They gave me a bid that included putting up a scaffolding to reach the roof and indicated the job would take two days.  When they did the job they used an extension ladder and the job was done in 2 days.  When I asked the company to adjust their price since it wasn't as extensive as they had made it to be, the costumer service was unhelpful and the owner refused to adjust the price sighting my signed contract. They then proceeded to threaten to put a lean on my town house.  I paid the remaining half of the bill, but had a strong aftertaste of having been scammed.

He was very good and I would use him again. The guy showed up on time and he knew what he was doing. He left the place very clean.

The owner, Greg figured out the problem quickly, but it took quite a while for the parts from Heatilator to arrive. Once they did, Mike came in and tested the fireplace repeatedly to make sure it was working fine. They kept me in the loop while we were all waiting for the parts to show up. They did a great job and I'd use them again.

Admittedly, it took a bit longer than anticipated to finish the project, however, Tim, the foreman, is a very hard worker. He was there every day on time, kept us in the loop on what was happening and was overall a pleasure to work with. The chimney looks great!

They provided a comprehensive review/evaluation for approx. $90. They uncovered some pretty significant defects that were helpful for us during the house negotiation. They provided estimates for the repairs, as well as an estimate for a cost saving alternate that would achieve the same net result for half the cost. I would use them again not only for inspections, but for construction work as well.

Upon inspection of our new (to us) home, it was determined the 65 year-old chimney was in dire need of repair. We obtained several quotes and decided to go with The Chimney Experts. While their quote was approximately $100 more, they were the only company to straight-out offer a warranty on the labor, which meant to us they were willing to stand behind their service.
Our move into the home was on hold until these services could be completed (and thus, additional days spent in temporary housing) and the timing was complicated by several factors outside their control: 1) close of escrow; 2) completion of termite tenting; 3) gas being turned back on to the house. Understanding our plight, they were very flexible to accomodate our timeline and work around the outside complications.
The work was completed in two stages, the first being the application of the chemical cleansing agent. The technician was prompt, courteous, efficient and very friendly. He was careful with his work and took extraordinary measures to protect the work area. After several days allowing the chemicals to eat away the heavy layer of creosote, the same technician was back to complete the work. Since this phase of the work meant frequent trips in and out of the house, he meticulously secured the area inside to protect the floors and furniture.
We were impressed with the work, the company and its employees from start to finish!

Gave a reasonable evaluation, came when they said, did what they said, charged what they said, work done to high quality.

Work that was supposed to be completed in four weeks took 3 months. Based on a review from November 2012, it is obvious that Greg diverted his resources to do another job (remove fireplace from a living room) even though he was under contract and a timeline for my job. Greg Butler is very friendly and smooth and seems to be the real deal, but he is not. He leaves all of the work to his employees and he does not supervise their day-to-day activities. Because of my experience with Greg Butler and Chimney Experts, I had a Chimney Inspector review Greg Butler's work. This is some of what the inspector said about Greg's work-- these are not my words, they are the words of the inspector, to whom I gave an A rating on Angie's List.

The chimney system has installation errors that need to be corrected to ensure proper operation. The points listed in this report present potential fire safety hazards and are against the installation requirements of the manufacturer.
There is no safety clamp on the damper plate. Dangerous gases may enter the living room and carbon monoxide poisoning may occur if the damper is left in the closed position.
Support tabs are needed to hold the log grate in place. One was found in the ash bucket on the floor with loose screws and the other was missing.
The metal ember guard under the firebox was not designed or installed properly.
The inner flue pipe was not properly installed. Do not operate this fireplace until the flue pipe has been properly installed.
Wires to the valve and pilot were left exposed and are subject to heat damage
The surround at the top of the chimney does not conform to minimum requirements set by the FMI.
Roof tiles were broken in the conduct of Greg Butler's work.
If you use Greg Butler, have a fireplace inspector follow-up on his work to ensure quality and safety.

