We provide affordable in-home lessons in piano, guitar, bass, composition, theory, arranging and songwriting throughout Orange County. I feel I have learned more in the two months from Calvin then from all of the music books I've purchased in the past (and there have been quite a few.) Calvin is an excellent musician and a great teacher. The first thing he asked me to do is name five songs I wanted to learn. So we started my lessons by him teaching me how to play the Brazilian Bossa Nova classic, "Summer Samba". He teaches you music technique and theory but in such a way that it relates to the songs you want to learn so you see progress right from the beginning. And since you're working on something that you want to learn it remains interesting. For instance just today we were working on another classic, "Greensleeves". It is a tune I've always wanted to learn to play with both chords and melody together. After showing me the melody line he explained that every note in the melody was part of the C scale. So I can now see how learning scales can relate to making music and are not just an set of boring exercises that you have to suffer through. Making music and having fun doing it are important to Calvin and his enthusiasm is contagious. I look forward to our lessons and I even enjoy practicing now since I can see progress.

Every lesson has been a great experience. I've seen progress in my technique and range of skill.
Calvin is the second music teacher that we have had come to our home, but the big difference is that our girls now look forward to and enjoy their lessons. They also continue to improve which is another testament to Calvin's teaching skills and ability.
