We are very pleased with the job he did.  His bid was far less than two others received,  His Angie scores were so good that we weren't worried we were taking a risk by going with the cheapest bid. He contacted us twice before the appt. date so he could ask a couple of questions and confirm some details to ensure he had the right tools and understanding of what we wanted.  His manner is professional and friendly. He explained what he was doing and why. His attention to detail was appreciated and he did a thorough job of cleaning up.  We will definitely have him back for future electrical needs. 

We needed to add electrical outlets to the outside of our house in preparation for a landscape job scheduled to start next week.  I called Mike on Wednesday and he was able to rearrange his schedule and squeeze me in on Thursday so the electrical could be in place before the landscaper was scheduled to start. (Outlets are for exterior lighting, sprinkler controls, etc.)
Mike was extremely responsive, prompt, and professional.  The installation was done very neatly and Mike took care to make sure I approved the location of the outlets before he installed them.  I have saved Mike Butler's contact information and will definitely give him a call the next time I need an electrician.

Mike saved the day! It was Friday after 5:00. I was sick and had just gotten back from the doctor to find my refrigerator, stove, and some of the kitchen plugs had been knocked out by a concrete contractor who had done some work at my house that day. I tried resetting all the circuit breakers but couldn't get the refrigerator and stove to come back on. I called Mike and he tried to help me over the phone. When that didn't work, he jumped in his car and drove through Memorial Day weekend traffic from Roseville to Elk Grove to help me out. He quickly identified the loose wire in the circuit breaker box and had it fixed in no time. Mike saved me the hassle of going to buy ice and emptying out my frig into ice chests when I was really feeling sick...and gave me a 20% discount for being an Angie's List member on top of it. He was very polite and courteous. Big, big thanks!

Mike Butler came out  when he said he would, gave a bid in the neighborhood of what we expected to pay, and did the work quickly and competently. Including cleanup! We also had a couple of wall switches which had never worked and, the process of installing the exterior plug, Mike figured out that the switches controlled an interior plug. Thanks, Mike!

We had a ceiling fan in our dining room that we wanted to move into the new nursery, and replace with a chandelier in a different spot on the ceiling. Both installs went very smoothly. He took the time to make sure that I was happy with the locations for each fixture before starting, holding the chandelier in place while I moved around the room visualizing the finished room. We had not even thought about installing separate controls for the light and fan on the wall in the nursery, but thankfully he did! He didn't have the right cap for the former ceiling light connection in the ceiling, so at one point he had to run to the hardware store to get that, and at the same time he got lightbulbs for us since it turned out we didn't have the correct type of bulb for the chandelier. He was very friendly, and from our conversation about electric usage and my interest in reducing it as much as possible was going to get LED light bulbs except that there weren't any in stock at the store when he went. On this trip I also had him test the socket for the stove, which had been acting up, to determine if the electrical problem was the stove or house electricity (it was the stove).
The second time Mike did work for us was a last minute job, and I was so incredibly happy with his responsiveness and helpfulness. We replaced the stove, but when the delivery guys installed it, it didn't work. So the next day I called Mike and he came out that morning before going to another scheduled job to recheck the wall socket so that I could make sure of the problem before returning the stove as broken. He tested the stove and the socket several times, tracking down an elusive problem with the ground wiring, and providing a fix. I felt that what he charged me for this job would have been reasonable even under normal circumstances, and since this was a last minute rush job I was very grateful for not being charged an extra fee.

Mike is top-notch and I'll absolutely call on him again!!! He was one of the few electricians that works on Saturdays, he called me back within moments of my leaving him a message and he arrived a few minutes EARLIER! He was on time and that isn't always the case. When you're on time, you show you care. Mike quickly assisted me with an old can light that had an issue and also was able to diagnose and resolve an issue with an outlet that others could not fix in a timely manner. Mike must have spent 20 minutes or so on that and had it working. I feel Mike's pricing was fair and he was super friendly. Thanks, Mike!

Mike showed up promptly and listened to my concerns. He quickly diagnosed and fixed the problems. Mike was in and out within an hour.

