Mark arrived exactly on time. He removed his shoes at the front door (not expected) and proceeded to tune the piano for 3hrs and 15 minutes. He also repaired the lid for the keys ( which was broken ) and then adjusted the piano bench and replaced missing screws. All this as a courtesy. He was very polite and professional . Highly recommend Mark.

The piano is a Bosendorfer parlor grand. The first time Mark tuned it, he did such a good job that I asked him back a couple of weeks later. These tunings were for a friend who is a professional classical pianist and wanted to use the piano to do recording for her new CD. She had used a recording studio before, and was not satisfied with the quality of the recoding and needed to do it over. The recording technician and the friend both agreed Mark's tuning of my piano was excellent both times for both recording sessions. The CD was created and is now being sold. We could be happier with Mark's work. My friend is also recommending him and wants to start having him tune her piano, too.
He does take a rather long time. He spent three hours each time. If you need him to tune your piano for a special event, make sure to allow plenty of time.

Mark arrived a little late, but called to let me know of the traffic holdup and arrived within 15 minutes of calling. My piano hadn't been tuned for six years and several keys were sticking. He showed me the hammers that were not responsive and went about tuning and repairing the piano. It took about two hours as he had indicated it would. Price included $145 tuning plus $30 repair. Craig was conscientious enough to remove his shoes before walking on the carpet. I appreciated that.

I called Mark, and we scheduled a home visit for about two days later. He was upfront about how long he would likely take to tune the piano and what the price would be.He was on time and came prepared. While he had never seen this particular brand of upright piano before, he showed that he was quite familiar with how to handle it.He first vacuumed it out and checked it over. This piano had sat unused for quite some time and was significantly out of tune. Mark put 'numbers' to this in terms of deviation. We took his advice that for the sake of the piano, the strings, and being able to hold the tuning that the work should be done in steps rather than one leap. He brought the piano a little more than halfway to 'true' and made it so that the keys are all 'off' by the same amount so that it can be played now.We will see him in September after the strings have had a chance to 'rest'. He was willing to make the piano fully in tune on that visit, but after discussing the pro and cons with him, we're opting to commit to a third visit in the expectation that the piano will keep its tuning better that way.Mark was patient and methodical during his work. He stayed longer than the estimated two hours but did not add anything to his fee. He spent time with us pointing out details about the condition of the piano (the hammers, tuning pins, etc.) to help us understand what life the piano has left. He also gave an overview of how I could attempt to clean up the keys without damaging the rest of the piano. While we are opting for three visits to get the work done, I have no concerns about whether Mark upsold us. He gave us facts and options and let us decide what fit best with our budget and long-term plans for the piano.

He really seems to know pianos. I have an original historical model piano and he was well acquainted with it. I think he was the only piano tuner I knew. I remember we found out through the company where we bought the piano.
