Took about ten days before we could use the shower to allow for setting of grout. But a perfect job, so nicely finished. We have only once before have had such a great contractor.

J C Tile Co did an excellent remodeling job for us on the bathroom. James arrived on the date requested and finished on time. Tile work was outstanding as was the plumbing and lite carpentry. He is a true craftsman. A very personable and thoughtful individual. Plus the price was right. Jim

Mr. Hughes is amazing!! My husband and I are so grateful that we found Jamie. He went above and beyond our expectations. Always on time, prepared for work and extremely knowledgeable in his craft. The best part is his honesty. He will tell you why something will or will not work and suggest other options if need be.
My husband did all of the demoing of our bathroom and Jamie provided some of the tools needed.  Even helped my husband in installing the toilet and window trim. I have to say that Mr. Hughes is truly a Jewel! When we start our next project, we will be calling Mr. Hughes.

This job was done a few years ago and the tile he installed is as straight and true and good looking as the day it was completed. James also replaced a wood deck next to my pool with patio tile and I will us his services again when I decide to remodel one of my bathrooms in the future.

I hired some concrete guys on Angie's List to install a concrete pad in my backyard (PMT Concrete), but they did a horrific job and gave me a parallelogram instead of a rectangle. The edges were crooked by more than 7 inches. Then jamie and his brother did a beautiful job masking PMT's mistakes with our slate tiles. After being burned by the first people, JC Tile made me feel so much better. The photos of the patio really don't do it justice. I'm not finished with the yard renovation yet, but the slate patio is the star of my backyard now. Jamie and his bro painstakingly leveled each tile so there would be no uneven edges. They also installed a barrier layer underneath (which many cheap installers will try to not do), and it will protect my patio for a very long time.
JC Tile was not the fastest or the cheapest contractor out there, but I am so very happy that I went with them. It's worth it to know that the job was done right. The result is absolutely stunning, and people are constantly complimenting me on his work. Thank you for saving my patio, JC Tile!

There really needs to be an A+ rating for JC Tile. Jamie is not just a tile guy, but a craftsman in the truest sense of the word. A rare find these days. He knows his trade and takes pride in every single tile he sets. Jamie and his brother are absolutely the best and they do the work themselves. If you want your tile job done correctly, professionally, and with no worries about mess, these are the guys to call. Especially if you have any type of issue going on with the surface where you are going to set your tile.
We called Jamie after having to fire our original contractor off the job. After pulling up the carpet on our 1970's family room addition floor, we discovered it had two large humps and several cracks running the length of the concrete. It was like the concrete floor had been poured over two boulders and the house had settled around them. It was so bad, we thought we might not be able to install tile and have to go back to carpet. Our original guy (not on Angie's List) told us he could just tile over the concrete without doing anything to fix the cracks or unevenness. Well, even as laypersons, my husband and I could figure out the floor would look terrible and the tile would eventually crack.
I called Jamie, he responded immediately, and after I told him the situation I was in, he came over that very evening and examined the floor. He explained it would have to be leveled and the cracks sealed and how he would go about doing it. I was very impressed by his honesty and professionalism. He took his time and explained everything in detail. My husband and I felt right away that he was the right man for the job.
Part of the job involved using a commercial concrete grinder in order to get the humps down. I was dreading the mess I knew that would create but, Jamie and his brother Jason sealed the room so well and used water while doing the grinding so that not a bit of dust entered any other part of our home. He also poured a leveling compound to get the floor even and then sealed the entire floor so that there was much less chance of the cracks affecting the tile at a later time. Jamie then set the tiles and used special devices that kept the large tiles even while the thinset was drying.
The work these two guys did was beautiful AND I did not have to do one speck of clean-up after them. That was a first in my experience of using any contractors. In fact, after the job was completed, Jamie asked us if we wanted to save the left-over cut pieces or did we want him to dispose of them. Since I have various hobbies that involve using tile, I told him I wanted to keep them. Jamie is such a perfectionist that he (and I just loved this about him) stood all of the pieces on end, leaning against the wall, sized smallest to largest. Who does that kind of wonderful stuff anymore? Most people would just throw them in a box or leave them lying in a pile. Not Jamie! It was just such a nice touch and says more about Jamie than I can ever tell you.
I noticed someone just gave him an F for not returning his phone call. I have to say that every time I called Jamie, he either answered his phone right then or called me back in a very reasonable amount of time. In fact, that was one of the things that so impressed me about him and I think if you read his other reviews here you will see that he and his brother are nothing short of top notch. Jamie and Jason are the kind of guys that you are actually excited to tell your friends about. ANY future tile work I need to have done, Jamie will be the one I call.

