Christy and her crew were fantastic! In one day, they transformed my back yard. Now, months later, I have the yard I dreamed of for a long time! Can't recommend them highly enough!

Great! Christie came out ahead of time and talked through the project with me. The crew arrived right on time on the work day. As we talked it through again, we revised the plan, coming up with something I liked even better. The crew was hardworking and polite. And, so efficient! They were done hours before I expected. Would definitely use these folks again!

Based on a general design by a landscape architect that called for several paths to run through our hillside, she and her team applied originality and sensitivity to the topology to create beautiful, curved pathways which we have had multiple positive comments on and we love. One of her team, is very talented with stone, and created several stone walls for us along the paths, along the driveway as well as used stone to augment other areas around trees, etc. She had many original ideas, including using two slices of redwood trunk to form a built in seat along the pathway. She used flagstone for our front patio as planned by the architect and designed a very charming pathway with brick set sideways in a pattern leading from our lower driveway to lower apartment. Irrigation incorporating 10 zones was well planned and lighting just perfect. We found it very easy to communicate with Christie and her team, she was flexible, competent, they kept the work site as neat as possible. Our questions were taken seriously and answered completely. We feel her prices were very reasonable, and sometimes we asked her to do tasks outside of the original plan.

Christie did a great job with the design. She understood the aesthetic I wanted in each yard (Mediterranean in the front and calming in the back), and achieved both. She is very knowledgable about plants and the microclimates in the Bay Area, and her designs used plants that would thrive. Christie also incorporated existing plants into the design, where possible. Most importantly, she listened to me and solicited my input on the design and on specific plants. Christie has a great crew, and the men do fabulous work. It is very clear they respect her and want to do their very best for her and for her clients. Christie also goes out of the way to continue to provide her clients with garden support after the initial design is installed. She does not leave her clients "high and dry" after the installation and she has been available to me for even the smallest matter, like fixing a broken irrigation valve. I would not hesitate to hire her again.

The owner, Christie Reed, is very casual with business details. I decided on a solid drainage line from the back of my driveway to the street, about 95 ft. sloped 3/16" per ft. The work was drastically sub parr. She illegally started digging before PG&E came out and marked the gas line. Her crew of six dug the trench then connected the pipe while others installed the drain box and others back filled the trench even while the pipe was still being connected. I noticed the drain box was installed 2 inches higher than the driveway so the water would not flow into the box until a ten foot pool formed. Her crew lowered the box below the driveway. They were in a rush to get to another job. The next day I checked the drain box, it was 2-3 inches lower than the driveway which was only three feet away. This would make a concrete ditch in the walkway. The box was also tilted 1 inch in 12 inches side to side. I pulled out the drain box. The holes they drilled in the corners of the box so as not to have standing water were drilled of the side corners an inch from the bottom. I drilled holes in the bottom corners, raised and leveled it. I then measured the slope of the installed pipe. It was less than 1/8"/ft. with a section that went uphill and two sections virtually flat. They came back out and dug up the pipe and I acted as their Q.C. guy as as they tried to make a 3/16 per ft. slope. One guy said they were making a 1" in 10 ft slope, another crew guy said 1-1/2" per 10 ft slope, both notions were less than the 3/16"/ft. contract slope. They didn’t have clear or correct instructions. Christie came back to the job site. Then they had to adjust the downspout inlet pipes to be closer to the wall. I was lied to about why the couldn't be closer to the wall. They told me the foundation concrete was in the way. This was a bold faced lie as these same inlets were correct on their first installation and my foundation, where this occurred, has no footings being the 1912 battered style. They just didn't want to do the work. On the inlets, they used one 90 degree couplings instead of two 45 degree couplings making maintenance difficult to impossible. I wanted a concrete box, Christie said couldn't get one and said it would be cheaper to use plastic; Her bill was no cheaper with the plastic box. I asked for a discount since I was working as her Q.C. person. Christie said no, she would make less money. When they finished I said to Christie "At least you will not have to come back here" She said "If we do, we'll have to bury you in the trench." By threatening death, she is acting like Trump. Picture shows the Drain Slope measurement of first installed pipe with gauge sticks about 15 ft. apart. I have photographs of the bad work.
Response from Reed Landscape Studios
"There are quite a few assertions in [Member Name Removed]'s review that I'm very uncomfortable with, but in essense [Member Name Removed] was absolutely right that the original job was done poorly, and not as we agreed to, or as I had instructed. We did not hesitate to come back promptly and do the job correctly, actively soliciting his feedback during the entire process. Although it sounds like he might have felt put out by the "quality assurance" work, I felt it was important to have his input and confirmation. I was quite surprised to wake up to this review. [Member Name Removed] was not in attendance when we discussed slope, and ways to calculate slope, which we did before and during the reparation using [Member Name Removed]'s great graphical analysis. In defense of my guys, 3/16ths inch per foot is a difficult concept for someone raised on metric and not fluent in English to converse about. They had been instructed to drop the pipe 1.875" per 10' section. [Member Name Removed] approached me regarding the fit of the drain extensions against the wall - he was right, the guys were tired and if they effectively lied to him, they didn't get away with it. The guys and I worked together on the correction. I also worked side by side with them on the grading and compaction. I would be very surprised if there were a problem with flow towards his home due to our work. I had completely forgotten about the issue with the concrete vs residential use plastic box and promptly adjusted his invoice when asked to do so this morning. I'm sorry [Member Name Removed] had such a negative experience and that he interpreted my joking in response to his statement the way that he did. I wish him no harm. We work hard to do every job correctly and satisfy our clients. This was certainly out of the ordinary for us and very instructive."

