Drew was one of six general contractors from whom we obtained estimates for a complete kitchen remodel.  After an initial meeting to discuss the details of the project during which he took measurements and photographs and provided input as to layout and design, Drew came back in a few days with a written proposal that was far superior to those provided by the other bidders.  His proposal included computer generated renderings of what all aspects of the completed project would look like, a detailed breakdown of all of the project costs, and a project completion/payment timetable.  Drew guaranteed that, subject to any changes requested by us, the project would be completed on time and on budget.  Drew provided the name of a client in a nearby neighborhood whose kitchen remodel he was just completing.  When she graciously allowed us to come by for a look, we were impressed by both the quality of the work and her comments as to how wonderful had been her experience in working with Drew.

After a few tweaks to the scope of the work and the materials, we signed the contract and scheduled the work.  We did most of the demolition ourselves, other than the removal of the soffit and the wall, and Drew's guys began work right on schedule.  Drew is very detail oriented, and the sub-contractors he uses have all been with him for some time because their work conforms to his high standards.  His carpenter, Christian, is especially meticulous.  Removal of the soffit revealed that we were dealing with a load bearing wall, which was not entirely unexpected.  This necessitated the installation of an LVL beam.  I wanted the beam raised up above ceiling height, but Drew advised against this because the additional labor involved would be costly and would disrupt the schedule.  Because Drew's subs are so good, they are in high demand and he has to schedule them well in advance.  For this reason he is not keen on entertaining changes that would wreak havoc with the schedule.  Drew assured me that Christian would make the beam look great, and he was right.  Christian also did a super job building the knee wall and installing the brackets involved in building the island as i requested so that it could have a free floating end without the need for legs to support the corners.  It turned out great.
Drew finished our kitchen a week ahead of schedule, and we are extremely happy with the results.  Drew is an excellent general contractor who takes great pride in his work.  He always responded in a timely manner to voice messages and emails.  He ran a tight ship and kept everyone on track and on schedule.  He was a pleasure to work with and I would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone considering a kitchen or bath remodel.

We were so pleased with Coastal Designs from start to finish.  Drew is a true professional and was so easy to work with.  He helped us
through the planning phase, guided us through selecting materials, and communicated so clearly what the timeline of the construction would look like for us.  It made the whole process stress-free because we knew what was going to happen each step of the way.  His entire team is made up of quality professionals, and we felt comfortable with all of the workers being in our house, whether we were there or not.  What really stood out to us was Drew's experience and knowledge of design and his recommendation of quality materials, so he was able to guide us on what would work well and what he would not recommend.  The result was that we completely trusted his judgment with everything that we selected. The outcome was two beautiful new bathrooms that we will enjoy for many years to come.  If we do any further renovations to our home, Drew is the first and only call we will make.  He?s that good. 

Drew was great! I  highly recommend him and wouldn't hesitate to use him again. He is very professional and great to work with. He communicates every step of the process, gives you specific dates on when pieces of the project are going to be completed. His original quote only changed because we made some changes but he never charged us more than he said he would. There were a few small things I asked him about when the job was completed and he came back two times (after being paid fully) to make sure i was satisfied. Drew will not disappoint you!

From the beginning, it was a pleasure working with Drew of Coastal Designs. He was one of the few service providers who returned the phone call in a timely manner. During our first meeting we stated our preferences and in our second meeting we received a detailed,  yet easy to understand proposal containing the project phases and a rendering of what the remodel would look like. 
All of the Coastal Designs staff was extremely friendly and trustworthy. Coastal Designs taped the floors off with protective material before the demolition began and always cleaned up after phases in the project were completed. Since we were living in the home at the time of the remodel this was a real plus.
The project was finished a week before and we stayed within the defined budget. We are extremely happy with our beautiful new bathrooms and hall cupboards!

I highly recommend Drew from Coastal Designs! He was so pleasant to work with and easy to communicate with- a trait
that?s not a given in a contractor. He?s very responsive, proactive, reliable and ethical. You gotta love it when someone does what he says he?s going to do.
We met him in Feb 2015 and he was gracious enough to provide a very thorough quote with 2 revisions while we figured out
exactly what we needed the scope of work to be. He began in April and was finished right on time. I would say he was way ahead of schedule but we got held up when I ordered some materials last minute that took a while to get. He connected us with very good vendors for our materials, the cabinetry, stone, etc is very high quality. 
He kept me informed every step of the way and the process went very smoothly. When last minute decisions and unforeseen hiccups came up they were dealt with fairly and he walked us through our best options.
You could tell the subcontractors take pride in their work. Coastal Design?s carpenter Christian is excellent- very conscientious
and precise. Christian built us a beautiful new custom mantel. All of the subcontractors are courteous and did excellent work.

