Ryan, our designer, added the "Wow Factor" to our project, and the office staff kept us well informed throughout the project. I’ll get straight to the point and say I HIGHLY recommend using The Green Scene for your pool/hardscape/landscape needs. Scott and Lisa have built a one-stop-shop that truly delivers with their excellent design, attention to detail, and friendly staff. The design process was smooth and our designer, Tyler, could not have been more of a pleasure to work with. He came up with a great initial design after our first brainstorm meeting, and tweaked it anytime we asked as we decided to make adjustments along the way, no matter how big or small. On the project-management front - Diana and Frank were always available to answer any questions and ensure adjustments were communicated quickly and implemented into the final job. They were informed and patient with all of our asks, kept things on schedule, and finished the job in a timely fashion. When you have projects of this scope and scale that can take 6+ months for larger properties, having a one-stop-shop like Green Scene makes the process much less stressful. They handle all the sub-contracting work for you so you only have to come to them with any thoughts along the way. Green Scene is your full-service pool and landscape company! We are finishing up our backyard, pool, BBQ, patio cover, putting green and side yard projects with them, and have already hired them to refresh our front yard! We live in a new Toll Brothers development so we needed landscaping from the ground up. We loved Scott's plan for our home so off we went on this adventure! It took nearly a full year (Covid didn't help) for everything to be finished but we couldn't be happier with the result. Our landscaping is beautiful, in our opinion best in the neighborhood! So excited to be using our pool and slide. Kiddos love it! Our project manager Frank is the best. He made sure slide steps and platform were safe for the kiddos and kept everything running smoothly. He was always available when we had questions and/or concerns. We are living the outdoor life this spring!!

The Green Scene is the best VALUE out there in the pool and landscape industry, but they are not the least expensive. We initially worked with The Green Scene and several other design/build contractors when we were exploring who to hire for our new Toll Brothers home. We initially thought The Green Scene was expensive, and selected another firm that was a little less expensive and doing many projects in our neighborhood. It was a mistake. The other company (name withheld to protect the guilty) lied to us, failed to get HOA approvals, permits, and was unable to build our job in a timely manner, or to the quality that we required and we ultimately fired them. Turned out all of our neighbors had problems too with the other company with poor quality, no shows, over payments, and incomplete projects after living with a mess for years. With much frustration we let them go .. and we are so glad we did! That’s when we reconnected with Scott Cohen and The Green Scene crew and they saved the day. All new design plans and permits were put into motion immediately. The difference between Green Scene and the other company was like night and day … it was astounding! The Green Scene is a brick-and-mortar company that is staffed with professionals that handles all the paperwork, permits and HOA docs. Angel, their detailed Project Manager works behind the scenes scheduling and coordinating the teams. Frank, their outstanding hands-on Superintendent oversees their construction Crew and was there every step of the way to guide us with any questions that we had. Scott, who designed and landscaped our yard with such artistry & perfection!! And lastly … our favorite of the Green Scene crew was “Noe” who was so precise and detailed with everything he touched, from creating our beautiful cast concrete polished counters, dog bone bench, walls, etc. His masonry skills are outstanding! Now that we have completed our project with The Green Scene, our yard is the talk of the neighborhood! In the end we may have paid a little more, but we received a lot more quality, creativity, peace of mind, and a sense of pride in our home that is priceless. Let’s face it, if you are considering building a pool, you already know that you are in for some stress and inconvenience. However, the ultimate goal is to have the result of your dreams. The Green Scene gave us the pool and backyard of our dreams. My wife and I had a goal of recreating our experience in Bali in our backyard. When we met with Scott Cohen, he immediately got it. When he showed us our design video, we were completely blown away! It went beyond our expectations. He is no doubt a master designer, and you can certainly tell he has had many many years of experience. He was also kind and patient with us during the process when we would request changes or have questions. If you’ve had experience with typical contractors and sub contractors, I’m sure you’ve had some bad experiences. The Green Scene is not your “typical” contractor, and anyone they bring in as sub contractor is not typical as well. Everyone was ‘top notch”. I’d like to specifically call out the tile workers for their amazing work. They were so fast and their attention to detail was incredible. Also, during our build we had 2 different project managers, Eric and Shawn. Both were very helpful and super informative. The masonry work was incredible as well. Basically, everybody that we dealt with from the office to the project site was very professional and helped us through the stress of the build. Do not hesitate to use The Green Scene. You are in good hands. The experience they have is unmatched. We could not be happier with our results. We now have our own slice of Bali in our backyard!

