Fernando Flores

Originally we were happy with Fernando and his helper. Unfortunately he turned out to be dishonest and unreliable.
We hired Fernando to do regular weekly maintenance on our property. Part of the reason we hired him is because of his pleasant personality and willingness to be flexible around which tasks would be done. I like to garden and have been rehabbing my property for quite a while. There is still more to do, and I relied on Fernando and his helper to assist me in keeping up.
I was happy with our arrangement for nearly a year. Then all of a sudden he started not showing up on the scheduled days, with no contact from him. When I called him asking what happened he sincerely apologized and always had an excuse: "I was sick," or "because of rain last week we are behind schedule," or even "I just got too busy and ran behind schedule." At first I gave him the benefit of the doubt, but this actually became a pattern. Also, at one point I began to notice that his helper was the only one showing up, and soon the amount and quality of work being done began to fall off. Weeds were not being pulled and were growing unchecked, edging was not being done around lawn and patio stones, hedges were growing wildly. The lone guy would show up, mow the lawn, blow some leaves, and depart quickly. After speaking with Fernando numerous times it became clear that he simply didn't care, that his business had grown so much that he just didn't have time to do my property anymore, and frankly didn't need my business. He must have more profitable jobs that were more important than ours.
When we hired him, he did good work as a gardener. By the time I fired him he had become just another "mow and blow" low quality service with no respect for his customer or the garden he was caring for. I have since hired someone who does a way better job at a lower cost. I emphatically do not recommend Fernando Flores.

Their pricing is competitive and better compared to the bigger companies. Their people are friendly to work with. They are local. The work is very good. If the work is not what I wanted, they are pretty happy to correct things. They perform what they promise to do and they didn't try to increase the price in the middle. Even the stuff that I decided to add on, he was very reasonable in negotiating. I recommended them to somebody else.

BAD

I am very happy with the work that he does and I would definitely recommend him. I think he's great. Since it's long distance, he's reliable and prompt. If I need extra work done, he will personally call me to discuss it and get approval to continue with the job. His prices are comparable to other places in the area. I would highly recommend him.