We recently engaged Coastal Designs to renovate two large bathrooms.  

Drew and his team were wonderful throughout the process. Drew was very
helpful with suggestions and met with us several times to make selections
for fixtures, tile, etc. His crew was courteous, experienced and left the
house tidy each day.  The level of work was very high, and Drew's quality
assurance standards were impressive - during the job he saw and fixed a
couple of minor issues that weren't up to his expectations even before we
had noticed them.  When we asked about some sub-par wall texturing that a
previous contractor had done in one of the rooms, Drew sent someone in to
fix up the area for us -- so nice!  

Drew was very well organized and detail-oriented.  When he said a member of
his crew would arrive at a certain time and work for an expected duration,
that's what happened.  The project was finished about a week ahead of
schedule. Renovations are never convenient for the homeowner, but Coastal
Designs made this one about as easy as it could be. We are very happy with
the results.

Drew was great to work with.  Everything was planned out so well they finished a week ahead of schedule and right on the budget.  It went by so fast and easy we were surprised it was actually done.   We asked them to pay special attention to keeping the dust out of the rest of the house and the work areas clean (so our 2 year old didn't get into anything) and they did exactly that.  He scheduled cleaners at the end of certain days/tasks to make that happen.

He gave us a lot of great ideas and tips that we incorporated into the final design and we couldn't be happier with our new kitchen.  He wasn't the lowest bidder but he was the most prepared and gave us a very detailed quote that was easy to see where we could adjust to stay within our budget.

Highly recommend Drew at Coastal Designs if you are considering remodeling your bathroom(s).  Our project was a complete gut of our 1990's designed master bathroom and our daughter's bathroom (Jack and Jill bathroom layout).  We met with several designers, but went with Drew after meeting him and reviewing his past projects on his website.  Drew provided a bid and 3D design rendering that was very thorough and detailed.  His design was very close to what we were envisioning our bathrooms to look like.  Although our vision was simplistic, he incorporated some modern touches and recommended counter top and tile materials that complimented each other well.   
Drew's team of subcontractors have to be recognized as well.  Each one of them (demo team, plumber's, electricians, tile installers, painters) all carried the same professionalism as Drew does.  Knowing that we work from home, each of them were overly considerate to us and kept the work area overly clean and tidy.  In addition, Drew had a cleaning crew come by our home at the end of the each week.  
Throughout the project, Drew kept us informed of the progress.  We had some minor unexpected  things occur:  rotted portion of the sub-floor (replaced by Drew's team without a hitch), having to replace the new master bath tub after a crack on the bottom was discovered after it was set into place.  Even with these issues, our project was finished on time (5 weeks), but more importantly, ON BUDGET.  The end result is above and beyond our expectations.  Thank you again Drew!

Drew at Coastal Designs did a wonderful job on our master
bathroom remodel.   The scope of the project was big because we
basically gutted the master bathroom and moved plumbing a little for sinks, shower and the tub.  There was extensive
tile work (flooring and full walls), new lighting, new cabinets, countertop,
ventilation, fixtures and various electrical changes.  Of all the bids we
received, Drew?s was the most logically laid out, detailed and professionally
done.  This professionalism in his bid carried over into the daily work and management of the project as well.  Drew
was patient with our numerous ?newbie? questions and helped in the selection of
materials and color coordination (when needed).  He was very good about
sharing inputs on which materials worked best in his experience for a certain
applications. 
Drew was excellent in over-sight of his subcontractors and
was very responsive if any small issues came up.   Since both of us
work, Drew was very accommodating to our schedule when we need to meet to
discuss a project related question.   He worked with us diligently on
the special sliced pebble rock design in our shower as well as the helping us
with improving on ideas for the mosaic lay-out on the walls.  He was
prompt in telling us if there were any changes in cost which as appreciated as
well (these changes were mostly due to our materials modifications to the
contract).  Our project was finished well within the date range that Drew
estimated and we are very pleased with the outcome.
I would highly recommend Drew at Coastal Designs to anyone
who is doing any sort of master bathroom remodeling.

