Appliance Repair
Overall, the experience with Tony Tuttle of ApplianceUSA was horrible. He charged me $281.50 to replace a broken door latch on my stackable washer. The washer itself didn't cost much more than that and, in addition to his charges for his labor and parts, he had a $94.00 Diagnosis fee included in this total. He states in his advertisement that there is no Service Call Fee with a repair. The only reason I called him back to the house was that I hadn't realized when I called him in February that he was the same repairman that had come the previous August.
The February experience was much worse. He charged me $255.18 and he didn't repair anything that I had contacted him about. Of the $255.18 fee, $122.40 was for Diagnosis. He never actually diagnosed anything while he was at my house. My dishwasher is still not working right and my ice and water dispenser are also still not working properly. As a matter of a fact, since he installed a new spacer behind the water dispense the problem is even worse. The water doesn't stop dispensing when I remove my glass for about 4 seconds, and before the spacer was installed it was about 2 seconds.
I wouldn't have paid him the $255.18 but for 2 reasons - He told me he'd come back at another time and complete the repairs with little or no additional charges and ... I wanted him to go. When he got back to me a few days later, he told me that his charge to come back to my house and complete the repairs would be an additional $820 (on top of the $255) and this was only for the water dispenser - not the dishwasher or ice dispenser. Needles to say, I declined. I've asked him for a refund of my Diagnosis Fees which I believe are just another name for a Service Call fee which he states on his advertisement that he doesn't charge with repairs and both visits to my home he was paid for repairs and labor. As of this date and many e-mails to him, he has not returned the Diagnosis Fees to me. He basically responds to my requests with jibberish like "I am now referring you to Viking for future repairs" after I've asked him for my money back.