Jamie came over the day I called him. The entryway was painted concrete and needed quite a bit of prep work but he wasn't in the least intimidated by that and knew exactly what he wanted to do. He sent me an estimate within a day or two and started the work a day or two later. Even though I thought the prep work went well he wasn't 100% satisfied with it, through no fault of his own, but simply because the original concrete wasn't quite level; nevertheless he didn't charge me for the prep work. He and his brother did all the work, had the entire job finished within a week, and it turned out beautifully. They take a lot of pride in their work, just as much artists as tradesmen. We were updated constantly and I thought the price was very fair for the amount of work and the professionalism they bring to the job. Clean, punctual, polite, friendly, professional, fairly priced, I recommend them absolutely without reservation and would hire them in a heartbeat for any future tile work.

This was our second job with Jamie. He did our kitchen back splash and floor last year, so we knew that he did excellent work. I contacted Jamie well in advance of the job. He came to the house and we discussed what was possible and what wasn't..We already knew what tile and granite we wanted to use, so we decided on a plan and work began the first week of January. Jamie and Jason started in the master bath with demolition and then began the arduous job of rebuilding the shower. We opted to use the best materials available to construct the shower, so the foundation of the tile job would be as beautiful as the tile itself. Jamie is very detail oriented, so we got exactly what we wanted. The tile, decorative accent and rope trim turned out stunning. We did have a problem with the 2x2's being irregularly cut. Jamie made us aware of the problem and we opted to use them anyway. Next, the floor was completed. Then on to the entry and hall tiles, because we were waiting for our cabinets to be completed. Again, a beautiful job. Finally, the guest bathroom was completed with the same exact, careful eye for perfection.
All in all, the job went extremely well and we are very happy with the result. Jamie and Jason took great care to keep the construction area as clean as possible during the remodel, which is not an easy task. In the end, our house looks lovely thanks to Jamie's gorgeous tile work. This was not a quick job, but it was worth the wait. Our cabinets actually delayed some of Jamie's work. I would highly recommend Jamie for his excellent tile work. He is dependable, honest and has an eye for perfection.

It was a long project (approximately 5 weeks). I was impressed with Jamie from the first time we met. He has a consultative approach to the project - he discussed tile features for me to consider, grout choices, and gave recommendations for some good tile distributors to check out.
From the very start he worked with me to discuss tile layout, grout choices, expansion joint options (and layout) and strategy for the project. As we remained in our home during the project, he took extra steps to ensure that the project was as and quot;livableand quot; as possible - putting up plastic shielding walls to separate our living areas from the construction zone, cleaning up the house and driveway thoroughly at the end of every day, making sure we had access to our kitchen and front door regardless of the stage of the project. In fact, we really only had about two days throughout the whole project when we didn't have access to our kitchen. Jamie and his assistant (brother) Jason were professional, patient, and very easy to work with.
The proposal/bid included everything but the tile (grout, hardiebacker, other materials), so it made the total cost of the project a lot more clear from the start so I would know exactly what to expect to pay for the entire project - no guesswork. I only had to think about two costs - JC Tiles labor and included materials, and the tile cost itself. Once I selected the tile choice, Jamie took care of ordering it for me and gave me the online invoice number for me to make the payment.
The end result is absolutely beautiful. Jamie is a perfectionist. The tile spacing and grout was done flawlessly and he works very hard to end up with as little scrap as possible, efficiently using all the tile he possibly can somewhere. The expansion joints (recommended to prevent buckling or cracking with such a large tile project) are almost invisible where they had to be placed in larger areas, and are non-intrusive in the doorways.

The owner Jamie and his assistant Jason did an impeccable job of craftsmanship. They were considerate of our needs and desires and used excellent problem solving skills that prevented unsightly, permanent outcomes. Jamie referred us to a tile company where we found the perfect tile and was able to purchase it due to his contractor's discount. The floor is stunning.

