Coundn't have been better and we learned more than we ever knew about how yard drainage is supposed to work which should be useful info if the El Nino turns out to be as projected.

Our house was built in 1960 and it is located on a fairly steep hill.  In the back of the property, there is a detached garage.  Starting from the street at the bottom of the hill to the back where the detached garage is, there was just asphalt.  It was about 2500 square feet of asphalt that was seriously in need of replacing - literally, there were potholes in my driveway.  Going up the hill on the south side of the house was a retaining wall that had eventually fallen over.  On top of that, there was no drainage anywhere.  With our house situated on a hill, we had concerns with regards to water getting to the foundation.
Michael and his crew demoed the driveway and wall- and, replaced it with beautiful paver stones and drystack blocks.  He made sure to install proper drainage throughout, ensuring water is always going away from the house and garage.
During their work here, Michael and his crew were very professional - working hard every day, performing high quality work, leaving no mess behind, and keeping open lines of communication.  This was a significant amount of hardscape work and I am truly impressed with the results.  We will definitely be looking to contact Michael again when we are ready to focus on more of the softscape work to be done.  Highly recommended.

The project went well, Michael came with his two workers to get them set up then let them do the majority of the work.  They did well and worked at a good pace.  The hill seems to be doing much better than before, we'll see how it and the drainage holds up when the rains come again.  The retaining wall and paving stones look really good too!  
Not long after they finished, one of the pipes they worked on broke.  He came right away to stop it from leaking and made plans to come back the following week to do the needed repairs when they could spend more time on it.  Michael has been really good at arranging warranty repairs to be done, it's been an overall good experience.

This process has lasted over a period of 1 1/2 years . It started out just having my patio extended but my wife and I were so happy with the job they did we came up with more things we wanted to have done .  In fact we had 3 Phases done .
We felt the prices were reasonable and the work was outstanding .
The crew always cleaned up at the end of the day , they were very polite and very punctual .
Michael ( owner) was always available to take my calls and oversaw the entire process .
Both my wife and myself are so proud of our new patio that we spend most of our time outside now.
I should add that my daugher and her husband had used them and recommended them to us .

Michael was great to work with and a consummate professional! 
He ALWAYS kept his appointments and was on time for our meetings. Any delays in the project were due to me not responding to him quickly enough (I travel out of state regularly). He was VERY patient, polite, easy to talk to and never rushed our discussions about the project. His follow up was excellent and he regularly checked in to make sure I was happy with how the project was progressing.
He gave excellent advice for landscaping the backyard so that it was very low maintenance and still really attractive. The deconstruction and rebuilding of the cement patio was done very quickly with absolutely no inconvenience to me. His crew was very friendly and efficient.
Mike checked with me before making any changes to the plan that may added additional costs and even took care of a couple unforeseen minor issues on his own without charging me for them.
I've gotten many compliments on the new patio and landscaping and I would HIGHLY recommend working with Mike!!!

Michael and Downunder were great.  I had a bare-bones outline of what I wanted, and he visited twice before commencing work to give suggestions and worked to get the project down into the range of my budget.  His planning was crucial - he took what I wanted to do and made all the little details work.  
On the first day of the job he showed up with a huge truckload of plants that we moved around the yard to see which ones I liked and where they would best go, and he returned the ones we didn't use - it was very helpful to get that visual.
His crew was incredibly polite and professional.  They brought their own Port-a-Potty and microwave to the site, cleaned up every evening, moved their gear out of the way and kept the walkways clear at all times.  
I was involved with every part of the project, and any additional expenses were brought to me before they were made.  They installed a concrete base for a fountain, ensuring it was level, and set up the fountain.  The irrigation system is perfect, low-use drip irrigation everywhere and I don't have to wander around my garden with a watering can anymore.  I had Michael put in a new controller for the sprinkler system and he installed one that was idiot-proof (a good idea with me), showed me how to use it, and set up the initial settings.  
They even took surprises in stride.  When planting a hedge, they discovered buried concrete pilings that I didn't even know were there.  They took the initiative to go down and rent a jackhammer and remove it so we could continue planting, all while I was out of the house.
Michael also had fantastic ideas with lighting - that is one of his specialties and he's been to many conferences about lighting.  He lit my steps, which are dangerous in the dark, with a combination of small, classy, and low-profile lights that look absolutely fantastic.  He could have easily talked me into spending twice that much on lights, but he instead recommended the understated approach and worked to get into my price range.
All in all, I couldn't be any happier with the job that was done, from the planning stages to completion.  He worked to keep the entire project within my (relatively small) budget, helped plan the project, installed fantastic lighting and irrigation systems, and always communicated with me promptly and honestly.  They absolutely transformed my yard, and the results were even better than I anticipated.  I would highly recommend Downunder, and will certainly be using Michael and his crew for any work in the future.

We contacted Michael Hartigan to plant flowers and bushes in our yard, and to install lights around the walkway. He is very knowledgable about what type of plants would grow in each of the areas of our yard. He brought dozens of different plants, relandscaped the area and installed lights where we wanted them. Everything looked great, in fact there was agarden show going on at the same time, and some of the people wanted me to enter the show next year because our yard looked so good. Overall it was a good experience with a knowledgable guy who did made our yard look great.

Everything was very smooth.  Michael had great ideas.  Price was half of the other bid.  They made use of my existing plants wherever possible. Did a good job of cleaning up.  I referrred to a friend and she was also pleased with his work.

The job was accurately bid, the landscape design was excellent and completed on time.  Mike Hartigan and his crew are outstanding.  I am thrilled with the outcome of the project.  They are a pleasure to work with.

It went great!  Michael created a great garden spot.  I would highly recommend him for anyone's landscaping needs and would use him again for any future project I might have.

He responded promptly to  our phone calls and e-mails. He resolved some minor changes and adjustments to our complete satisfaction.
 
  His crew was on time every day and cleaned up before leaving. They were creative and resourceful in performing their job. Their workmanship was of highest quality. Michael came often to check the work to ensure that everything was done to our satisfaction.
