The chairs were made in Italy and no other upholsterer could figure out how to reupholster them because of the tricky way they were put together. John was up for the challenge and discs beautiful job at a reasonable price.

I purchased the fabric at a wholesale warehouse that John recommended, which probably saved me several hundred dollars. He told me how much material I would need. It was pretty simple. My husband and I were moving between the time John picked up my chair and would be delivering it...a distance of 20 miles further. He did not charge for the delivery. The chair, which I now call my and quot;Happy Chairand quot; is beautifully redone. He also made a matching pillow, arm and back of chair protectors. It's a brand new chair! It's beautiful! I also got smart and put a big scratching post near my Happy Chair and sprinkle it with catnip. My cats don't even bother with the chair any longer. We're all happy. :-)

John gave me a quote over the phone and sent me to a fabric store that had a lot to choose from. Found my fabric and John did a wonderful job that we are very happy with. I needed the work done by 11/1/2013 and it was.

John did a beautiful job, and went way beyond what we expected by correcting a crappy job done by the last guy years ago, and by replacing much of the padding that had deteriorated over the years, which I didn't expect. I always loved the look of the chairs, but they weren't very comfortable. Now they feel terrific.
I thought it was a little pricey, but what do I know? Or maybe I'm just cheap.
I didn't compare prices, so maybe I got a great bargain!
Anyway, my wife and I are very pleased and absolutely recommend Coastline.

I found John thru Angie's List and his work lives up to his great reputation. He recovered a dining bench for me with a heavy material that needed to be and quot;kid proof.and quot; He was easy to work with and very personable. The bench was done in about a week and it looked great. The bench has held up great and I would recommend John to anyone needing upholstery work.

John was knowledgeable, responsive and did exactly what he said he would do at the appointed time. I cannot speak highly enough about his quality and professionalism. I spoke with him about my concerns in not knowing how soft/firm to make the new cushions and he talked me through the material choices and assured me that if I didn't like the firmness, he could adjust that after the fact. I also wanted to change from three separate seat cushions to a single seat cushion for a more modern look. He warned me of a potential problem of having the cushion pop up when sitting in the middle, but also said how he could fix that by adding clasps to anchor the cushion, which has the added benefit of ensuring that the cushion does not slide forward. I could not be happier with the results and I recommend him highly.

They do quality work for a good price. They are very professional and we were happy with the work.

I contacted John by phone, sent him photos via e-mail. He gave an estimate of his labor and yardage that would be needed. We then went to his shop to see some of his work and look at his samples of material. Decided to pick material from his samples (of which he gave a discount). He picked up the furniture, completed the job and delivered the pieces back. He is very nice to work with and the job was well done. I would work with him again.

First of all, John is just a GOOD guy, doing GOOD business! He does honest, quality work and delivers as promised...on time and on budget. I am absolutely thrilled with the upholstery on my reproduction chair. John's work was so impressive, I can't wait for my next chair to wear out just so I can take it to him to be re-upholstered! I definitely will do repeat business with him.

I called John and asked if I could bring in the chair we needed to reupholster. We had found a fabric we liked in a fabric store in LA, but weren't sure how much fabric was needed to do the job. John quoted us a very fair price and told us exactly how much fabric we would need. I left the chair with him and the next day, went to buy the fabric. John told us it would take about 3-4 weeks for him to get to the chair and that was fine with us. He did finish the job in 4 weeks and the chair looks great.
