+ removing the old tile and soaked hardy-backer/dry wall.
+ preserving a marble bench and pony-wall caps for re-use in the restored shower

My wife and I were very impressed with Jim's team's punctuality, attention to detail and most importantly workmanship. It seemed like everyone on the team really took pride in their work - and it showed. You may be able to find someone cheaper but if you want quality work at a reasonable price, I would definitely recommend Jim and his team.
Based on the excellent work JH Construction had done at our house in Campbell, when we bought a house near the Russian river, we contracted with JH Construction to do extensive work on the new house. This included rebuilding a huge deck (over 1000 square feet) that had rot in the joists (and it turned out that the rot had spread from the joists, to the ledger and into the wood siding on our hose). They also put in new foundation anchor bolts, did a minor kitchen remodel (electrical and plumbing work), moved a sink in the laundry room, removed the old hot water heater and installed a new hot water heater in a new location, replaced some water lines, ran new gas pipes, fixed leaking plumbing in one of the bathrooms, replaced sheetrock in several locations, replaced some rotting exterior trim and wood siding, and repairs to the interior doors and molding. Jim also recommended an HVAC contractor who installed a new central heating system for us. We were very pleased with all of the work and we are planning on using JH Construction in the future when we remodel the kitchen and one of the bathrooms.
It is very important to us that anyone working on our house does the job right, doesn't cut corners, and always keeps the work site clean. Jim, the owner of JH Construction, shares the same attitude.
Jim was the general for a bathroom remodel at a vacation home in South Lake Tahoe. He performed and managed the entire process including all permitting, carpentry and finish work. His plumbing, electrical, and tile subcontractors were equally professional, courteous and clean in their work. The results far exceeded our expectations and the project was competed within our budget, and ahead of schedule.
When we were preparing to sell my father's home we contacted JH regarding damaged door trim on two of the interior doors. We were prepared to replace all of the door trim in the house and had budgeted a few thousand dollars for the material and labor and planned on a 2-3 week timeframe. Jim came over and inspected the damage and we were pleased to hear that the damage could be repaired and that we did not need to replace all of the trim on the house. He went on to repair the trim and over the course of a few days made several brief visits to repair and then paint the affected areas.
There are several other projects I could comment on, but one is particularly telling of the customer service and broad skill-set the Jim provides. On a Sunday morning we heard a water leak in an interior wall between our kitchen and laundry room. After investigating the source of the leak and its location it was clear that we needed help. I called JH Construction at around noon, and by 5pm that day Jim arrived and began repair. The work included cutting a hole in our floor (the leak was not accessible via our crawl space) and re-piping the leaking section and then closing up the hole and re-tacking out carpet. He was finished and cleaned out by 11pm. This work was not a big project, and I suspect was not profitable, but that did not matter to Jim. We are his customers and he was more than willing to interrupt his weekend and make a special trip because it was an emergency.
I found that J H Construction & Remodeling was extremely thorough in their proposal and presentation. They did a great job-Jim Humphrey the owner, was on site frequently and always contactable. The quality of the tile work, the granite counter tops with cabinets, and the paint and texturing of the walls were fantastic. Even for a perfectionist, as I am, I was thoroughly pleased with the results.
Since then I have had JH Construction & Remodeling do various other construction projects around the house - they created a well needed closet in on of the bedrooms, reworked the structure on the out side deck and found the only sink, made bo Kohler to fit in the corner of the small 3rd bath in the home.
We are looking forward to having JH Construction completely remodel our kitchen next year. We know they will do one fantastic job.
We are very satisfied and highly recommend them for a great quality work.
