The technicians that installed the water heater were excellent. However the office staff wasn't great. The office staffs attitude towards my calls and the questions I have leaves a lot to be desired. It seems to be a we'll get to you when we get to you attitude. I’m a little worried that no one seems to know what’s going on or is interested in solving the problem. The owner wants to send me a certified letter that I okay'd putting the remote outside in the metal box, which I told them was incorrect. There isn't a convenient way to check the remote inside the box outside. I would have to take a screw drive to undo the box potentially in inclement weather, which wouldn’t be safe.
Response from TANKLESS HOT WATER SOLUTIONS
"The member has been unreasonable throughout the process and is very forgetful when it comes to in person and phone conversation. As time goes he comes up with new request, such as repairing his stucco that was behind his old water heater. When a water heater is changed it is not customary to paint or repair whatever is behind the old heater, we are plumbers not painters. He only came up with that request recently. We’ve handled his concerns with the temp controller, we’ve handled his concern regarding the model number as have two other entities, the So Cal Gas Company and American/Takagi Water heater company. We happen to suggest a totally different brand heater, he requested the Takagi/American heater and we went out and obtained just what he asked for. We are not responsible for manufacturer changes to their part numbers. It seems unusual a customer being so unhappy with the work would hire the same contractor to do more work at his home. He had us run a new plumbing line under his house for him, he was happy with that work and must have been satisfied with the tankless heater installation as he used us to do more work for him. At this point we would prefer and choose not to work with him, his forgetfulness and constant calls to the office staff over the same thing are costly and time consuming. We sent him a certified letter stating what we could do for him as part of the original installation and he choose to have us do that. We haven’t charged or asked for any additional payment from him though we have made at least 3 additional visits to his home and spent a number of extra hours including preparing this form for you, trying to satisfy his requests He has every right to review us in whatever fashion he feels suits him, hopefully honestly but that will be his choice. We will no longer work for him or return his calls unless he has an issue with the product we install functioning properly. At that point we will refer a certified technician from another company to him at his expense. If any warranty issues are found he most likely won’t have to pay or parts. That will be determined by the new company tech. I sincerely appreciate Angie’s List trying to protect the consumer as well as the contractor. We have had nothing but luck with any customer obtained through Angie’s list until now, not to say the member isn’t a nice guy, he’s just been very unreasonable when it comes to this situation"

$199 - That's the price of a service call. He didn't try to sell me anything and replaced three screws that were missing.

Ted was wonderful - his team fixed the problem quickly. Ted was recommended to me by several guys who work the order desk at Hirsch Plumbing and Supply. I would use him again.

Our old water heater was leaking. We decided to replace it with a tank less heater. We called Tank less Hot Water Solutions. We did not do extensive research due to the growing leak. We left a message. They called back the same day and scheduled a time for an estimate the next day. They came at the appointed time. The estimate was $2,779 for removal of the old heater, installation of the tank less heater, and minor gas and water re-piping. A tank less heater needs to be vented differently from tank heaters. Or at least due to the venting system in place for our old heater, which shared a vent with our furnace, we needed a different vent. So the heater was installed on an exterior wall in a crawl space and vented through the outside wall of the crawl space. The water and gas pipes had to be re-routed to the new location, a few feet away from where the old heater was. The installation was done a few days later, on time. All is working perfectly. And we're very happy with the work.

Experience was moderate. I had to contract with another company for the drywall portion of the install. Interior Townhome installation with additional entry through closet on second floor and installation of exterior drain pipe through closet. Overall good. Their warranty of the product they sell is horrible. They only warrant their work for 90 days but manufacturer warrants product for 10 years. If anything goes wrong you have to pay $95 an hour for them to even look at it.
