A Plus technicians came out on Monday, removed old systems. Tuesday they installed one system and replaced ducting. Wednesday they installed 2nd system and finished fine tuning system. Old systems never really cooled the house and took forever to heat the house.
We had a 95 degree day and the system dropped the temperature in the house from 85 degrees to 72 degrees in about 15 minutes.HOWEVER, the salesman, Seth , made misleading statements to us when selling the system. He told us that we were eligible for a $500 Federal tax credit for 2011 and for the Glendale Water and Power rebate for $500, since we were buying a 16 SEER air conditioning unit. I took contemporaneous notes about the different units we discussed when Seth came over to our house, so I know which units were eligible according to Seth. After A Plus did the work, I asked the company for the paper work I need to file for the tax credit and the rebate. For the tax credit, I needed a certificate from the manufacturer, and for the Glendale Water and Power rebate, i need the and quot;ARI numberand quot; for the unit. The office people were clueless about the 2011 tax credit, all they knew about was the 2010 credit that had expired. It was true that the 2010 credit had expired, but there was also a 2011 credit for a limited amount. They had no clue.I called Seth 4 times over a 2 week period and after one initial conversation where he first told me to go to the IRS website, then told me he would back to me, he never called me back. I finally had to call the office again. They had my cell number, but left me a message on my home voicemail saying that the unit we bought was uneligible.Seth never called me. The company is stonewalling me about the misrepresentations he made about the tax credit and rebate.
I ended up paying $1000 more than I expected based on the misrepresentations that the salesperson made about the availability of the Federal tax credit and Glendale rebate.
"The member bough an XL161 a/c & an XL80 furnace. Although the a/c is rated 16SEER, it is the entire system that factors into the energy rating. His purchase of the 80% furnace lowered the SEER req'd to rate by ARI & disqualified the rebate for Glendale. The FED tax credit req's min 16SEER w/min 95%AFUE furnace to qualify. A 95% furnace costs double the amount of the rebate over what he paid for the 80%. At a typical sales presentation, many models & combination are discussed. Our co. delivers only what was purchased. We had no written indication that the equip combination was intended for qualifying for any specific program. We delivered exactly what was ordered. Because we delivered what was purchased, installed the system according to code and since the unit is working properly, we are unable to provide their desired resolution of $1000.00 compensation."
