Only later did I discover that in all likelihood the only thing I needed to do was to run a registry check-up program and possibly defragment my hard drive. Both of which I could have done myself.
Not only did they fail to properly diagnose the problem, but they also caused me a lot of pain. Fortunately, a friend was able to locate most of the lost files which had not been overwritten when the OS was installed. Why these folks did not volunteer to do this is a total mystery.
If you value your computer, go somewhere else. These guys are incompetent.
