WEST VALLEY PET LODGE
About us
West Valley Pet Lodge is family owned & operated since 1988. We are the one and only kennel in the area that can provide your pet with a "natural day". By that we mean a sunrise, and a sunset in beautiful Campbell. Your pet will not be confined to the four walls of an indoor facility that keeps them under artificial light most of the day, and deprives them of the fresh air we all seek and need. We are a traditional kennel - an old fashioned kennel, if you will. We don't shy away from that description. For well over 20 years we've seen the fads come and go as to the best way to care for pets. We've been tempted -(group play, communal boarding, tv, et al). But for us, safety, security, and the health of your pet is paramount, and we know our way is the best way. We encourage all pet owners to check our all of their options. Please visit every facility you are considering, and thank you for considering West Valley Pet Lodge

We had originally planned for the cats to be boarded for only a week and a half. Unfortunately, circumstances changed and we had to call and extend the cats stay for 3 more days. The staff were very accommodating and assured us the cats could stay and would be fine for the extra days.
I would highly recommend this facility to others. Our dog will be joining us in California in the next few weeks and we will definitely be boarding the 2 cats and dog with this facility in the future (we were able to see the dog portion and the cages are in excellent condition to board our 57lb dog and we have the ability to request one to one play time with a staff member). Also, this facility was the cheapest facility we found in the area.
I dinged them just a little in the price category, because even though we love the service, the drop off and pick up times are very limited for working people, and especially if you want to get your dogs out on a holiday or weekend (you can't, without special arrangements, and you still have to pay through for days you did not stay). So we ended up paying for more days than we actually stayed. As a point of comparison, I still think it was worth it for the added care and attention, and for the dogs having outdoor time.
Lastly, we have one doggie who is not so good with strangers. Nonetheless, he seemed to do well with the staff of WVPL -- no problems. So we were happy about that!
Our first stop there was unannounced and we were pleased to get a tour of the whole facility, and all of the dog runs were amazingly clean and all dogs looked happy and active. The play area is fenced in and very nice. The runs are indoor-outdoor and covered so the dogs won't be baking in the sun, and can stay warm if they wish. There is a raised platform for the dogs to sleep comfortably too.
We could tell that the folks that worked there really cared about the dogs and the clients, and everything was explained to us, including the nutrition of the food that they supply so that we could compare fat-content of their daily food to make sure that they could transition without getting sick. We could bring our own food if we wanted. They were also willing to allow us to bring any toys for the dogs we wanted.
We stopped back in 2 more times unannounced and were welcomed to inspect the property again. Every time, it was the same wonderful experience. They gave us a 10% off coupon for their first stay, which was a nice bonus!
We housed our dogs there for 10 days during our vacation, and came back to happy healthy dogs that smelled great. We have since taken them there 2 more times and had the same wonderful experience every time. We were thrilled to see an Angie's List coupon in a couple of the latest monthly booklets, and used one at our last stop. The times we've taken our dogs, they are happy to be there. They actually run for the door, and are excited to see the staff members! They happily head to the back without even a goodbye lick! Amazing.
We'll keep going back. Why even look for anywhere else?
""We are of course happy that the member was pleased with our services, but feel we need to comment on her "size of runs" comments. Our kennel runs easily accommodate dogs from Yorkies or Chihuahuas, to Mastiffs or Irish Wolfhounds. We've kenneled all, including our own 3 Irish Wolfhounds - 2 of them, together in one of the runs designed for just that purpose. Perhaps we failed to show her that area of the kennel. Sorry!"
