SCHIRO'S COLLISION REPAIRS

After my Audi was hit in an accident, I was referred to Schiro's by State Farm for repairs. The initial experience I had with them was positive. They seemed knowledgeable and courteous. I was worried my car was unsafe to drive, and they even offered to pick it up and tow it. A week and a half later, we picked up my car and, cosmetically, everything looked good. We drove it home about 7 miles, and as we parked it in the garage...it died. Engine wouldn't start, locks didn't work, no interior lights, key fob did nothing. After many failed attempts, it started about an hour later. But the car gave me multiple malfunction codes: Suspension malfunction, steering, ESC stabilization, sensors, hill hold... and so on. Nothing worked. I contacted Schiro's that night and explained the situation. My emails to my (previously) courteous and prompt service advisor went unanswered. I never heard back from him. When we finally called the next day and spoke to the front desk, they insisted that if it was an electrical issue it wasn't their fault. We explained that the car didn't exhibit this behavior before they worked on it. We were worried it was unsafe to drive, but they weren't willing to come out and pick it up this time around. It was clear they didn't feel it was their responsibility. Their entire tone and demeanor changed once they'd been paid. We reported to State Farm that we had an issue with Schiro's making good on their repair, and they suggested we take it to Audi instead. Once we got the car back from Audi, they informed us that when Schiro's reconnected the battery after their repair, they did so incorrectly. Audi hooked everything back up properly, looked it all over and cleared out the fault codes. At the moment, we've been forced to eat the cost for Schiro's mistake, as well as paying for a rental car, but hopefully our insurance will reimburse us. There are many positive reviews of this shop on Yelp and elsewhere. Perhaps they are well deserved. It's possible our experience was the anomaly. However, I'd hesitate before doing business with this company again.

After being involved in a hit/run felony accident where my wife and I were rear-ended, our insurnace carrier, Amica, gave us a list of recommended auto repair facilities and we had the option of going to any place we wanted for the repairs. We decided to go to one of the Amica-recommended facillities, Schiro's Collision and Auto Body Repair Center in Chatsworth, CA and we are very glad that we did.
Our first impression upon entering the office of Schiro's was that it was so neat and clean. Steve Marth greeted us and explained very clearly the process that they do in evaluating the damage done to the car and how they go about doing the repairs. He was very personable and professional. He assured us that they could match the paint perfectly and that they would keep us apprised of the repairs. Steve also addressed our primary concern that they would check for any damages that would make the car unsafe. He said that he would be in contact with Amica if there were any repairs needed that would exceed what the adjuster determined that the car would need.
We asked Steve if we could pay extra (over and above what the insurance would need to pay) to have some minor scratches repaired and he said that it would be done. Schiro's does this as a courtesy WITHOUT charging the insurance company or owner.
We received calls from Schiro's reporting on the progress of the repairs and when the car would be ready. On the day we were to pickup our car, we asked Steve if he would double check to make sure that the car was safe to drive and he said that before the vehicle is released, it is inspected to insure that everything is fine, but reassured us that he would speak to the person who did that inspection and let him know our concerns. Schiro's then detailed the car on the outside.
When we saw our Honda we were extremely impressed at how great it looked. It was as if it were a brand new car on the outside. The paint matched perfectly and all the scratches removed. Steve went through the list of repairs that had been done and explained everything to us. Steve also said that if we should notice something after the car was released, then we should bring it back and they would take care of it. We were also pleased that it only took Schiro's seven working days to repair our vehicle, considering the extent of the damage. The total bill was $3,738.78 which included a $500 deductible we had to pay since we were unable to obtain the other driver's license number.
We are extremely happy that we took the car to Schiro's and highly recommend them without any reservations whatsoever. Thank you Steve Marth. Thank you Schiro's. Thank you Amica. You have given outstanding customer service.
