Mike Dobbs performed the construction of our new home. Based on our very positive experience with new home construction, we engaged with Mike to remodel our old home and fix the "deferred maintenance" items.

Mike Dobbs is a craftsman in the true sense of the word. We met Mike Dobbs through Viceroy Homes when we decided to build a custom house based on a design worked up by my wife. We decided to go the Owner/Builder- Panelized construction route, as we could get closest realization of her design that way. Viceroy Homes is a premium Panelized home manufacturer (recommend Viceroy very highly) , and Viceroy sales rep, Bob Hammell , lined us up interviews with three contractors that specialize in constructing Viceroy homes. We selected Mike out of the three candidates after visiting several of his previous and current clients, and observing a Viceroy home that he was currently constructing in the Quincy, CA area.
Looking back, we were very fortunate to have engage in a project of this scope with Mike Dobbs. Mike works with his two sons as a team, and they know how to execute a job. Mike has a talented list of sub-contractors that he works with. As Owner/Builders, we had selected several sub-cons for interior finish work on our own, and they turned out to be disasters, the kind that you here contractor horror stories about. In the end, we went with sub-cons of Mike's team, and were more than pleased with the outcome.
What we found about Mike:1. Very honest, forthright, communicates directly, frequently, no BS.2. Very schedule driven, makes and keeps commitments, even if it means working evenings and weekends.3. Works with his sons in a very tight team4. Work ethic and craftsmanship shows throughout the project.5. Thinks through problems, finds creative solutions6. Has respect of Civil and Structural engineer, so they can work out issues real time, job proceeds without glitches.7. Works well with inspectors, does not cut corners, gets project phases signed off expeditiously8. Really cares about the quality of his workmanship, and sub-cons workmanship. Stays right on top of sub-cons.9. Drives vendors to keep delivery commits, follows up, makes sure that materials are on site to keep workflow going.10. Extremely knowledgeable of all aspect of building trades, sub-cons know this and do not try to deviate from best practices.11. His sub-con teams are also craftsmen, talent attracts talent
We were very fortunate to engage with Mike Dobbs on our home building project. This was a bare dirt up in difficult terrain project , requiring lots of coordination across multiple suppliers and contractors, and Mike worked it competently, professionally, with craftsmanship, and our satisfaction in mind. We highly recommend Mike Dobbs and Dobbs Construction. Based on this experience, we have engaged with Mike to remodel our old home.
Mike is located in Citrus Heights, near Sacramento. He brought his travel trailer to our site in Morgan Hill, and stayed on site while work was performed. He could stay right on top of all phases of construction by being right there and accessible throughout the project. This worked out very well for us, as we could meet up and work through issues real time and Mike could keep project moving.