Great experience. Christie called ahead to reschedule the original appointment time, which was fine because she was able to schedule the work to be done very quickly. The work was done professionally. The worker did forget to include a minor component of the job (non-critical extra valve), but Christie compensated with additional equipment and much-appreciated consultation services.

on first visit - no call  no show.
I called them after he was one hour late.
I rescheduled another appointment.  Did show up on time and work good.
Work was done without telling me the cost as he did not know the cost.
After several weeks and no bill, I called to find out the cost of the work done.
Cost was good and I did have them come back to fix a few more sprinklers.

It went great. Christie was very professional, accommodating and easy to work
with.  She was flexible in working with our hectic schedule.  Christie
was knowledgeable and eager to help us make decisions about the changes we
wanted  now in our irrigation system.  She gave us helpful, knowledgeable advice about many of our current shrubs, plants and lawn.  I really appreciated having someone educated me on the watering needs of my entire front and back yards. We intend on using her and her team for future yard plans.

Christie had drip lines installed on the whole hill, even in areas where I never planned to have landscaping.  I guess communication could have been better.  I was concerned because there was water underground in the old system, and I broke into these lines when planting shrubs. The new drip had tapped into the old lines and both were active.   It seemed that I had to be concerned about both lines.  I was concerned at first, but now happy when I see how much better my shrubs are.

Most of the work was performed while we were out of town. We came home from vacation to a beautifully landscaped yard! She made changes that we requested with no problem at all. Now we want to finalize the job and hopefully be done until our next project!

She was really good, but she was not good on her quotes. She doesn't estimate properly. You think you are getting something for $300 and you get a bill for $600. She doesn't estimate the time right. The service was good. She is great at ideas. Make sure if you use her, hold her to her quote because that is what I had to do.

Christie made an appointment to come out and check the system.  She said she would be out at 7, and arrived right on time.  After reviewing the system and seeing what the problems were, she gave an estimate of $550 to do the repair.  She said that they would be out on Friday between 9-9:30.  They arrived on time and started the repair.  After getting into the repair, they found that they didn't need to install additional underground lines as they were already there.  After completing all of the work that was needed, the total for the work done was only $474.   I did have problems that weekend, getting station 2 to run.  I'm not that familiar with the timer's, as I had just recently purchased this home.  I sent Christie an email saying that I was having problems with getting station 2 to run.  She went online and found the user manual for my system and emailed it to me.  She also came out the same day to make sure it was running properly.  I would highly recomment this company.  Christie is really great to work with, and I'm very impressed, that although she quoted a higher price, she only charged time an materials.
