High Volt Electric (lic 963370) recently installed a Generac standby electrical generator at my home. They did a great job.
Owner Karo Gyonjyan made sure that the infrastructure was installed well (including subcontracted plumbing for the natural gas connection), that our solar-panel system was safely accommodated and that local permit and manufacturer requirements were fully satisfied. Tradesmen always showed up as scheduled with a can-do attitude, worked adeptly and maintained a clean and orderly worksite. Projects at older homes always include a surprise or two and this one was no exception, yet Karo addressed each to my full satisfaction.
A standby generator is integrated into a home's electrical system and ready to automatically fire-up following an electrical service interruption. Having one installed seemed prudent given recent severe weather, a vintage local grid and an ongoing nuclear power plant shutdown. Researching generator technology and brands identified Generac products (made in the USA) as the apparent industry standard.
Unfortunately, each of the retail dealer/contractors listed for SoCal on the Company's website whom I contacted charged $125 upfront for an estimate -- except for one who required a very large down-payment (well in excess of what his state contractor's license allowed). Each was haughty about their terms and surprised when I objected.
Fortunately, a few web searches of local electrical contractors with generator experience identified several solid hits. High Volt stood out because of both their generator experience and extensive success with commercial work of similar scope. And among bidding contractors, Karo seemed to have the best grasp of the project's work demands, challenges and permit requirements. His terms were reasonable, he always conducted himself in a professional manner and he didn't let me down. What more could you ask of a contractor?
I look forward to working with High Volt and plumbing subcontractor Drainmaster LA (Drainmasterla.com lic #947437) in the future.
"Thanks Member Been a pleasure working with you and enjoy your new generator."