The General Contractor, Drew Efimoff, was very professional as were all his subcontractors.  The work started on time and was completed within 4 weeks as estimated  They put down protection for the flooring from the front door into the kitchen and at the end of every day the workers left everything neat and clean.  Drew came by on most mornings and throughout the day to make sure that everything was on-track and to answer any questions/concerns we might have.  A couple of minor changes we asked for in the middle of the project were cheerfully accommodated, no questions asked. Drew also assisted us with updating the original design and added numerous innovative ideas. The end result is spectacular, exceeding our expectations. We plan to contact Drew again when we remodel our bathrooms.

My husband and I planned to overhaul our townhouse for a quite some time. The remodel involved a complete kitchen (new cabinets, countertops, sink, appliances and lighting), open up none load bearing walls between kitchen and living room, leveling kitchen ceiling, complete bathrooms (new bathtub, shower, glass doors, sink, cabinets and lighting), remove popcorn ceiling, paint entire house, install cabinet in the den and much much more. We interviewed four general contractors before finding Drew on the Angie's list one lucky day. We read his reviews, viewed his work and were quite impressed. His presentation package was easy to follow, clear and complete. His price was competitive and timeline was reasonable. Drew was our choice for our project immediately. During the process, Drew recommended things that will prevent future additional repair costs. He was always conscientious of cost savings without sacrificing quality. His response time via text, email and phone was excellent. He was polite and professional to our sometimes silly inquires. His selections of subs were also great and they all spoke highly of Drew. One thing I was particularly impressed was how clean the job site was. We lived in another house during the remodel so they did not have to keep the place clean everyday. But whenever we made visit to see the progress, the place was neatly cleaned and organized. We also asked for many additional task to be done which were not in our original bid. Drew was very accommodating in accepting them. The project was done on time and within the budget. We recently moved in and are enjoying this beautiful place Drew and his subs worked on. We are already thinking of next project with Drew.

Drew at Coastal Designs did a complete Kitchen Remodel (new cabinets, countertops, sink, appliances, lighting, etc?) for us. Our model included opening up a load bearing wall between the kitchen and family room to create the open concept kitchen. We met with 5 general contractors for design ideas and bids. We found Drew after reading his great reviews on Angie?s list, Yelp, and Houzz. He lives up to all of his excellent reviews. Drew?s attention to detail & pride for his work was evident from the first time we met him.  We chose Coastal Design because of Drew's great design ideas, competitive price (which was broken down into a very detailed quote), and project timeline.  He was on the job site everyday to oversee things, updated us daily to let us know the progress that was made each day and informed us of the plan for the following day. He spoke with us in person, on the phone, or in email at least once a day - sometimes multiple times a day if necessary (my husband I both work). Our phone calls and emails were always answered promptly. Drew was very thoughtful of our family's needs living through a remodel.  Everyone he had working on the project was very considerate and professional. They all had great things to say about Drew, which further validated our choice to hire him.  The project was completed on time (5 weeks) and within budget. We ABSOLUTELY love our new kitchen! We have recommended Drew to many friends and will continue to do so as we have never had any home remodel project turn out this amazing all while being completed in such a professional and timely matter. 

We could not have had a better experience with Drew and his team at Coastal Designs.  He is reliable and responsible.  His team is highly skilled and they all have a great work ethic.  Drew is very responsive and helps with design ideas if that is what you want.  He has great taste and makes sure things are done well.  He makes sure things are as clean as possible at the end of each day.  He and his team are punctual.  He completed our bathroom on schedule.  Keeping on schedule is very important to him.  He is very good with people and he seems to have a team that is happy to come to work.  We would not hesitate to use Drew at Coastal Designs in the future.

Finished early and on budget.

To me, Drew is the best there is. He has restored my trust people! He is creative, accurate, honest, punctual and patient. After having dealt with other contractors, I expected h***. Instead, I now live in heaven :)
He is very fair in his price, in that if he would go any lower, the quality of his materials/subcontractors would have to go down as well. He provides maximum quality while still being able to make a living. Other contractor give you a low bid, then charge you for all kinds of things that should have been included. Drew is accurate to the penny agreed upon and does not go beyond the time and cost constraints. He is a skilled project manager and works seven days a week so you do not have to face difficulties.

