I wish I could leave a lesser rating. My fiancé had these guys come out and inspect our furnace since we had just purchased our home. When she scheduled the appointment, she was told that they were running a service special of $118 to do both furnace and ac units. When they left, they gave us bill for $700 for putting on a cheap thermostat and filter. When he left, he told us our system was in bad shape and that the owner would need to come out to quote whole new system (which was between 12-20k but we found someone who will do it for $5500). The owner told us “not to run the system because it was a fire hazard” and went on to suggest mildew in the system. So why were we charged so much for a service call if the system was bad??? Not to mention, when they came out to service it, his workers had got up in the attic in our spare room and completely covered the room in fiberglass as the ceiling fan was running at the time. All our clothes, bedding and carpet are ruined because fiberglass is VERY difficult to remove and need to be thrown out. As a company who prides themselves on “customer safety”, they have put our health at risk. I still have breathing difficulties weeks after they were last here.

It all seems expensive to me, but it is in the same ball park. The responsiveness was good. I don't have any bad remembrances of them.

We're using them now.  They're doing duct work in a condo that we own.  It's an excellent company.  They don't try to up-sell you or over sell you.  They do your needs.  Like I said back then the duct work was still good.  Now it needs to be replaced.

The work went good.  It was an emergency on a Saturday and they still came out.  It was a little expensive but they did an excellent job with the work.

The original estimate-to-complete was estimated to be three days and took four.

The house (apx 3000 sq ft) was built in 1978 and of course provided some surprises once technicians Devin and Chhun began the job. Devin explained the anomalies they discovered and the steps they were taking to resolve those.

When it wasn't possible to increase the size of the grills in my problem bedrooms upstairs, they increased the diameter of the ducts. Results: stronger air flow and the rooms stayed wonderfully cool even during the recent heat wave. When I was unhappy with scratches on the new a/c unit (right out of the crate), back it went without complaint.

They hauled away all the old equipment including the original concrete a/c pad, cleaned away all traces of their work at the end of each day, neatly repaired the necessary cut through the drywall in the garage.

No high pressure selling...got what I needed with the upgrade I wanted. Any changes to plan were explained in advance; no additional charges were incurred. One delay due to scheduling but the system was working in time for some serious late summer heat.

Devin and Chhun were prompt, courteous, and very professional. Happy with my new system and the service I got from Avis.

Our a/c went out. They instilled a new forced air unit, new ducting as well as high effectuate addict insulation thus reducing the time limit the a/c unit runs. Can't give any amount saved because we had solar panels installed at about same time.

Called about a bathroom faucet repair - only needed the cartridge replaced and could not find the part (waterfall faucet). I called my old plumber to find out his company was bought by Avis. The person answering the phone greeted me with "how can I make you smile today"?? (did I call a dentist accidentally?). They sent someone to the house who told me that these parts were impossible to find and faucet would best be replaced...to the tune of $400 - but you could also join their "club" for a discount. He didn't have the correct parts and would call the next day with a final price and do the job. Days went by with no calls from these clowns...so I replaced the faucet myself for about $40. Also, the cartridge story was a lie - found one on e-bay for $15. They did finally call me back a week or two after I did my own repair...no apologies for ignoring a customer. I was ripped off by this company and would've been ripped off more had I let them talk me into their overpriced faucet. I hope others read this and don't make the mistake of using these idiots!

I called Avis and they answered promptly at 7:30 in the morning. I told them that my water heater pilot had gone out and I was unable to get it lit again. They said they would send someone out. I asked if they could "fix" my water heater because it was only 8 years old, and she told me that they could fix almost all types and they called their trucks "parts warehouses on wheels." It would cost me 85 dollars for the service call which I agreed to. The tech arrived on time and was able to get the pilot re-lit but he said it would go out again and soon. I needed a new water heater. He couldn't fix this type. But fortunately for me they had the very best.....they only sold one kind. All the other types were no good. Unfortunately for me they wanted 1600.00. This was way over my budget. He offered to lower the price to 1100.00. But I decided to see if I couldn't get it "fixed" instead. My wife spotted a number on the side of the tank, an 800 number. The Tank was a Kenmore and so calling Sears now suddenly made sense to me. Their tech came out right away too. Told me that the heater was still in warranty, replaced the offending part and just charged me for labor.I must say that the Avis tech, Bob, was very personable, knowledgable, courteous and probably felt really bad that he couldn't fix the heater, although he didn't say that. Of course he took the 85 bucks