As an architect and contractor it is very difficult for me to give up design and construction control. I am very detailed oriented and have very high expectations. I can truly say that this is the first time in my 40 year career that I have been completely satisfied with the end product. My wife and I chose Gree Scene because design was very important to us and we had a challenging small back yard with a big list of features that we wanted. Scott, Tyler and Frank did not disappoint! We can open our three panel slider and we feel like the back yard is part of our living room. It is so wonderful that the builder of our community often requests to bring a potential buyer over to view what can be done with a "tract home". Thank you Green Scene!

Scott Cohen and his design team at the Green Scene blew us away...they completely utilized every inch of space in our backyard and then provided us with a design that will work perfectly. I have worked with Green Scene Landscaping on many architectural projects involving strict HOA guidelines and restrictions and I have to say this company is amazing! The plans they come up with look like works of art, they are responsive and kind. I can't say enough about Scott, Tyler, Stephanie, Kinsey, Jose, Everyone! I highly recommend them for any major landscaping and pool projects you are planning on doing!

Green Scene Landscaping has done two major projects for us through the years, both were beautifully designed and executed. The front yard was our first project. Scott's design made our home look much more expansive with a curved flower bed, inviting entry patio, peaceful water feature, beautiful plant choices and perfectly placed landscape lighting that made it as pretty at night as it is during the day. Later we hired Green Scene to design and execute our back yard. Scott incorporated a lovely raised entertaining area with a wisteria covered pergola, a gas fire pit, beautiful landscaping and hardscaping along with a lighted fountain. Every time we go into the back yard a sense of peace comes over us. Our friends feel that same emotion when they visit. It truly is our sanctuary. Green Scene does great work at a fair price and made two major projects go very smoothly for us. We love the results and they have enhanced our quality of life.

Their team is cohesive, creative and attentive. They worked with the city and local Homeowners Association to obtain all permits and kept us well-informed of their scheduling plans. Having done any number of activities over the years, we have learned that no major construction like this is ever completed without some bumps in the road and scheduling issues. Yet our main goal was to have everything done for this summer's swim season and they achieved that. Attached is one "before" and several "after" pics. In summary, Green Scene is a class act...not inexpensive by any means...but you get what you pay for...first rate design and execution!

I work for the largest commercial landscape company in the country, so I knew when it came time to redesign the backyard in my home that I was looking for a partner that was imaginative, proactive and committed to achieving a high-quality product.  Green Scene delivered extraordinary results, a backyard that looks like it belongs in a catalog, a five-star, resort destination just outside my door. 

 Since wrapping up the yard about one month ago, we've entertained groups small and large, adults and children, hosted intimate dinner parties and all-day pool parties.  Every person who has seen Green Scene's work has commented on the magnitude of the transformation from a dated yard into an inviting environment rich with color, class, variety and usable space.

 There's no question that the quality of the workmanship is excellent and I highly recommend Green Scene. 

 That said, as with any construction project, there were minor hiccups along the way.  If I didn't mention them, I'd be dis-servicing those considering Green Scene and not providing a balanced review.  A few things to keep an eye out for: (1) Communications - I can't emphasize enough the importance of having a strong project manager on the team.  Ours started strong and faded considerably along the way.  If you can get Scott, the owner, active on your project, you're in great shape.  He is extremely client-focused, proactive and brings forward great ideas.  (2) Materials Selection - we weren't initially impressed with how our PM presented materials to us, bringing only a few options for consideration while not understanding why that approach wasn't working, as I'm an extremely visual person.  It wasn't until we proactively suggested going to a few showrooms to look at products that real traction was made.  And once we began that process, Scott joined us and spent a tremendous amount of time helping us find the right materials that fit our vision.  While experiencing these frustrations real-time, they seemed bigger than they do now, given the quality of the final product, yet to disregard them completely also doesn't feel quite right. 

 

It's worth also pointing out that since completing the project, Scott has continued to remain available to us, as we have had questions about the yard, or to fix small problems that have arisen.  We really appreciate how he stands by his product and strives to ensure our complete satisfaction. 

 All in all, Green Scene is an honest, hard-working company, clear experts inlandscape design-build.  You can't go wrong with them.     

I explained my needs to their office staff exactly as I had two other companies. They took the longest to come out but Scott was on time. I was surprised to find out he was told I need a complete pool remodel when all I told their office staff was I need the stone work re grouted. So complete misunderstanding by their office staff, unless it was to get him in front of me to sell me much more than I wanted or needed. It turns out they have a $10,000 minimum which no one mentioned and that is more than triple the other bids for the work I need. Scott was nice.

We just completed a major home remodel project that included
adding a spa, redoing the pool, hardscape, driveway, landscape and lighting. We
couldn’t be happier with The Green Scene!

We previously worked with Scott Cohen and The Green Scene
when they designed our last back yard for “HGTV’s Get Out Way Out” and we really
enjoyed the experience (and loved the results). When we purchased our new home, we called Scott to
consult with us regarding the changes and additions we wanted to make. Scott has tremendous vision and walked
thru the creative possibilities with us, which was a big help, as this was a
substantial undertaking.

