We have 2 German Shepherds, and do our best to keep the carpets clean and vacuumed every day, but after a year they can get pretty oily from the dogs. It's nice to have the carpets cleaned once a year. We have laminate flooring in most of the house now, but I will still be calling Gooses to clean the bedroom carpets every summer.
During our initial phone conversation, Mike explained how in addition to cleaning my carpets, for a little extra fee he could help remove odors from a couple of areas in my home where my cats have urinated. Because his fee was a little more than I wanted to pay, I asked how much it would be if he didn't do the odor removal treatment and just cleaned the carpets. He sidestepped that question, urged me to do the treatment, saying I wouldn't regret it. I agreed, and we set the cleaning appointment for about two weeks later at 8:30 a.m.
My first gripe is that it would have been nice to have received a confirmation phone call the day prior to the appointment considering the amount of time that had gone by since our conversation, and because the appointment was for so early in the morning. I only received a text from him that morning when he was on his way. He was 15 minutes late, which isn't a big deal, but I'm sort of a stickler for punctuality.
After the cleaning, later that day I received a text from him saying that he had forgotten to apply odorcide to the two areas soiled by cat urine; apparently the final step to treating the areas. He indicated that if I could still smell the urine the next day that he would come out again. I appreciate his honesty in telling me he forgot to apply the product, even though it is irritating that it was forgotten in the first place. However, I would have appreciated it more if he had contacted me to apologize and ask when he could come by to correct the error...not tell me he'll finish the work if I can still smell something. Since I paid extra for the service, the service should be completed in full no matter what. Next day, I could still smell a trace of the urine, and requested that he come out to apply the odorcide the next Monday morning. He agreed, but didn't give any indication of his timeframe.
Come Monday morning, I waited until 9:30 a.m. and sent him a text requesting his ETA. He said it would be sometime before noon. Vague, but ok. So I'm left waiting at home for him to arrive from then till noon. Still no word from Mike by noon, I figured he was a no-show and could not wait any longer to put my toddler son down for his nap in the nursery (a room containing one of the two urine-soiled areas). 15 minutes later, as my son was drifting off to sleep, Mike showed up to finish the job and I had to pull my son out of bed. After the disruption, my son refused to go to sleep. Naptime was a bust, and I had one cranky toddler on my hands :-( All could have been avoided with better communication on Mike's part. Unfortunately, after all this the urine smells are still present.
Bottom line, I do think Mike does great work as far as the carpet cleaning goes, and you will be happy with the condition of your flooring when he's finished. However, unless he improves his level of communication and gains more respect for other people's time, it may come with a dose of frustration.
Mike showed up, was very easy going and yet very focused on what needed to be done and explained how and why his process was going to be the best course of action for general carpet cleaning as well as the specialty urine treatment. He was very confident in the products that he uses, as well as in his technique. I was very happy to see the process go smoothly and he kept me posted with any relevant and informative techniques/processes/comments and even suggested where and what to purchase for our very thick, very long carpets to keep them fresh and renewed. He worked with me and my indoor cats, blocking off areas and blocking the front door gap where his tubing and hoses had to be run through. He was very efficient but not rushed or trying to wrap it up before the job was done thoroughly. He has obviously honed in on his steps for providing this service and due to his confidence in his business and service, he was not hesitant to start where it was best for him and did not wait for instructions on where to begin, did not waver on how to go about his task and he did not make me feel unsure of his competence.
We will be using his throughout the year following this visit and we will be recommending his services.
It was a very comfortable, stress free, worry free, thoroughly completed, and overall great experience.
The job done was great, the house smells good, the urine smell is obsolete and maybe even completely removed before the second treatment gets applied in 2 days and I'm very happy with everything.
