TWO MEN & A TRUCK

This was a last minute call to Two Men & a Truck to move in two days as the other mover fell through. The lady I talked to provided the cost of the move, plus $75.00 because the move was in Paradise. I think $75.00 is a little steep for a 30 minute round trip. The cost of the move depended on how many hours and how many men, I forget the actual costs)0. Two men were more money but 4 hours were allowed, 3 men was 3 hours (I think this right) but if you went over 3 hours the cost would be more the using the two men & 4 hours. It was a bit confusing and she continued to try and convince me that hiring 3 men would be quicker and cost less. I was dubious and opted for 2 men. The next morning a man came by, checked out what needed to be moved and listed the items (nothing was concrete on the list, rather an estimate). The gentleman who was doing the estimating explained the moving process throughly and explained the difference between using 2 or 3 men, which now made sense as long as the movers "moved" and didn't take their time. The next morning at 8 am sharp the truck pulled up and parked. The moving process was explained throughly and they planned how and what was going in the truck in order. It was then the clocked started ticking and those guys went to work, they wrapped everything, padded everything, all three were working, no standing around just hustle. They were polite, friendly, clean and neat. All were helpful and jumped in to add additional items to load in the truck that were not on the list. We were done in about 1 1/2 hours, no breaks, they drove the 2 1/2 miles to our new home and began unloading, asking where to put boxes, furniture and had no problem moving something twice when we changed our minds. They were done in less then 3 hours and we could not be happier with the service they provided. They were extremely contentious and careful while working non stop. The only negative was the $75.00 penalty for living in Paradise.

This com[any is absolutely outstanding. My original moving plan fell apart 2 days prior to my move. I emailed Two Men and a Truck on Thursday evening, I had a call Friday morning at 8 am, they came to my home and gave me a bid at 1 pm and said they could do it Saturday morning, the next day. The two men, I can't remember their names, drove up from Chico to Redding, were supposed to be there at 8 am, they were loading the first boxes at 8 am and were done short of 2 hours. The nicest, most polite, professional and fast, young men. They drove to Citrus Heights unloaded, put everything together that they took apart and were on their way home by 3:30. A move that started extremely stressful turned into a very positive experience. I absolutely love Two Men and a Truck!

On time, punctual and helpful! Professional! They worked in 110 degree heat and not once complained. They know how to move large items that would take me twice as long to do myself. It was worth the price. The only concern I had was the person who gave the estimate was off by almost $300.00 I can let this go because when I looked at the opriginal bid I wondered how they could to this for such a low amount. I was impressed with their speed, diligence and hard work.

The moving men were fast and efficient and seemed to know what they were doing. They worked very hard, especially the three men who unloaded the two trucks in Linden, but they were over-matched by the sheer quantity of the job. Both trucks were packed tightly. They unloaded for many hours and shelves were not put together, things were a mess, and there was a lot of breakage. Much was unable to fit on the trucks and so was left at our old house, including many very heavy plants in ceramic pots, an entire bathroom of stuff, sawhorses, etc....just unable to fit on the trucks.

I had to rent a U-Haul trailer and go back myself in my 1994 truck and pick up all the remaining stuff, a 300-mile round trip, and the company refused to pay me for the trailer rental or gas.

As to breakage, I was VERY sparing in estimating the damage because I liked the moving men. Damage was as follows: birdbath broken, St Francis statue broken, bookcase smashed, golf pull cart wheel broken off, spindle of chair from dining set broken, other dining chair back wood damaged, piece of trestle table missing, tops of plastic bins smashed in. With the $169 for the trailer and $60 asked for gas added in, I only asked for $384 in damages, trailer, gas TOTAL. The company refused to pay for the trailer or gas, and offered a measly $100 for all the damage.

We were told the man who had made the estimate had been fired for bad estimates. That being so, the company should have accepted responsibility and paid me a fair amount. Even with the damage, it would have been a satisfactory experience if they had just ponied up a few hundred dollars.
