If I were to describe my experience working with Laura Dandoy in one word, it would be nightmare. I recently was in escrow to buy a home from Ms. Dandoy and her client; the experience was complete and utter chaos. Let’s start with the fact that Laura listed a home for sale that wasn’teven in her client’s name. The title of the home was in someone else’s. Laura had no clue until we were in Escrow and my realtor had begun doing her due diligence. She was so very apologetic at the time and assured us they had the documentation to get this fixed, it just needed to go through the courts process. We were assured it was all very straight forward, and escrow only needed to be extended 90 days. Yeah, right. Laura and her team delayed filings with the court by almost a month, all the while telling us everything had been done. Every time we asked for proof, she couldn’t provide it. Finally, almost three weeks later she gave it to us – the filing date was just days before. From there, my agent would try to check in periodically with Laura, which seemed to annoy her. After a few months, her behavior became hostile, and any time we reached out to check in, she was rude. Even using expletives and hanging up on us! Completely unprofessional. She told us the house was being sold WAY under value, and that the closest comparable in the area was listed for $880K. I thought this was particularly funny. This house sat on the market for 24 days before the price dropped from $769K to $749K. I’m also pretty sure we were the only offer they got on the property. So this house is worth $880K? LOL, OK. Finally, after fourth months of waiting, the courts made their decision. Did Ms. Dandoy reach out to us to communicate the rulings? No. She didn’t even bother to return my realtor’s calls. My realtor was able to find out the court decision on the court website. When we finally got ahold of the Ms. Dandoy and tried to get an inspection set up, Ms. Dandoy vehemently denied such a request and said that it would be 2-6 weeks longer because more paperwork was needed. At this point it was almost April, and we had begun this nightmare in the second week of December. We could not wait any longer and had to move on with trying to find our dream home. This had become too much of a nightmare. I also want to mention I never even got to meet Ms. Dandoy in person. See, the weekend they had an open house, she wasn’t there and had her daughter run the event for her. I am writing this because I would want to know these things if I were ever considering doing business with Laura Dandoy, as a buyer or a seller. If I saw her name on a deal, I would immediately run. I have already told all my friends and family to steer clear as they have seen second hand the nightmare this has been. I could never recommend working with someone who doesn’t bother to be present for her own events, perform basic due diligence, or even act as a normal human being. We deal with enough self-righteous egomaniacs in society, why deal with them when it comes to big things like this? I'd rather pay 2% commission to someone who is kind.
