Priceless Pets

We went to the Orphanage adoption center and looked at the cats available.  It was a little crazy in there due several adoptive parents and some children assisting in showing the kittens or playing with the kittens.  I'm not really sure.  I only know they were with the center (maybe an employee's children), and and in my opinion, overhandling the kittens.  One kitten was let loose and ran under the cages.  He was too far back to reach.  I've always wondered how long it took to get him back in the cage.  The animals all looked well fed and taken care of.   I have no issues with the health kitten I adopted.
The issue came when trying to schedule appointments for the round of shots.  No one would answer the phone and no one would return my calls.  After a week of unreturned phone calls, I finally just started showing up whenever I felt like it because they failed to contact me.  I understand they are busy, but what kind of company fails to return multiple phone calls?  At the completion my kittens round of shots, she weighed enough to be spayed.  I asked how to set up an appointment and was told to call the number on the business card.  You can imagine my response.  I made it very clear that their customer service was lacking and that contacting the number would not result in a return phone call.  Apparently,  the woman's friend was standing next to me and sent her a text telling her I was upset.  She told me to text her and I would get a quicker response.  I had no idea the number on the card was a cell phone, or I would have tried to text sooner.  Either because I was standing next to her friend or because the contact was via text, I did finally get ahold of the lady and was able to set an appointment for microchipping and spaying.  There were a few other minor problems along the way with the lady mixing up dates, but I'll chalk that up to normal human error and not neglictful custoimer service as the other issue was.
The last issue came when my neighbor mentioned cats over 4 months old were not supposed to eat the night before surgery.  This was the morning of the surgery and my 4 mouth old kitten had access to food all night.  I sent a text and asked what to do since my kitten was 4 months and had food.  When I received the delayed reply it stated it didn't matter and was I at the shelter yet?  Umm, of course not!  I've been sitting here waiting for you to reply to my text and tell me what to do.  She seemed to get upset and told me it was "too late now." 
That was it.  I was done.  I am taking my kitten in tomorrow and paying myself for the spaying and microchipping at another facility.  It is not cheap.  However, it is preferable to dealing with this business any further.  I received ZERO instructions on the spaying.  She never asked how old my kitten was. It is more dangerous to operate on kittens over 4 months that have eaten then it is on an empty stomach.  Why was this not important to her?  In my experience, the lack of professionism was excessive with the Ophanage.  Their goal is a good, one but their procedures are sorely lacking.  I hope they improve with time, but I won't personaly know because I refuse to ever adopt another pet from them.
