on Angie's List and was impressed by his straightforward honest approach. He listened to our requirements and over the next several days worked with us to provide estimates for various options. One we gave him the go ahead it took a little over 2 weeks to finish the job. All the subcontractors turned up on time and Tim was there to get them started and check the work when it was done. Service included new shower valve and shower head, full tile shower with bench, additional light in shower stall, tile shower room floor, new baseboard, repair water damaged ceiling. Tim also put us in touch with a company that fabricated a custom frame-less glass shower door.

Overall everything went as planned with a few changes as usual. Tim's estimate was very detailed so I knew the flow of the job and the cost of each task. He was always available for questions. The workmanship was very professional from start to finish. There was a carpenter, plumber, electrician, tiler, texturer, painter and cabinet maker that pulled it all together to complete the job on time.

In addition to the demolition of the previous floors in the kitchen and dining room, and tiling these two rooms, Cox also installed the dishwasher and trash compactor. Two problems arose during the installation. First, there were granite slabs in the adjoining front hall that were 1 and 1/2 inches higher than the house slab in the dining room where the tile was to be laid. Because of this, the tile man had to "float" the entire dining room. That meant he had to create a higher subfloor out of concrete on top of the slab. It involved a lot of backbreaking extra work, but owner Tim Cox did not charge for the extra labor, only $300.00 for the added materials. The other problem was that some of the tiles had black splotches on them. After some had been installed, I noticed these ugly splotches that looked as if someone had spilled some foreign material on the tiles during their manufacture. I asked Rick Kenslow, the tile man, to please remove the faulty tiles and replace them with good ones. I said I would be glad to pay for the extra labor, since it was not the fault of Cox Home Improvement that the tiles were not good. Rick was very understanding and did the hard work of replacing ten tiles without complaint. I really appreciated his positive attitude, and that of Tim Cox, as a lot of tile people would have been upset or angry about the extra work, especially after "floating" the whole room previously. In a nutshell, this company did excellent work, and employees were positive, pleasant and honest during the whole project. They were great!

Right from the start Tim was professional, courteous, and pleasant to work with. His bid was detailed and easy to understand. (All 3 bids I got were within $1000 of each other so I felt his was competitive.) We discussed what each of us was responsible for and the bid document reflected those decisions. Tim returned phone calls and emails promptly and showed up when he said he would. Work was completed when agreed. Aside from the actual work that was done, Tim fostered a a sense of trust right from the beginning and you just can't put a price on that. I was able to relax and didn't even have to take time off from work/family for the project. Now that's value!

Tim and his employees stepped in and finished a project started by another contractor. They were able to pick up where the other guy left off and completed the work and did a better job overall than I think would have been done if the first guy had finished. All of the inspections, including the final, passed with no problems. I have also employed Tim for smaller jobs and have been satisfied. He is by far the best contractor I have worked with.
