Van Briggle Floors

Van Briggle is far from the cheapest, and yet the end result was lacking. The crew who did the final finishing seemed to be getting on-the-job training, using my floor. I am still finding areas where the polyurethane 'pooled' and was not spread evenly. Bob was not pleasant to work with when issues arose. He requested a 50% downpayment- seems high.

I called literally 15 hardwood floor dealers on Angie's list and was desperate because I was under an extremely tight tight line to move out of a rental place get the floors done in my new house (3 weeks).  Bob gave me a heart attack when he said he could not only give me a quote but do the work in under 3 weeks (others couldn't do it for two months) and still wanted to charge me for a quote even though they couldn't do the work.  He came over to my house and looked around and gave me a quote within the day.  I came down to his shop the next day and picked out a hardwood floor.  He is not only professional but has an extremely great personality.  He is extremely accommodating when arranging to drop off contracts and picking up payments if you work full time and the workers did a great job on the floor installation.  I was just giddy with the quality of the job.  I would highly recommend them.  He even gave me a cleaner for the floor and floor dots for the furniture.  Thank you so much!!

I think they did a great job. There was an issue from a previous painting job, in which he gouged the floor while moving the fridge. They were able to get it fixed for me during a very stressful moment after the painter had finished.

The whole transaction was handled very professionally by Van Briggle Floors. It was a positive and pleasant experience for me from start to finish.

The seemed to have a good price and they were pleasant to deal with and they did what they said they were going to do when they said they were going to do it. The price wasn't cheap.

The guys at Van Briggle Floors were a joy to work with and did an outstanding job. We visited several other showrooms and received quotes from 3 including Van Briggle Floors. We decided to go with them based on their outstanding reputation (not only on Angie's list but with other contractors in the area), years of experience and the fact we got a really good feeling from our dealings with both Bob Van Briggle, the owner, and Bill Abraham, who managed our project.
On the first day of the installation both Bob and Bill were here to make sure everything was ready to go and the floor was prepped properly. Its my understanding Bob does the same with each of his clients which I think speaks volumes about the quality of work done. The installation of the flooring was 1st class and both my wife and I love our new floor.
I would highly recommend Van Briggle Floors. In fact we are planning to have wood flooring installed in a couple of other areas in our home and are looking forward to working with Bob and Bill again.

They were a little bit more expensive, but they made up for it in terms of service and range of products that they had available for us to choose from. So they had a wide variety. Their knowledge of the wide variety of products that they had available really stood out to us. We just felt that we were getting a knowledgeable experience. So that was good because we didn't know much about the different types of flooring. The people were knowledgeable and helpful. They were willing to work with us in terms of what we truly needed.

The price was reasonable. They did excellent work. I thought that they fetched a little higher on things.

That was good! Their price was reasonable. I just did not have time to get in the schedule that the guy work on, but they seemed like a noble people.

Van Briggle was not the cheapest, but based on other reviews and meeting
Dale for the estimate we decided to go with them. They did an
excellent job and matched the hallway hardwood floor exactly. There was
an an issue with what they found under the floor, but Bob came out
immediately and resolved the issue. The workers were very polite and
professional and made sure that everything was taped and no dust got
into the rest of the house. The only thing I would have liked is that
they removed and reinstalled the baseboard for an extra fee but did not
seal/grout the baseboard. For the price I would think this would have
been included. Otherwise excellent and would definitely use them again.

Installation went ok. They came out 6 months later at our request as several planks were getting easily damaged. They agreed to replace some planks and we never heard from them again.

They used pre-treated hardwood. The price was competitive. What we liked about them is that they are able to do custom work on stairs. Nobody else offered the custome work and the work was spectacular. It was nice and shiny and the end result was beautiful. They matched hardwood stain on stairs to the pre-finished floors.

Bob showed up promptly for the appointment to get the estimate. He spent time explaining the options clearly and we received the estimate on time.

There was floor damage in a number of areas. There was extensive damage in one part due to a water leak years ago. There was also a sizable crack in the living room. They repaired all of these areas and you cannot tell there was ever a problem. After the work was completed I noticed 2 small rough patches. They had someone come out and fix them the next morning. The floors look beautiful and we're very happy with the results.

