John was punctual, polite, and offered advice for tree care

Trees are a long game that's hard to predict the ending, but I believe his diagnosis and am going to follow his advice, which seems very pragmatic.

John was terrific. He patiently and clearly explained all the issues I was having with our newly drought-resistant landscaped backyard. He took me through the yard and explained all the problems and what do about the drip system and the trees. He even followed up the next day with a phone call to find out if the watering schedule had worked.

He is a consummate professional.

John was very professional, prompt and knowledgeable. He inspected our trees and gave recommendations for their care.

The service was good. One guy came out and it took him about 15 minutes to tell me what was wrong. I would say he knew what he was doing. He diagnosed my tree problem and was prompt. I would call them again.

John returned my call the same day and arranged to meet me at my home in the late afternoon. He arrived on time and was able to diagnose the tree and provide me an understanding of the damage. Basically the bark had been damaged by the landscapers weed whackers, the tree was also infected with a bacteria. John explained the later was treatable but that the tree was not going to recover from the bark damage. He honestly told me that it would be better to replace the tree and not treat it for the infection. He also made a recommendation for a replacement tree. I was very satisfied with John's professionalism and his knowledge and advice was well worth the fee for the evaluation.

John is a wealth of knowledge. We have many older trees on our property and some that had been damaged by trimming crews from the earlier owner. John took a lot of time to evaluate all the trees and shrubs on our property, give advice and make suggestions. He stayed for quite a while and never rushed. I would highly recommend him.

Sadly, John had to deliver the news that a bad decision on our part had killed our 60 year old Sycamore tree. Cautionary note to all - do NOT put a planter with dirt around the base of your tree. John showed us how this mistake had rotted the base of our tree. He was clear and professional. Although I am devastated at the loss of a dear old tree, I feel confident in John's diagnosis. I will likely get his advice before we finalize our front yard landscaping plan.

The overall experience and the work performed by John Windsor was completely satisfactory. He is very kind, and does his work with confidence, willing to take the time to explain what he is doing, and why. I could and did learn quite alot from him regarding the pruning of my fruit trees and how to keep them healthy. A very adept arborist!

I emailed John to diagnose an issue with one of the mature coast live oak trees on my Newhall property after reading the positive reports here. John called within 24 hours of the email, and came by the following day - a Saturday! Even before ringing the doorbell, he inspected the tree in our front yard - and greeted my husband and me with the news that what I'd thought might have been twig blight (a fungus disease) was evidence of an insect instead - a twig girdler. His explanation was entirely credible to me, as I have some background in arboriculture and horticulture, although I'm not a practitioner. John advised using a systemic product when the tree breaks its summer dormancy, just after the fall rains begin. I've now purchased the product and will apply it as directed. Not only did John look at the one tree, he took extra time to advise us on several other issues with our other oak trees. In my opinion, he's charging about a third of what he might. I would not hesitate to call him again for any arboriculture-related question.

I have a large shrub/tree on the front-side of my property that suddenly started dying. The leaves turned brown and there was no explanation. My gardener thought it could be a fungus so he sprayed it once a week, but there was no improvement. I called John and scheduled for him to come out. John first informed me of the type of tree that it was, a bottle brush tree. Then he basically interviewed me about the history of my living in the house, gardening, etc. And soon enough he came up with a very plausible theory as to why the bottle brush tree suddenly took a turn for the worse. John gave an excellent diagnosis and it was obviously right because now the course of care that I've been taking is working. I am absolutely going to call John whenever I have a question about plants/trees on my property. My wife even noted that, next time we buy a home, we will likely first call John to stop by and inspect the trees and plants to give us his opinion on their health. I thought that was a good idea! I definitely highly recommend John.

John is a certified arborist whose value to me is his ability to tell if a tree is diseased and what to do about it. I have a lot of trees and have used him before. Tree service people can cut branches or remove trees, but I've never found any that could tell me why a tree was sick and what to do about it. John, who was originally recommended to me by a local nursery, had previously suggested that I remove an old plum tree being killed by a borer bug, and a ficus whose roots were threatening to invade my pond. He gave me a list of trees that are not prone to diseases, based on his experience in Southern California, so I picked two and had them planted. Then I was worried about how much to water them and whether they had been staked properly by the tree service that planted them. So, I called John to check. He gave me a watering schedule, and sawed one of the stakes, making it lower because a branch was brushing up against it. He knows what he's talking about, and you can't beat his low fee.