I have nothing but total praise for our contractor Drew Efimoff.  From the first time we met him he has been so personable!  The bid he put together for us was above and beyond what other contractors provided.  He listened to our want list and put together for us a detailed package that included drawings, pricing, appliances, payment schedule, and his personal guarantee ... all right there in writing.  We made some changes and upgraded both the cabinets and the appliances and the communication between us never faltered.  Drew was also very receptive about the design elements that I was choosing. Drew communicated with us everyday; he was on the job site almost everyday (sometimes more than once a day).  The workmen showed up on time, were respectful, and cleaned up at the end of every day.  Every tradesman that worked at our home did excellent work. The job was scheduled to take 3.5 weeks and the total time was 3 weeks and 1 day.  
Having your kitchen totally remodeled is a stressful situation; especially since 2 people in my family need to be on special diets and we needed to stay living at home.  Having someone like Drew who you feel really takes to heart your experience makes all the difference in the world.
The bottom line is that I love, love, love my new kitchen!  It is both beautiful and functional, and I highly recommend Coastal Designs.

Drew took time, showing a lot of patience, walking us through the
process and helping us pick out materials, fixtures, textures and colors
consistent with our vision.  He scheduled
the work around our schedule (we had a deadline to meet ? family coming) and finished the remodel early and within budget.
All his subs were awesome ? and perfectionists just like Drew.  The work they did is first class ? and that quality definitely shows in the final product.
A note on quality and cost:  Drew wasn't the only contractor we interviewed for the work.  We also talked to several larger contracting companies.  Their proposals were mostly generic, "flat", uninspired designs, whereas Drew's proposals were imaginative, well thought out, and dynamic.  Drew's quote was 10-15% higher than the quotes for the generic designs - but in this case you get much, much more than what you pay for.  There is really no comparison.
When we get ready to remodel our kitchen we will hire Drew again in a heartbeat.

From start to finish this was as smooth as any remodel could possibly have gone.  Drew helped us in our choices of tile,paint,fixtures,
flooring and cabinets and was very accepting of our choices for other elements.  Drew was ALWAYS present when work began and came at least one other time during the day to see how things were progressing.  He and all his workers arrived exactly when promised, were friendly and professional and always cleaned up at the end of the day.
   We feel we struck gold when we found Drew on Angie's list.  He is everything others have said about him.  He kept us informed as to what would be happening each day and the time element involved.  He answered every inquiry by e-mail or phone very promptly and was the ultimate professional in every way.  If you are having any remodeling done go no further than Coastal Designs ! !

This was by far the best experience I've ever had with a Contractor.   Drew was terrific.  
In December of 2012, I purchased a new townhouse.   The unit was built in the mid-80s and hadn't had any major renovations since.   I did my due diligence, reviewing several contractors/designers, and narrowed it down to three companies.   Drew won the bid because of his extremely detailed proposal.  He guaranteed that he would finish on-time and on-budget.   He delivered.
Throughout the planning process, Drew worked closely with me and my girlfriend in selecting colors, materials and concepts.   On three occasions, he met us on the weekend to look at tile, stone and paint.   He remained patient throughout, and did follow-up on all of his commitments.
The quality of Drew's work is outstanding.  He is a perfectionist, so every attention to detail was covered.  I can't say enough about this guy.  I'd hire him again in a minute.

  We had gotten several estimates from contractors in the last year. We then consulted Angie?s List and found Coastal Design. Drew was prompt and professional. He brought in Christian, who would be doing all the general construction work,
right away, , to look things over, and  to be sure everything we wanted could be done within our budget.
  From start to finish Drew had plumbers, electricians, framers, tile workers, finish workers, and painters scheduled with great precision. Everyday( with the exception of some Sat. and Sun.) someone was working, and almost every day Drew stopped by to check on things. Key components such as the double pedestal sink and doors were ordered as soon as the contract was signed. The sink arrived broken, was reordered immediately, and arrived just as it was needed. It turned out that the doors were not in stock and had to be made. They also arrived just at the right time.
  Demo was amazingly fast and nothing was left behind. The next day, Christian was measuring and framing. Whenever there
was a detail or issue that came up, we were consulted and an informed decision would be made. Even while pushing to stay on schedule, both Drew and Christian were patient while we made important decisions. When a problem came up with the quality of the stone being installed in the shower, a team effort was made to come up with a solution. Even while extra stone was being ordered, work continued on other things. 
  Christian did such fine finish work that we asked him to frame the other door openings in the master bedroom to match the
bathroom. This was, of course, an additional charge. Any additional charges to the project were by choice on our part. Drew/ Coastal Design completed the job on time and on budget. The end result is a high end quality master bath and closet. When the project was complete, Drew provided a whole house cleaning, which wasn't expected but was appreciated and helped us to get the house ready for holiday guests.  We would recommend Coastal Designs to others who wish to make improvements to their homes and who wish to have an end product that they are proud of.