Scott’s design team created beautiful drawings of the
backyard in 3d that we could view before we contracted for the work. This was very helpful to see the design
in color and from all different angles.

There was a lot of coordination required as our new home was
being built as well. Between the General
Contractor, Interior Designer, and The Green Scene the entire project took over
one year to complete. The Green Scene office staff was great at communicating
with the other parties involved, and Lisa, the Projects Manager was extremely
flexible and helpful about rescheduling the crews to work around other
contractors.

Scott has been with us every step of the way - from getting approval at homeowners
association meetings, to bi-weekly site meetings, to the finishing touches and
details. His crews are the best! His crews specialize in each area
of the work being done. They are all very talented. The supervisor, Eric was really easy to work with and made
sure we were happy throughout the sometimes-messy construction process.

We love our new outdoor kitchen (and my husband especially
loves the look of the polished glass and concrete counter tops). The new pool and vanishing edge spa
enhanced the views. Our
friends and family are amazed when they see the backyard and we can’t wait to
do more entertaining. We
can’t say enough about the relaxing atmosphere Scott created.

I would recommend The Green Scene to everyone. Scott has the ability to take your ideas
and turn them into reality.

The experience has been excellent. They totally redid our back yard, and so I don't know if we will be having future business. When he was here for the final inspection, he noticed that the plant wasn't doing well, and so he brought in another one. They are very professional, they are very thorough, all of his workers are clean, polite, they work hard, and don't take a bunch of breaks or anything. They are much better than we anticipated, and we were very pleased. Their prices are on the higher side, but they do a lot for that money.

The quality of workmanship was exceptional. The workers were highly qualified and very professional. All work was completed in a timely manner. I have no complaints at all and would definitely use them again.

We chose Scott Cohen because of a design he did and we wanted duplicated. Of course after we signed a contract, suddenly he couldn't do any of the things he said he could do. He also idn't listen to a thing we asked for. He took almost a year and the scaled down project was never completed. He didn't supervise the labor, he was chronically late for meetings, sometimes didn't show up at all. He managed to try and blame us for all of his mistakes. He hid his mistakes and denied them when confronted. For example, unbeknownst to us he took 1600 square feet of dirt from around the pool and dumped it on our hillside. I hurt myself walking up the hill when my legs sank into the dirt almost to my knees and I fell. He told us if we didn't purchase tile through his company then he wouldn't warranty his work, although we found out NONE of it is his work because he hires subcontractors, which he doesn't supervise. He also didn't pay his tile subcontractor and JFK STONE came knocking on our door for the money. My cancelled check said FOR TILE WORK DONE. Scott then had the subcontractors file a lien on our home so we couldn't take advantage of refinancing our home! Even though I paid for the work and proved it with my cancelled check, the subcontractor JFK Stone still won't take the lien off until Scott Cohen pays him and acknowledges he has been paid, which Scott Cohen never did. We tried to fire Scott much earlier but he told us that we couldn't, and that we'd be obligated to pay the entire contract amount to him even though he had barely done any of the work. We tried to limp along with him to just get the project done, but it became impossible when he constantly harassed other workers on jobs that didn't involve him. When we told him we wanted out, he told us if we complained about him he was going to file a personal injury lawsuit.
Here is that portion of Scott's threatening email to us:
"If you pursue us otherwise, we will counter with this and more;
My slip and fall accident at your home: I know this will be news to you, but I hurt myself badly when I slipped and fell on your front steps the day I brought you travertine samples. The tiles had been removed from the steps by your workers/contractor. The steps were left rough and crumbly (I have photos). As I was walking down with the heavy stone samples in hand, I slipped on a rough edge of step and threw my lower back out. I missed work for nearly a week, could barely walk (or sit on a toilet) and was in excruciating pain. I went for treatment to the doctor (yes, I have receipts). I spent weeks on icepacks and medicating myself to bed in hopes to get a full nights' sleep through the pain. I never pursued it with you because I figured it would eventually heal and we were already having problems getting along. At the time I thought, "just get through this job". The reason I fell is that your men left the site in a terribly unsafe condition. There was no caution tape and the steps were crumbly and loose. I got hurt as a result of your negligence. Now, as I sit here today, I am still in pain. It is hard to get out of bed each day. The healing is very slow and it is affecting my overall health. If you pursue us, I will turn the file over to our personal injury lawyer and seek compensation for my pain and suffering, etc."
BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY AND THIS MAN!!! He is unethical, and I had to file a complaint about him to the state.

This was a relatively simple repair --- but I am happy that I can count on Green Scene to follow-up even after several years.