The Chimney Experts Inc. I would say they were nice, but it took them forever to get the work done. They came out a month ago. They came out and did the initial chimney sweep and then I ordered a gas log from them and it came in. But then it took them about three more weeks to get out here and get it installed. It was about $800. They were friendly and they did communicate. I just wasn't real happy with the time frame. I think they know what they are doing, and didn't have a problem with their work, I just had a problem with the timing.

Overall a pleasant experience. Responsive and service oriented with pride in the quality of work performed.

The chimney sweep appointment setup with Marlena was great...very nice, quick response. She was unable to answer one of my questions but gave me an email address to someone who would know. I sent an email and got a response right away. When I wrote back and asked if the repair could be done at the same time as the sweep...I got no response. Ok, well, I figured 2 out of 3 contacts went fine, I'll go ahead and keep the appointment and hope they show up.
The and quot;techniciansand quot; arrived right on time! They told me that my chimney wasn't in need of cleaning at this time (which I appreciated and gave them a C instead of an F for overall experience since they did not perform what would have been an unnecessary service). BUT, the technician told me there was a possible problem with the first joint which could pose a fire hazard. He said they would need to look up the chimney with video equipment to see if other joints were also affected. BUT...he didn't have the equipment with him. His boss had it and he didn't know when his boss could come by with the equipment. He said it was an and quot;easy fixand quot; even if there were other joints not properly aligned.
Of course, I wanted this to be checked out ASAP because of the possible fire hazard. I asked if the technician could find out from his boss when this work could be done. I provided several options for available appointment times (since we were moving into the home and having other work done on the house). I made sure the technician had my cell phone number so he could call me with an appointment time. He actually said he'd text me later that day. There was another repair that needed to be done as well, but I was assured the video stuff and the small repair job could easily be done in the same visit...and they'd set up my gas logs at that time, too. He was very nice and I felt that the job was in good hands. However, I never got a call or text that day...or any other day.
It's almost a week later and not a peep from this company. No calls, no texts, no emails, nothing. Unprofessional. Very disappointed at the lack of response and lack of follow through...from the lack of email response to the lack of follow through on a subsequent appointment to do the actual work. I will be using someone else to do the work on my chimney.

They were good. They arrived on time and finished the work in a timely manner. They lived up to their estimate. There was a chimney issue and it was up on the roof and I couldn't go up there to see. They actually brought the material down so I could see what the damage was and appreciate what was going on.

Showed up on time, explained what they were doing and worked quickly and efficiently. Cleaned up and left the area very clean.. I would hire them again.

Whie other chimney companies tried to sell us on rebuilding our chimney from the ground up, Greg at Chimney Experts showed us how he could install a new metal flue system and add reinforcements at a 1/4 of the cost of replacement. After talking to countless Chimney companies, I found Chimney Experts to be the most knowledgeable and professional. They showed up on time, did good work, came in on budget and left our home looking cleaner than when they arrived.
They were referred by a friend who used them and had nothing, but great things to say about Greg and the rest of his team at The Chimney Experts. After using them ourselves, I agree, they are the best!

The Chimney Experts, Inc. provided outstanding service to us recently. I first meet and used there service on a referral when we wanted to have our chimney swept and firebox cleaned. They were in and out in about one hour and left the hearth cleaner than when they arrived. At the end of the service they reported that our chimney was in really good shape and no additional service was needed at this time. About one year later during a major rain and windstorm I heard water dripping and running down the face of the firebox. I contacted Greg Butler the President of The Chimney Experts, Inc. and they came out and inspected the flashing and raiser of our chimney. In his expert opinion what had happened was the high wind and driving rain had seeped thought a crack in the flashing. He sealed it with silicone rubber sealant and assures me we should be fine for the next monsoon event in the Santa Claita Valley. I recommend Greg Butler of The Chimney Experts, Inc. to all my friends with chimneys.
