Time To Fix It

I hired Peter Doesburg to install new windows in my home, and trim out the windows on the inside of the house. He started the second week of November and was not done with the windows by the third week in January. This is a two day job.I had to hire another company to come in and remove the windows (Doesburg had used caulking, not sealant to install the windows) and re-install and finish trim. It took two guys one day to complete. Doesburg also started to build a deck for me that was a complete disaster. I wish I could post pictures of it here to show you. Nothing was even or straight. He billed my credit card for the entire job up front BEFORE starting work on the deck. When it became clear to me that he did not have the ability to complete the job satisfactorily and that he had already billed me for materials I had not received yet I closed the job down and asked him for my money back. He said he would give it to me and then played games with me about it, eventually not taking my calls .I ended up winning a judgment against him in small claims court. He has not paid what he owes me, nor have I heard from him since. If you're considering hiring him to do handyman work, I'd suggest you search the California Contractors State License Board database for him, and read what it says. License # 727683.
