"THIS CUSTOMER HAS NOT PURCHASED FROM SAVON FLOORING IN CARLSBAD, CA. PLEASE REMOVE FROM THIS LIST"
The carpet install was well done. Due to our moving and construction situation, we had the job done in three phases.
We first had the bathroom and laundry room tile work done. The installers were prompt and professional. The work was well done but the next day I noticed several bath tiles were not even. Savon sent the installer out again and had it corrected, replacing several tiles.
The carpet installation was on two different days, upstairs and downstairs. The crews were on time and courteous. They worked quickly and did a great job. One seam looked a bit off and the installer fixed it right on the spot.
Easy to deal with and friendly.
We then followed them to Savon flooring, where we decided where to position the individual pieces on the slab. About an hour later I received a call from the owner Fred that more granite was needed than originally calculated and that there would be an additional $400 charge. This was despite the layout not changing, so it had the feeling of a switch and bait type of tactic. I reluctantly consented. But it was the first of three occurrences that slightly diminished my originally overwhelmingly positive feeling for this place.
Within a week and we made an appointment for installation. The crew was supposed to arrive between 8 and noon and they did show up right before noon. At 9am however I had a surprise visit by a plumber send by Savon flooring to hook up plumbing for the sink and dishwasher (which of course was not even possible since the countertops and sink were not installed yet). I had been previously asked by Fred whether I needed a plumber and tried to talk me into using theirs for a $250 charge, which I declined. Hooking up a sink and dishwasher takes me about an hour so $250 seems very steep for that service. Now sending this plumber might have been a mistake but it was the second occurrence that diminished my enthusiasm about their professionalism.
The installation went well and the granite looks mostly great. I am a little surprised though how visible the seam is where the edge pieces were glued to the slab. This is more so than any other seam I have ever seen on granite. Most of the time they are barely visible. It is possible that this is due to us using a very light colored granite slab and could not be avoided. It does not bother me too much but I wonder if this could not have been done better. All in all my impression of the place was still positive but not as overwhelmingly positive as it had started out.
