Rene's Custom Refinishing

Pretty much went okay during the initial stages. After the work was done in the house and they had to take the cabinet doors and front doors, their consistency of finishing started to get behind. After the work was all done, I found a couple of spots that needed attention. Calling them to return was not very effective. They didn't answer, didn't get the message, or any other excuse. Very anxious to get the job, not so anxious to get the fine points taken care of. Nails not properly set, stain not adhering, paint peeling. I got tired of trying to get in touch with them and did it myself.

Shortly after 2012 Christmas, we began deciding what to do for our home project. Approximately three to four months were spent in our planning phase. Once we decided to change the look of the wood in the house, beginning with the entry way, we started looking for contractors to tackle the job.
We took family and friends request first. That accounted for three we contacted. One of the larger firms came, measured, took pictures, drew pictures, left and never followed up. One that had worked extensively with one of our relatives came in very high, as though he didn't want the job and couldn't say no. The third had a very competitive bid.
We went to Angie's List and got about five more potential names. All were sent an email or got a response to their web page request form. As many as possible were contacted to come, talk, discuss, and then bid.
This process took about three and a half months. Finally we were narrowing the field.
We met Rene Guerra through Angie's List. Rene had a competitive bid and was very likeable, a nice combination. Once we got his bid, we had additional questions for more detail. He came back with some samples for the color combinations we had been working with. Prices changed a little during that process, and we finally agreed he would be the one to do the job.
He shows up when he says he is going to be here. He is respectful of our home, protecting everything with covering and moving. Nothing has been broken or damaged in any way. During the cabinet stripping, there were some problems found with the cabinets that he just fixed, part of the job.
The house shows extremely well, has a pop from the time you get to the front door, then when it is open, the stair way draws your attention all the way up to the elevated ceiling open area at the loft. Kitchen, hallways, and bathrooms are all very well done and quite attractive.
Rene is excellent at his work, reliable and dependable. I highly recommend him for any refinishing job, regardless of size.
