"Thank you for your past business, it sounds like we were able to facilitate what you needed in the past; however, this go around didn’t meet your expectations. I’m glad that we get a chance to explain this scenario to you and all of the people reading this review. The main difference is the timeline in which you contacted us. You, along with several others, called after we received a deluge of rain, almost 0.50” in the Sacramento area. Even with the influx of customers, each with their own emergent issues, we were able to get you on the first round of service (within 48-36 hours of initial call with corresponding deposit). However, as you mentioned, you were frustrated that we did not arrive one day after your call and deposit. I’m not sure that we, or any other roofing contractor, could have done so in that timeline. With rainy season upon us, we recommend calling as soon as you think you might need service rather than waiting until it’s too late. Thank you for your past business and we wish you luck in your future roofing endeavors."

Tom, the owner, came out to bid the job and talked extensively with my husband about what we wanted/needed. He was the only one to check inside the house to see if the roof around our skylight was leaking (it was). After reading reviews on multiple sites, checking the contractor's license board and BBB websites, we decided to hire Tom Yancey Co.
I am very happy with the new roof. Plus, the gutters look great and the guards are a better quality product than the ones shown to me by other roofers and at the same price.
I was very impressed with the workers who put on the new roof. They were friendly, courteous and always willing to answer my questions about the job. I have two dogs who stay outside when we're not at home and the workers did a great job of making sure to keep the gates closed.
My only criticism is that the foreman missed an appointment to meet at my house to discuss the dry rot repair. Otherwise, he was easy to get a hold of via call or text and he did keep me informed of the goings-on.
Next up on our house is new windows and front door and I'll be sure to get a bid from Tom.

The work crew arrived as scheduled and went to work immediately removing our existing roof.
They were punctual, professional, non-invasive and did a beautiful job.
The work area and surrounding areas were kept clean, and they were responsive to any
questions or requests.
Additional repairs were made with no fuss at a reasonable fee.
We were kept informed of the daily status, and all permits were filed for us.
They have a hard working, considerate crew; and we are extremely pleased with the entire process,
and love the results.
We have already referred them to neighbors and friends.

"Only a good company would have allowed [members name] to cancel her contract “midstream” and refund her money for her personal reasons. Turns out a neighbor and friend could do the job for less. [Members name] antenna was 49 years old rusted and decayed an freak, unexpected wind storm finely blew it down before we had sufficient crews to take it down. Our customers receive a 2 million General Liability policy with each purchase. Fortunately no one was injured and no damage occurred. Our employees did a good job removing her roof with our equipment leaving her home cleaner than when we arrived. He is NOT trustworthy and not regarded highly among his own peers.
He has lied to me blatantly and installed damaged gutters from day one.
Their work has been causing water penetration since the time of installation.
We have been struggling since then to understand where the water was coming from.
At first we thought it was the windows or siding and were ready to plow 20k into our house.
We since have learned it is Tom Yancey's poor workmanship of the roof, gutters, and a vent that are the culprit. He has seen these areas and offered a "fix" but is it even close to what needs to be done to repair the areas.

"<<<>>> This roof and gutter project was done in 2008 in Woodland. We did not hear from the customer for 5 years. We responded to her complaints of 3/22/13 re: “ minor drainage problems with wall to roof and gutter gable ends”. ASAP. After Tom Yancey and a qualified technician walked the roof it was found to be good condition without leaks. The customer admitted at this time in front of 3 witnesses that the roof did not leak The inside of the house was observed and photographed and shown to have old stains that were documented before the new roof was put on in 2008 by photos on file. The customer admitted to pre-existing stains on ceiling and walls. The gutters most likely from the after market extensions to the down spouts and debris were weighted down and not preforming as they should in two areas considering the large funnel type valleys on this house that merge to the gutter. Tom Yancey Company had plans to spend as long as it took to work on her areas of concern. She cancelled that morning after we were fully mobilized. We have made every attempt to satisfy this customer. Her aged 70 plus year house has leaking siding and windows .That by the way in 2013 she asked us for an estimate to replace. We did not give her an estimate. TOM YANCEY COMPANY HAS BEEN IN BUSINESS FOR 25 YEARS AT OUR ADDRESS IN CARMICHAEL BECAUSE OF REPEAT CUSTOMERS OUR HIGH STANDARD OF WORKMANSHIP AND OUR ATTENTION TO DETAIL. AND MOST OF ALL OUR CUSTOMER SERVICE. TOM IS A RESPECTED MEMBER OF THE NORTHERN CALIFORNIA ROOFING ASSOCIATION, CALIFORNIA ROOFING CONTRACTORS ASSOCIATION, 25 YEARS AAA RATED BBB,SMUD APPROVED CONTRACTOR. TOM ALSO HOLDS 23 SEPARATE CONTRACTOR CLASSIFICATIONS SINCE 1975."
Estimators for the other companies climbed up on the roof and scratched their heads and guessed (and differed) about how many existing layers there might be, or what might be under the existing composition. Tom was the only one with the sense to ask me to open the garage so he could look up and see from the inside. That and his bid was slightly lower than all the rest made the sale. All bids were within 15% of each other.
We're looking to sell the house, so we told everyone to keep their estimates low since we'd most likely go with the lowest bid. I probably would have selected Yancey all the same.
The job was anticipated to take two days; it took two and a half with the clean-up crew having to return on a Monday since we were having a garage sale and couldn't have them on a Saturday. The workers were all polite and attentive to concerns or questions -- seemed to be hard workers all.
Yancey missed clarifying to us about new county smoke detector and CO detector requirements for the interior that all contractors are supposed to go over with customers, which the county inspector mentioned. Not a big deal, the inspector still signed off and said the roof looked great. I signed that I would install detectors where required in addition to the one I already had.
Yancey provided a written warranty transferable for free for 120 days. That should help when I list the house. I questioned the number of hours claimed for one portion of the job; Tom took off the cost for one hour in good faith.
Overall, a very good job at a reasonable price. The front looks great and will certainly add to the curb appeal in selling the house.
During the installation all concerns that I had were fixed in real time. There was no objection from Tom. He wants to make certain that the customer is satisfied. Tom is one of the most honest businessmen that I have dealt with. I fully recommend him to install your next roof. You will not be sorry.
I even got a compliment from my air conditioner/heater service company (my unit is on the roof) that Tom went above and beyond in the work around the unit.