Only two issues - the estimated time for completion was a couple of days shorter than reality. And they dinged a couple of pieces of furniture in the moving.

We wanted to replace our aging carpet with hardwood floors. We researched quite a few vendors in the Bay Area and finally settled with Van Briggle Floors, based on the positive reports on Angie's List and Yelp. Boy, were we glad we chose them! Right from start to finish, they were extremely professional, accommodating and timely in their work. Van Briggle Floors have been in the flooring business for over 25 years. They are experts when it comes to installing and repairing hardwood floors. Since ours was a fairly big project, we went the extra mile to ensure that we chose the right contractor for the job. Van Briggle floors exceeded our expectations in every respect. We would highly recommend them to anyone who is looking to installing or repairing hardwood floors.

Replaced a water damaged wooden floor in a study (16 feet x 28 feet). Water had penetrated the floor at the edges and warped the existing floor which unfortunately could not be repaired. First I had my contractor remove the existing floor before Van Briggle came which was a tough job and took two days as the company who installed the previous floor five years ago (San Jose Hardwood floors) had very thoroughly glued the wood to the concrete - never a good idea if you ever think you might need to repair it (you can't). As it turned out, the floor was not level so the first task for Van Briggle was to level it. This took a couple of extra days as it had to dry. Then they laid out a waterproof barrier and padding before putting down the floor. They glued the pieces together but not to the floor so it floats freely and can expand if needed. The result is visual stunning and a pleasure to walk on as the floor has a slight bounce and does not betray the concrete which lies underneath.

Great customer service, very responsive, good attention to detail, excellent communication and execution. Bob Van Briggle followed through on deadlines, dates and finishing details thoroughly.

They did a really great job. I spent about $3000 on that work. They were easy to get an estimate from and gave me a free estimate. They let me borrow some of their samples to bring to my house. I felt that they did quality work quickly and followed through with what they said they were going to do.

Van Briggle rep (Bill) took our order for the selected flooring and explained the process for removing the existing flooring and installing the new hardwood. Workers were punctual and pleasant to work with. The entire process took five days. Baseboards and transition strips were included. The flooring is lovely and professionally installed. These guys know what they're doing, have a solid background of experience and do a fine job.

Since the wood that I chose for the living room had varied color and grain in the pieces, they laid out the pieces before nailing them down.Tim, the lead, did a great job of sorting through the wood and only using pieces that were similar color and grain next to each other. I'm very fussy and found that Tim had already tagged pieces to be changed out before I could even request a change. When I saw how Tim worked, I was comfortable going off on a vacation and letting them finish the work when I was out of town. I came home to a beautifully done new floor and couldn't find anything to fault in the installation. They did a good job of cleaning up after themselves and the floor is beautifully installed. I'm especially glad that I paid a bit extra for the feature strips. Also, they were willing to modify the orignal bid for materials to match a competing bid.

The project was completed as scheduled. They did a professional job, and did not leave a mess behind. We are very happy with the new flooring.

Bob Van Briggle was involved in estimating, ordering, and overseeing the job. He's great to work with. His team was here on time each day. They completed the job on time. Cleaned up after themselves each day and at the end of the job. Before they began, we removed all furniture from upstairs and downstairs. We moved out for a couple of days while they did the tile demo and laid flooring upstairs. Then we moved back into the bedrooms upstairs while they finished the stairs and downstairs, replaced baseboards, and cleaned up. So it was important to us that they finish on time. We would work with Van Briggle again without hesitation. We were very pleased with the quality of the work, the attention to schedule, price, and details, and their professional and courteous team. We had them back to replace some of the flooring in a bedroom next to my son's shower, which had leaked under the wall and ruined some of the hardwood. Again, an excellent experience working with Van Briggle.

They were spot-on. They were really fantastic. One man put part of the floor down to make sure I liked it before he went further. I decided to have them do the whole job rather than part of it, and I feel like I made the right decision.

Second time I've used this company. Started a day earlier than scheduled, then had a delay causing the work to be finished a week later than scheduled. Had to match an existing entry flooring that they had installed in January 2001 (almost 7 years ago). First stain attempt didn't match, and they re-sanded and re-stained to get a good match. Beautiful new floor!

They did a great job. They were on time and did everything right the first time. The floors looked beautiful. They are very professional, neat and clean. I would recommend them highly.