Update
Had asked Mike to comeback and do some other electrical work which he agreed to do. Called his work phone on a Sunday around 7PM and he answered the phone. I was just hoping to leave a message about his coming to do the work. Mike sounded kind put off when he said, and quot;I wondered who would call me on a Sunday night.and quot; He actually sounded insulted. Guess he should not give out a work number without the caveat DO NOT CALL ON SUNDAY!! At Mike's request I recalled his phone and left the job details. What a surprise no return call. POOR FOLLOW UP. Lack of professionalism reduces his rating.

Mr. Butler came out to my mom's house to determine the lights in her bathroom did not come on. It was GFI that needed to be reset. The GFI was in another part of the house, he found it quickly, reset it and wa la, lights were on. He said he couldn't charge me his normal charge and reduced the fee. Very pleasant person and easy to see a very knowledgeable person. It's good to know I don't have to hunt around for electricians any more.

He did a great job and I am going to use him again in the future. I would highly recommend him to others

This was an extremely satisfying encounter. Mike was very responsive to my initial call (9pm at night), and made the extra effort to solve my problem as soon as possible after that call - tokk a quick break from a job he was on and came by at noon the next day, quickly and efficiently resolving my issue in short order before returning to his previous job. I recommend Butler Electric to anyone in need of an electrician.

I called at 4and quot;30 on a nasty, hot Friday. Mike was out within an hour to save us! the A/C kept flipping the breakers, and it was the hottest darn day... He checked everything, put in a larger breaker and tested it. Then he went up on the roof to check out the A/C. He discovered that the circuit needed a breaker double than what had been there (installed by the previous owner, who called himself a contractor...)
This system had been checked by 5 other technicians over the last 5 years, and NO ONE except Mike bothered to read the specs on the side of the A/C unit. Because the breaker he installed wasn't up to the total Amps needed, he went back to get one he had in storage, and came back, put it in and was done!
This man rocks, and we are going to be calling him in the future for more work, since our old house has lots of things that can be and quot;improvedand quot;.
The A/C is humming along like a champ, with no more electrical issues. Thanks Mike!

Went great. I had had him estimate the cost of a past job and could tell he's a straight shooter. This time I had him rewire some outlets that I was having a hard time doing myself -- two of them were very tricky, and I never would have diagnosed what was wrong. Had him diagnose and give me an estimate for a couple of other small things as well, which he figured out quickly. The big job was running a new circuit from the box through my attic and then down through the garage to supply power to a new outlet he installed above the kitchen counter. As far as I can tell, he did everything to code -- it looks good and neat and I haven't had any problems with any of the outlets. He had all the tools and equipment he needed, showed up on time, nice guy. Price was very fair given the amount of time he spent at my house, and that he does licensed-quality work -- not a handyman who jerry-rigs things. I will definitely recommend him to friends, and would recommend him to anyone on AL. Thanks, Mike.

From start to finish, Mike Butler the owner of the company impressed me with his straightforward no nonsense approach to bidding for the job and completing the work. Mike did not try to and quot;overselland quot;. He listened to my request , made some useful recommendations and gave me a fair deal. He completed the job right and on time. I will use him again for any electrical job, big or small.

Mike was recommended by another electrician who had been unable to resolve a problem we were having with a dead short that meant half our house had no power. Mike came out and I told him that the previous electrician thought the problem was in the attic. Mike checked the outlets and ceiling fan and found that the problem was in the ceiling fan, not the attic at all. He was able to fix the problem and restore power.

Mike showed up when he said he would and did the work laid out. When someone stole one of the outside lights, he went to the store and purchased two that match the front door and installed them. He was professional and timely. I would use him again, and have called him recently to help with a rental house.

Butler Electric was recommended by another electrician but, after having used him, I would make him my first call for anything electrical in the house. Mike came in with a coworker and they went through the entire house quickly and efficiently and Mike was very helpful with any questions I had. I was referred to Mike by another electrician who couldn't come out due to a bad knee. Mike had to reschedule our original appointment due to a family emergency. He was right on time this morning and began checking outlets as I gave him the background on my situation. After checking a few outlets downstairs, we went upstairs and he checked one that was working but turned out to have a slightly loose neutral wire that was the culprit of the whole problem. He secured that wire and tested a couple of outlets to make sure everything was functional. He charged me a discounted rate based on his hourly service charge, which was much appreciated.

Mike was great. He drove out of his way (almost 30 minutes) to help us out. He was very courteous and fixed our problem within an hour. I will be calling him back to fix everything else. I would definitely recommend him to anyone.