Awesome is a word I would use to describe everything associated with our bedroom/loft conversion into a Master Suite by Coastal Designs. My husband is very talented and particular regarding construction and finishing details so please keep that in mind when reading this stellar review!!!! From the first visit by Drew and Christian, we experienced "true professionalism". They were thorough and accurate in measuring and listened to our ideas about what we wanted to accomplish. They also offered their own suggestions and reasons when differing with our thoughts in placement of the doors,etc. A couple of days after their first visit Drew came with an entire portfolio and project plan. My husband is a Program Manager so he was especially impressed by that. We had three bids for our makeover closet and Coastal Designs was the most expensive. We were promised we would not be paying more than the quoted price - contrary to our prior experiences with contractors and a concern of ours with the two other quotes we received. Because the quote was over our budget, we worked with Drew on eliminating some of the work they would do and they prepped the areas for my husband to do the finishing work himself. Every one of the workers who came to do their part of the job was a professional in their trade and every one treated me and our home with utmost respect. The follow up by Drew was outstanding and we always knew who was coming to work the next day and where we were in the project plan. Since we started the remodel two weeks before Christmas Drew had his cleaning crew come the Saturday before Christmas to clean our home since he knew I was having overnight guests during the four day break before the work began again after Christmas. His team even washed my windows-inside and out- at no cost to me. There were some unexpected vents and electrical lines behind some walls that were removed so extra professionals were needed. Despite that, the work was completed earlier than expected and with no extra charges to us. As promised, our quote for the work was what we paid. My husband and I subscribed to Angie's List because we are new to San Diego and no one, not even our realtor, could give us the name of a contractor who was consistent in their work. We had a nightmare experience in remodeling our kitchen when living in VA so we did not want a repeat of that horrific and very expensive "lessons learned". If you are looking for a quality company and live by the motto " you get what you pay for" then Coastal Designs is a terrific choice. I have already referred friends to them and am telling my realtor as well!!! Finally, Coastal Designs specializes in Custom Baths & Kitchens so our job was not a typical assignment for them. They were willing to accommodate us due to the timing of our job and their other project completions before Christmas. I am very thankful it worked to our advantage!

My wife and I hired Drew at Coastal Designs to remodel our kitchen, powder room and family room. We spoke with two other contractors prior to Drew, and the difference in professionalism was night and day.  Drew was the obvious choice, and we were very confident in our decision and ready to get started on the project with Drew.  He arrived on time, was positive, and left us with a very professional and detailed quote, complete with samples.  My wife has always had a very specific (out of the box) vision for our remodel and did not want a cookie cutter project.  Drew was very attentive to every single detail and took notes during conversations.  He followed up on every point we talked about and even sent photos of options.  Drew found the exact materials we wanted and even had pieces custom made to fit our vision.   If there was a detail we were not sure about, Drew had very professional input about what to do.  He is definitely a designer as well.  My wife was thrilled because she was confident that she was getting her dream kitchen!   Once the remodel had officially started, everyday was an adventure.  Literally, something was happening everyday and that was exciting for us.   I think it is important that a project feels like it is moving along, and we weren't left idle without a kitchen for months. Drew never failed to impress.  Everything was meticulously planned and everyone showed up as expected.  We always knew what the plan for the day was.  This was very helpful as we have a toddler who needs routines, and we had to plan her days while the remodel was going on. One of the best things about Coastal Designs are the subcontractors.  Drew simply had the best of the best working for him. Everyone was timely, courteous, personable, and cleaned up at the end of the day.  I would not hesitate to have anyone on this crew over for dinner.    Our remodel was complete on time and on budget.  This was phenomenal.   True to his promise, there were zero charge ups unless it was something my wife and I changed during the process.  Everything was noticeably beautiful and it felt as if we had moved!  The floors that were once brown and scruffy are now sleek white and glossy.  The standard yellow/orange oak cabinets are replaced with gorgeous black and cream cabinets.  The appliances are all upgraded and matching.  The tacky microwave over the stove was gone and we now have three beautiful focal points across the space:  an oven hood you would see in a dream kitchen magazine, a crystal chandelier dazzling the dining space, and an ornate custom mantle in the family room.   The powder room is its own little space that matches the big space perfectly.   Everything is very cohesive and has very nice flow with colors and textures.   We finally feel that we are at home in our element.  We are beyond happy and have had nothing but compliments from family and friends.  We have already recommended and will continue to recommend Drew at Coastal Designs for any remodel project.  Thank you so much Drew for your passion for what you do and giving your clients a quality and personable experience.   We cannot thank you enough!
