If you want to deal with an HONEST contractor with INTEGRITY, call BRIAN SCOTT at PACIFIC ELECTRIC.  I was referred to Brian by a good friend in San Diego.  I'm a former San Diegan who now lives in New Jersey.  I have two rental properties in San Diego that have needed some electrical repairs and additional work but it has been difficult because I am out of state.  I called Brian the evening of 4/23.  He arrived at my property and spoke with my tenant at 8am the next morning, exactly when he said he would be there.  He reviewed the problems, went to the second property and met with that tenant.  By noon (San Diego time) I had an estimate via email that included photographs of the problem areas, and a very specific breakdown of the work that needed to be done.  I had also asked him to take a look around to make sure that as far as the electric was concerned, that the units were safe.  He gave me a short description of 2 items that he thought should be addressed (an exterior outlet that seemed to be broken or chewed by critters, and an outside security motion detector that wasn't working).  He could have given me a massive list and I may not have been the wiser.  His estimate was very reasonable and I told him he had the job.  On 4/26 he made the repairs and additions and did the two additonal items and never charged me.  My tenants were very impressed with how professional and friendly Brian is.  He again arrived on time, and he and his crew cleaned up after themselves - you would never have known they were there.  He took the time to walk them through the work he was bidding as well as taking time on the phone with me.  One tenant, an elderly lady, couldn't get over how nice he was - he replaced some light bulbs she couldn't reach in her home, and reset all her clocks, etc. that went off when he had to shut off the electricity to complete the work.  As I understand it, Brian is a native of San Diego and works all over San Diego County - you couldn't work with a better contractor!  He does commercial property repairs as well and I've referred him to several friends - one with a retail store and another that owns a warehouse.
