I called and they came out for an estimate and we scheduled a day to have the fence installed. They came out and installed the fence and three gates. It looks great and I have had many compliments.

They interfaced nicely with the tenants and the neighbors adjacent to my properties. The results looks good and everything was cleaned up after they were done.

It was the first time we EVER had a contractor walk away from a job because we wouldn't pay him more money for a mistake that he made. It's against the law in California to charge a customer more than the job quote unless both parties agree, but Kirk wasn't going to give up trying. We ended up having another company finish the picket fence (it turned out beautifully) and we also asked for part of the money back from Willard that we paid in advance because it was for more than just the materials. We had to send more than one letter, Kirk's daughter sent us invoices of what they paid for the materials but it wasn't adding up, and eventually we compromised and only got back part of what was owed to us.

No respectable fence company charges a customer in advance, and we knew we didn't have to pay for the entire job ahead of time, but we did pay for the materials so Kirk wouldn't have another fit. He was very unprofessional.

We also discovered just yesterday, 7/27/2011, that his license has been suspended. You can check the CSLB website yourselves for the license status of almost any contractor in California. Willard Fencing's license is under a Contractors Bond Suspension.

Kirk Willard is a very nice man and my experience dealing with him has always been informative and pleasant. He will give the best price he can.

It was fabulous. It took me six tries to find the right company. They were efficient, easy to work with, reliable, their clean up was good, and the work was excellent.
