R & S Erection of Concord, Inc

Our dual estate gates with elite operators have recently been serviced by RS Erection of Concord. They've always arrived on schedule and we couldn't ask for more qualified technicians. Security gate systems like ours at times require more than one service call to perfect after a malfunction but in every instance over the past twelve years RS Erection has performed well. Most recently we were impressed with Johnny of RS Erection who quickly and efficiently diagnosed a limit switch and wiring issue affecting the timing of one gate. We use an Re-1 entry system and would wholeheartedly recommend them for gate services.

The scheduler was very helpful and understanding of my time restraints. I work in San Francisco and commute by BART; which can be a challenge at times. The serviceman arrived just a little early, very professional and courteous.

Misunderstanding over scope of work

Very smoothly. They showed up when they said they would, one day after I called. Will was professional, installed the opener and showed me how to use it.
I would recommend them and use them again.

One morning we found the wrought iron gate to our courtyard fence hanging on open with one of the hinges broken open. The gate was 25 years old and we had attempted to take good care of it, keeping it sealed and painted. But the years had taken their toll.  I called around to find someone to repair the gate quickly as it blocked entrance to our front door.  I was very frustrated after speaking to various Iron  professionals who either charged a fortune including a large fee to just show up or who didn't want to be bothered with small repairs. Then I got a hold of R & S Erection of Concord. They were polite, eager to help, offered a free estimate. When their estimator came out he was very knowledgeable and professional. In evaluating the needed repairs he noticed without being told that the gate lock box no longer latched. He offered to include that in the estimate. His estimate was reasonable for the time and work required. The workman showed up punctually and finished the work in just two or three hours. He fixed the hinges, the lock box and in addition, repaired a small weld that had broken on a fence support.  We are very happy with the work that R & S. Erection of Concord did on our courtyard gate and we are thrilled to know exactly who to call in case of any future repairs might be needed. I highly recommend R. & S. Erection of Concord!

I called R&S Erection to fix a problem with my gate. One of the gate doors did not function. The secondary actuator was not working, so the gate did not open. They sent someone out in a few days. There service fee is $125. He looked at the gate, switched the wire, then said the board was bad. That was Friday 5/6/11. He said the quote for a replacement would come on Monday 5/9/11. It didn't. I called on 5/10 and 5/11, and was told to wait for it. I waited another week. Nothing happened. My gate still didn't work. So I downloaded the manual and tried to fix it myself. I ordered the circuit board and installed it. The secondary actuator now worked, but the door didn't stop where it was supposed to. So I called R&S again. I told the secretary what was going on, and she said Justin would come out again. I asked if the $125 I already spent covered the visit. She said it did, I would just pay for parts. So he came out again 5 days later. He spent 1.5 hours looking at it. He did manage to program the keypad to call our cell phone, but did not program it to open the door, which was the whole point. He said I needed to have the interconnect cable under the driveway replaced because it is too short. He then left with $187 more money. The gate still didn't work. I called R&S and was told that for him to come back and fix it I would have to pay emergency rates. I asked to speak to a manager. None were available. I asked again, and eventually got a woman who said she would talk to Justin and call me back. She never did.
The manager called the next week. When I spoke to him he said he sent the quote on the wire (2 people to do the job). I had fixed the wire problem myself. There was plenty of wire to reach the wire junction. 
So either the staff is incompetent, or dishonest. The wire problem did not require the proposed expensive replacement. I fixed it without a problem. He could have on the second visit, rather than asking for "emergency" rates to come back.
The receptionist said I would not pay another service charge, but then billed my wife for one anyway.
I cannot tell if they are dishonest, incompetent, or just don't care. Whichever the case, they do the industry an injustice.
