He came out to diagnose our issue, and made a second appointment to bring out specialized equipment to find a coolant leak. Never showed up for the second appointment, never called, and we tried for several weeks to reach through calls, texts and emails to no avail before the insurance reassigned to another company. The lack of communication and responsibility to their commitments is no way to do business.

The appointment did not go well from the beginning.  First his hands were filthy and in just going up into the attic he left black marks over about 3 square feet of our ceiling which will now have to be repainted.  Then he supposedly inspected the ducts and gave us the diagnosis discussed above.  Since my husband and I have never heard nor seen any signs of rodent activity in our house, we were suspicious.  My husband climbed into the attic himself.  First of all, the dust and cobwebs in the attic had not been disturbed farther than a few feet from the attic entrance, so there is no way he inspected the length of the ductwork, let alone the 20 feet he insisted needed to be replaced.  After my husband did crawl the length of the ductwork twice, he was unable to find any holes, marks, or any kind of damage at all.

UPDATE: We had Huft out for a second opinion.  (Huft has an A+ BBB Rating and an A rating here on Angie's List with over 100 reviews)  The Huft tech put on gloves and booties immediately upon his arrival.  He then spent an hour and a half inspecting our ducts and could not find anything like the damage described by TNT.  He did find a place where the duct work had not been connected properly, which he was able to repair during the service call for nothing more than the service call fee of $69.  That fix greatly increased our airflow, which was the initial reason for the call.  If you are looking for an HVAC company, we now highly recommend Huft.

He does a very thorough job and gives straightforward recommendations for the work that needs to be done. He is very honest. After he visited he requested that I call him on a really hot day to turn the system on to make sure it is working. He will not close the job until I let him know it is working.
