I requested drain clean-out for the sink in the bathroom - working via American Home Buyer's warranty. Contractor Connection sent the technician who looked the problem. He concluded that he couldn't do anything because he couldn't open the clean-out cap, and said he would check with my warranty company, because if he broke it, it would not be covered by the warranty. This is where the ride began
Unsurprisingly, CC concluded that they my insurance doesn't cover it. Not only that, my bathroom stood dismantled for a week without anyone giving me a call to actually tell me that. I called myself last Fri. After arguing for half an hour on the phone and offering to pay for a broken cap myself (if they indeed broke it), they backpedaled and said they didn't want to take the responsibility even if I wanted to pay for it. I couldn't deal with these people and asked to come at least put my bathroom back together. After half an hour of more arguing that they don't have manpower for that, they finally agreed to send someone. They didn't show up.
I arrived back home, bought the tool and unscrewed the cap myself. Called them back and they agreed to come out and finish the job between 8-11am. I call them the day of the appointment and they tell me it is actually 9-12. I eat that again. But guess what: noone shows up until 12:30.
And when I call, I get referred immediately to the manager lady who is extremely disrespectful. When I describe to her the situation - that no-one has called me, or the tech is late, or that my bathroom is dismantled - and ask for a resolution, all I hear in response is "It is what it is". "I dont' have the manpower - what do you want me to do about it?" "They are wrapping up the last job - what do you want me to do about it?" "I guarantee you we won't be having you as a customer again".
I hope they go out of business for this sort of respect for their customers.
"Our company services Home Warranty Policies for multiple companies. In this case, the Warranty Company, Old Republic, requested we respond to a request by this combative, rude, demanding, unethical and unrealistic homeowner to service a clogged drain in the guest bathroom. TENANTS occupy this home and NOT the owner, so information provided by Mr. Homeowner is not first hand and is in general untrue and inaccurate. Upon arrival, our technician immediately disassembled the sink drain system and popup assembly in an attempt to clear the stoppage. He then determined the problem was inside the wall and noticed the vanity cabinet had to be removed in order to access the piping. According to the terms of this homeowner’s policy with Old Republic, removal of the vanity cabinet IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE HOMEOWNER AND NOT COVERED. Therefore, Mr. Homeowner was notified by telephone (nearly impossible to contact) the vanity cabinet must be removed by him since doing so was not covered. Mr. Homeowner then suggested we “fabricate” a story to tell Old Republic so they would cover the work. The office manager declined doing so and remained firm stating removal of the vanity cabinet is the responsibility of the homeowner and not that of our company. Mr. Homeowner was audibly upset. Mr. Homeowner eventually had the vanity cabinet removed. Our technician returned and discovered the cast iron cleanout plug was fused to the piping and could not be removed. Again, removal of the plug was NOT COVERED UNDER THE TERMS OF THE WARRANTY POLICY WITH OLD REPUBLIC. The technician notified our office and we contacted Old Republic to see if the work could be covered. Once again, Mr. Homeowner suggested we “fabricate” another story in order to make sure the work was covered. The office manager declined doing so and remained firm stating the Warranty Company will determine if they want to cover it or not. Our technician left the home since approval was not immediately granted. Mr. Homeowner had the plug removed by others then summoned our company to return for service to the clogged sink/drain. We scheduled a follow up appointment with Mr. Homeowner. Our technician arrived and there was no answer at the door. Repeated attempts to contact Mr. Homeowner by telephone were unsuccessful. We eventually scheduled a return visit where the technician reassembled everything and made sure all was draining properly. At no time did we shirk our responsibility or decline service to the home. In fact, despite repeated attempts to schedule service, Mr. Homeowner would not make himself or the tenants available for service. We did all we could to provide excellent service, all the while enduring profanity laced tirades and accusatory and threatening behavior by Mr. Homeowner. His attempts to misinform and fabricate information provided to the Warranty Company seemingly left him frustrated and desirous of seeking some form of retaliation toward our company. Contractors beware if you decide to work for this homeowner."
