At 2:00 pm on a Friday afternoon, I turned on my hot water valve in my bathtub to rinse something out. The water was on full blast, and when I went to turn it off, the spigot just turned freely back and forth but the water stayed on. Friday afternoon. 2:00 pm. Oh, also - 4th of July week so lots of people on vacation. Luckily my son in law was able to turn off our hot water, so after 20 minutes of panic, the water was off and I set about calling plumbers. One company I called, which had no technicians available, was kind enough to recommend Tyler Pina at Pina Plumbing Company. I live in Mill Valley, CA, and Tyler's company is in a great location in Corte Madera with easy access to all of Marin and San Francisco. I left him a message and he called back within minutes, ready and willing to do whatever it took to solve our problem. I was lucky, in that my son in law was able to pull off the faucet handle and isolate and remove the cartridge, which we gave to Tyler, and he made it to the plumbing supply store in time to order the new cartridge (we have an odd brand of faucet so our part was not one normally kept in stock). We were able to then reinstall the old cartridge in the "closed" position so that we had access to hot water while waiting three days for the new cartridge. Today, Tyler came to the house and installed the new part. He also spent time trying to help us diagnose a problem with our hot water recirculating system, which he did not charge us for. I highly recommend Tyler, and I will use him again in a heartbeat. He is kind and thoughtful, responsive, and I can tell even by this one set of interactions that he is scrupulously fair with his pricing. As I write this review (July, 2016), I believe Tyler has had his own company for about a year, after a decade working for someone else. I don't write a lot of reviews, but if you are reading this it might be because you are having a plumbing emergency, and you are wondering if you'll find a plumber who knows what he's doing, and who won't overcharge you, AND who will be a pleasure to have in your home.
