Handyman Service
(Continued) break the tile, replace the shower pan and new tile delaying close of escrow and inconveniencing me for approximately 3 weeks. I requested repeatedly that he remain on the job site to oversee his workers work, but because he had taken on so many jobs, he advised me he was unable. The shower pan leak was ultimately repaired and Mr. Carey did honor his workmanship from 7 years ago without charging me. It was unfortunate that his worker's work was poor and Mr. Carey really did not do anything to address that issue. I personally like Mr. Carey in that he's a very nice guy and has a sincere concern for his customers but because his workers do shoddy work and take short cuts, it's the clients that become frustrated and inconvenienced as they have to call him out multiple times on a project that should have been done right the first time. I had a similar incident with French doors that were installed during the original construction in 2006 in that they weren't hung properly and every time I opened the door, it dragged on the floor. Mr. Carey had his main guy come out 7X that I counted to adjust the door so it would not drag on the floor. It was never properly fixed. If you hire Carey, he'll give you a very reasonable price, but you have to watch what his guys do, because he won't and you'll end up calling him multiple times to repair something his guys did.

My advice for other members is to stay away. Mr. Carey did not supervise his workers, he lied to the California Contractor's Licensing Board, he did not carry Worker's Compensation even though he signed on the contract that he did. He used wrong materials. Instead of being done in a week, completion was after 2 months and only after another contractor was brought in at my expense. The licensing board is investigating him. There has been a small claims suit filed. Robert Carey is a nightmare. Stay away