Jamie made several trips out to the house to help us with our design and ask lots of questions about the project we hadn't considered.
During the project he would consult us to make sure he was building the shower to our expectation. The tile we picked was very challenging to work with. He's very knowledgable about all types of tile and would share ideas on the different ways we could lay/use the tile. One of the main reasons we picked Jamie is because he uses the Membrane System in the shower instead of the hot mopping process (to make it water resistant). He's been using this product for years and did a terrific job of installing it. He also recommended urathane grout, something we've never heard of. He explained the benefits of the product and we decided to use it. Using the membrane and special grout cost more upfront, but we believe it's worth it in the long run. Jamie also install a new tile floor with heat underneath it. He worked with the electrician to make sure the floor had it's own circuit and that the wires would go where they were suppose to. He recorded all the tests results so we would have them for the company if needed. We have a small bathroom in the hallway that needed a little updating. Jamie replaced the flooring in there as well. Jamie was alway prompt and never missed a day of work. He was flexible with his schedule and willing to work with us when changes happened. We're thrilled with the end result and would certainly use Jamie again.

I had recently had a quartz countertop put in and needed a new backsplash to replace the one that I had had demolished during my kitchen re-model. I obtained four bids for this project and all were comparable in price. I chose J C Tile to do the job because Jamie explained that the best way to make sure the backsplash would be level was to use the old school method of laying a mortar bed on which to place the tile. The other contractors all wanted to use thin set to even out the wall and then use a backing board . I felt that Jamie's method was the best to ensure the outcome that I wanted. When mentioning using a mortar bed to the other contractors, they all said that it was 'too messy' and the backing board was much easier. I was very impressed that Jamie was concerned about the best outcome instead of wanting to take the easier, but perhaps not the best, road. He started and completed the job in two and a half days, all done while I was out of town. He called me twice to report his progress and even emailed pictures and videos showing the the day to day progress of the installation. It was wonderful to see the transformation of my once battered wall becoming a beautifully tiled one. When I arrived home, I was very impressed with Jamie's workmanship and attention to detail. He did a wonderful job! The work area was clean and Jamie was kind enough to give me some grout sealer so I could complete the job after the caulking was dry.

Response from J C TILE CO
"We were hired to tile the upstairs master bathroom and hall bath floors 150 sq. ft. approx. Gini was really pleased with our work and loved the tile so much she decided to tile the downstairs kitchen, family room, laundry, entry, and downstairs bathroom floors an additional 550 sq. ft. approx. We tiled all the cabinet toe kicks through out. We also tiled the laundry rm. with tile base as a compliment to the job at no additional charge. Everything was grouted using a top of the line Urethane grout that never has to be sealed and stays semi flexible in the joint and is color fast. The $5600 was for labor and misc. materials for all the floors upstairs and downstairs which took 2 weeks to complete including demolition and re-installation. Great customer and really enjoyed working for you! Thank you! -Jamie and Armando"

This was the best experience I've ever had with a contractor. Jamie is commited to making his customer happy and encourages input from the home owner. My wife had some creative ideas and Jamie and Armando executed them to perfection. Our bathroom was an embarassment before. Now it is a source of pride and enjoyment.
Response from J C TILE CO
"Our original bid was for $6,770.00. With the changes for the repairs to the floor and the electrical our bill came to $9,682.00. The rest of the cost were in the misc plumbing and electrical and tile purchases. The members were the best of customers and we really enjoyed working for them. Kudos to the chef!!!! You are awesome ! Thanks for all the great lunches! It was great getting to know you . We are family! ;-) -Jamie"

He did a great job and I've used him before. He did a wonderful job overall. He had good craftsmanship and took pride and care in his work. The stainless steel tiles were new for him but did a great job on it because it's a little trickier to work with those tiles. I am thinking of doing the bathroom next year or so, and I might have him do it.

We had a great experience working with JC Tile! Jamie helped to guide us through the process which made it as easy as possible. He recommended where we go to make our tile purchase and we were extremely happy with the tile we decided on. Jamie helped us by suggesting slight changes in our plans to allow for us to be able to have all the tile installed within our budget. He was so trustworthy that we had him and his crew install the tile while our family went on a vacation to Disneyland! Overall, we are so happy and would highly recommend JC Tile!

They did an awesome job. The job included demolition of the old floor completely in the whole kitchen, eating area and a bathroom. They were always on time, very professional, very thorough about explaining what was to be done each day. The owner, James, made sure that we were happy with every phase of the project. Got done as quickly as they could but did high quality work. The floor is beautiful and we couldn't be happier. Highly recommend this company.