It all started with the letter that I received in the mail from A-Avis Plumbing Heating and Air, Inc. We got our first letter from them in 1998 and have been using them for all plumbing heating and air. We had Avis put in a brand new package unit on our roof at that time. They were so very professional then and still to this day we are extremely satisfied with their professionalism. We have seen them grow and help us grow as a customer with their knowledgeable and courteous technicians. We recently needed a new roof, so we had Ed and Colby Ballard come to our house and give us an estimate on a new split system, we ended up having them replace our package unit to a complete split system. Chris Fontana and Anthony were very clean, neat and used drop clothes everywhere in my home. They even wear shoe covers on their shoes. :) They also gave a full run down on the thermostat and how the system will benefit our needs. Chris and Anthony also put in an April Air and Air Scrubber for my daughters allergies. When we have plumbing issues we call them and they are here the same day or next morning, Alisha has always been so gracious when answering the phone and setting up my service calls. I guess because of our loyalty to Avis they are loyal to us. We have a continual service agreement with them, all they do is call when we are due for our visits, they come out do their work in a professional manner. We are now in the process of having them blow insulation in to our attic and replace our old duct work. Thank you again Ed and Colby Ballard for all you do for us. I recommend you and your team to all my family and friends. Michele and Dave Hoffner

I don't like their products. When they first installed my air conditioner, they found the area wet, and with out consulting us installed the equipment outside on the side of the house, instead of inside. It looked horrible, and my neighbor was shocked, as was I. They finally resolved the problem, but we feel they should have asked us how we wanted the AC installed. On the other hand, one of the guys in the office provided us with a space heater, until they could install the new furnace. That was very kind, and we really appreciated that gesture.

Edited to Add: The owner, Mr. Ballard came out to my home on March 5, 2012 because he had seen my review. We spoke about the situation and he assured me that he spoke with his service personnel. He patched the holes that had been left on the outside of my house with liquid nail. The service people that have come out since have been very polite and I haven't had any additional problems since then. The unit seems to be working fine.

We were interested in lowering our AC bill and so opted for a very efficient AC (18 to 20 SEER). Fourteen months later (2 months after the Labor Guarantee was expired) we discovered the PVC pipe placed when the unit was installed was leaking. Avis repaired it for $168.
Then when we had our roof replaced a year later, the roofing contractor found that the Heater unit Avis had installed was not connected to the vent going through the roof. AVIS HAD INSTALLED IT WITH THE HEATER VENTING INTO THE ATTIC!!!
We have since had further need of repair to the PVC piping draining the water from the AC... Avis did not allow an adequate angle to the pipe so water did not drain out of the pipe adequately.

The work was excellent. They were professional and quick. They did the job as planned. It is still sort of in progress. I’ve had them do other work in the past. They installed heating and air. I had a maintenance agreement with them in the past. Their price is very competitive with others.

I am happy with the finished product except that they didn't insulate the new pipes. 10 years ago they put in a new heating and air conditioning system and that worked out well. They are very prompt and have a variety of choices for maintenance contracts. They are an easy company to work with.

HE WAS VERY FAST. HE WORKED REALLY QUICKLY. HE CLEANED UP THE AREA AT THE BOTTOM OF THE SINK. THE PRICE WAS REASONABLE. I CALLED TWO OTHER PLUMBING COMPANIES. I THINK BOTH WERE THROUGH COUPONS OR THE PHONE BOOK. BOTH SAID THE COMPLETE PLUMBING WOULD BE $400.

THEY DID A GOOD JOB. THEY FOUND THE LEAK AND REPAIRED IT. IT WAS AN EXPENSIVE JOB. I DID NOT SHOP AROUND TOO MUCH, BUT IT IS AN EXPENSIVE JOB TO HAVE DONE.
