"In Abraham Lincolns words, "you can please some of the people some of the time but you can’t please everyone all the time." Yes this customer had an installation of vinyl flooring by my company and yes there were a couple of issues. 1)She did not like her first salesperson as a matter of fact she did not like anyone that worked in her home. (other contractors, and she was very vocal about it) The customer selected a green rubber base in our store. We confirmed the selection with a checklist. The customer signed the checklist to confirm her selections. She did not like the color of the base once it was installed. I did not like the color either. I offered to change it to a color that would better complement her cabinets or even give her a wood base at no extra charge. 2)The installer used a white caulk to seal the door jambs. I believe almond would have been a better choice so I explained I would change it. 3)The seam behind the toilet did not have sealer applied. This is a no-no and is not acceptable it must be sealed. 4)I felt a soft spot in her subfloor under the underlay I felt the soft spot should be repaired and the floor replaced. This customer said she would be happy with a credit in the amount of $350.00 I did not think I would be happy with a credit if it were my home. I volunteered to replace the entire job at my expense and apologized for any inconvenience. She thought about for a while and agreed to let me replace the floor. We re-installed the floor several months ago. I called the customer right after the install and she said she was very happy with the results. Now several months later I find this negative comment from this customer. Nothing made by man is perfect, but if given the chance I will do my best to please my customers. I thought I did."
"Our home visit policy at Carpet One of Concord, CA, is: We believe in the importance of understanding a customer’s concerns, needs and wants before a selection of flooring is made. In every instance we prefer to visit your home and make sure we understand your special concerns. We visit your home without preconceived ideas or a desire to sell you what we have the best profit on. We will bring your selections if you made any while on your initial visit to our showroom as a place to start. When we visit your home we can begin the journey together of determining what materials will best meet your needs. For example with wood, laminate, vinyl or ceramic tile floors, while at your home we look at, exterior drainage, raised foundation ventilation and the moisture levels of your subfloor as well as transitions to other areas. In a kitchen we check if your dishwasher and refrigerator will fit in their space or will the dishwasher will be trapped by the height of the new floor. Will the cabinet above the refrigerator too low to return the refrigerator after the new materials have been installed? With carpet we want to determine where your natural light sources are located, how much natural light you have, what type of lighting you have (incandescent or florescent) lighting will effect color, also we look at furniture placement, seam location, pivot points “where you step and turn” we look at your traffic lanes. We consider your style of furniture and the style of your home. We even look at the height of your doors due to existing carpet or flooring “will they need to be cut?” or will there be too much space under them if we used a lower height material. Once we measure and evaluate your areas we can explore options in our showroom. Usually we ask you to revisit our 5000 sq ft showroom to either reselect or finalize your selections after you welcomed us into your home to evaluate your needs. If follow up is needed in your home our staff will be happy to return with additional samples and make sure, with you, that the materials are the ones that will to be the best value and design for your needs. We want you to be a satisfied customer not just the day you buy but everyday you enjoy the products and services you selected."
