time involved, which I confirmed through 3 general contractors after the
fact. His 'day rate' is consistent with the other longstanding company
but he overstated the amount of time needed. He kept quoting me 'his
costs' which seemed change on a whim. He's more focused on booking jobs
and getting paid -- was too busy on other jobs to show up and deal with
any issues. He managed the work through a cell phone. Over the few days
that his 2 guys worked, I expressed my concerns about how the work was
being done. He kept saying he wouldn't do anything different but I know
from talking to the city and other professionals that there are much
better ways to get the same result. He cut corners by not sealing the
house properly and not using water as required by the city to minimize
dust exposure. His guys were extremely sloppy and his cleanup was not
thorough. I had to negotiate a lower fee but still overpaid for the work
and will finish up with someone more professional.
