The trainee was left to do the sealing of the outside by repairing 2 10 x 16" metal screens (and wood trim) where previous workmen had cut to do pumping repair. These are the vents that allow air to flow under the house. He was also left to put steel wool and steel mesh in the roof facia/house area and a hole that the rats entered. The trainee was a very slow worker and did not know how to do carpentry. He finished the wood frame that holds the metal screen for the basement with square cuts, not mitered and decided to use wood screws to fasten it all with instead of a mitered frame that had been wood glued and fit in with grout and cement plaster. He left screws, metal bits, and parts of the screen he used near where he installed the basement screens and did not clean up.
Apparantly, their trap worked by injuring the rat that was there but did not kill it. Instead, it bled a lot and fell thru the plastic that we had taped to the downstairs ceiling The first I noticed was the morning after they set the trap and found a bunch of blood, pee, rat poop and rat hair on the floor of the downstairs bathroom. I went looking around for the rat and found it in the living room. One of my cats saw it also and the rat froze. I shooed the rat into the kitchen then shut all the doors so it couldn't get out. Our cat fallowed it into the kitchen and 'played' with it a while. I opened the back door and the rat left, cat trotting behind.
The owner apologized profusely about this, saying that rats sometimes get out. I don't know if it was the placement of the trap being too close to the hole to the downstairs bathroom or what, but when I asked that he do something to seal the hole temporarily so nothing could drop again, the trainee put in a steel mesh and screwed it into the ceiling of the downstairs bathroom.
We never got another bite. The owner did come in to help the trainee when the roof facia work progressed to an area that was a 2 man job.
They sprayed the rat area behind the wall with a spray. Thjey said they don't clean up the rat droppings because the spray they use disinfects everything and sanitizes the smell. Before we do a final seal of the wall, we will vacuum ourselves. Have noticed a lot of flies lately but they aren't carrion flies and it could be because we have the windows open more with the temperate weather. They give a guarantee against future infestation. See their website for details.
and quot;Ghost Bustersand quot; of course! :-)
Well, we didn't have ghosts, but we definitely had some uninvited furry guests taking up residence in our attic and after a LOT of research, we finally found the best company for the job - TrapMasters, a family owned and operated company with years of experience and expertise.
If you've got bugs, call an exterminator or pest control company, but if you've got 4 legged creatures of any size living with you or around your property uninvited, these guys are truly and quot;Mastersand quot; at serving eviction notices to unwanted creepy critters. And they do it without using poisons of any kind!
Not only do they make sure they remove every last one of the critters, but TrapMasters gives you a 3 YEAR MONEY BACK GUARANTEE they won't get back in once they've sealed them out (they refer to it as and quot;animal exclusionand quot;.)
As I said, I did a lot of homework before choosing TrapMasters, calling several different companies, getting bids and asking about their techniques, procedures and guarantees as well as reading every review I could get my hands on (Angie's List, Yelp, etc.)
TrapMasters only had a couple Yelp filtered reviews (both 5 star), and I almost didn't call them, but I'm so glad I did. Eric Johnson, the owner, answered the phone personally and after speaking with him, I knew my search was over. My only hesitation was his lack of reviews so I asked him about it. Eric explained he had recently expanded to the Sacramento area and that I could find several more reviews on Yelp (all 5 star) under his sister company in the Bay Area - Pacific Wildlife and Rodent Services. http://www.yelp.com/biz/….
Eric's prices are VERY reasonable and competitive. During my research I had spoken with one Sacramento company whose bid was really low, and at first I was intrigued. Then upon further questioning I learned they only inspect for rodent entry points at ground level. (The company's liability insurance doesn't allow their workers to go up on roofs.) What a waste of money that would have been as it turned out all our entry points are at or near the roof line! What good does trapping the rodents do if you don't seal up all the existing or potential entry points?
That's where TrapMasters excels. Eric Johnson of TrapMasters is truly an expert in his field. If you've got a rat or other kind of infestation, I encourage you to call him. He makes himself available 24/7. Also be sure to check out his website where you can learn more about him, his background and how extensive his services are. I'm sure glad I did! Our rats and squirrels not so much.
