680 Movers

Two weeks ago we arranged for 680 to move our bakery business (e.g. equipment and supplies) across town in Redwood city. We explained that we needed to move our business on a Sunday after the day's production finished at 9am, so that we would have time to setup our stuff Monday in the new space, to be ready restart baking on Tuesday. They said they understood our needs, and we signed a contract for them to move us and paid a deposit. This morning (Sunday) at 10am -- the very hour that they were supposed to show up to begin the move -- we received a call saying that they were going to be unable to move us today. No credible explanation as offered and they did not offer a replacement service. This is a disaster for us professionally because many things depended on this move happening on the pre-arranged day. For example, we pre-scheduled inspection of our new space with the town for Monday, and will now have to reschedule the inspection (and who knows how long that will be!) given that our equipment will not be in place. And even if we're able to arrange a moving company for us in the next few days and reschedule the inspector for the next day, we'll be missing a substantial amount of production time. This failure will cost us tremendously, at a time when so few of us can afford it. 680 Movers -- you really need to consider compensating us for our loss!

They were wonderful people to work with, very professional. They carefully wrapped our big things up (bedroom sets, sofas and so on) in plastic and then cloth for extra protection, packed our things carefully as we had some odd stuff, and were very careful with bringing our stuff out of the house and in. They got stuck in traffic and then when they arrived at our new destination, they realize they couldn't park on our driveway because of the steep hill. They did not complain AT ALL. Brought everything up and then had to go up the stairs to the house and then some more stairs for some rooms on the second floor. Not a peep of complain. And they did not charge me extra because of the steep driveway and all those stairs. WOW. I would hire them again in the future and would recommend them to everyone!

From our experience talking to several moving companies, we learned something everyone should keep in mind when hiring a moving. While some movers may be a bit faster or slower than others, the number of person-hours required for a move depends mostly on how much stuff there is to move and pack and distance from the truck to the front doors). In terms of price, compare companies on their hourly rate and the size crew not their total estimate. An estimate that's 20% lower because they think it will take 2/3 the time, is actually MORE expensive. Also, unless you're moving a 2-bedroom apartment or smaller, it's worthwhile to pay for a larger crew to do things faster. These guys we're great. Gave us a detailed estimate and we able to fit us in a week later. They were accurate on how many men they needed and how long the job would cost. Their hourly rate was in line with the other movers we contacted. But they did what they could to save us some money. I had purchased some gently used boxes and they had no problem using those rather than charging us for their new boxes. Also provided as many wardrobe boxes as we needed at NO cost, as long as we emptied and returned them at the end of the move; that's a huge saver as these boxes are expensive. The guys all worked really hard and found a way to make everything fit in the trucks. In unpacking, we didn't find anything significant that was broken. They were happy to re-assemble beds and bed frames and help us position larger heavier items (such as 8' bookcases) where we wanted not just leaving them in the right room. While they didn't cut corners, the lead was very conscious of our costs.

They were quick and attentive and reasonably priced.

680 Movers delivered as promised.  They arrived early, worked quickly and efficiently and we were moved to our new location before 2:00 p.m. that day.  They shrinked wrapped upholstered furniture and blanket wrapped the hardwood furniture.  It was really a terrific job.  They were extremely careful with all of our belongings and everything came through we no problem -- and we had packed all the boxes ourselves so probability of breakage from bad packing was a big possibility.  We would absolutely use them again and would recommend them to others.  Thanks guys -- great job!!!

I've moved at least a dozen times, and this was one of the smoothest I've had. The team was professional, efficient, fast, and took good care of our belongings.  My only complaint, and it's a small one, is that they weren't always fast to respond to e-mails when organizing the move.  The move itself came off without a hitch.

These gentlemen were fast efficient and very careful with my fragile items. I would highly recommend them.
