Edward is the whole package! He is friendly, accommodating and always professional. He was very patient and answered all of my questions. He answered and returned my calls, keeping me updated with the project, especially since a special part needed to be ordered. He worked around my work schedule on the day of installation and provided texts as to his arrival. Excellent communication. The work was high quality and the price reasonable. Most importantly, he provided his recommendations but never pressured me to get something done I didn't want. I think Edward is genuinely honest and that is hard to find in service professionals. He got our power back up and running, quick and painless, as if nothing had ever happened. Upon completion, I told Edward I had bad news...that I was going to keep his name and number in my Rolodex because I will definitely call him again for any other electrical concerns! He thanked me and appreciated the humor. Highly recommended!
Description of Work
Replace bad main breaker in house panel. This was for an original Zinsco panel. Edward has the knowledge and experience with these older and outdated panels.

The scheduler and electrician were professional and kept me informed about the timing of the service call. Now I have an electrical company that I feel very confident with.
Description of Work
Replaced an outlet and checked three others I was concerned about. Was able to open the electrical panel that I couldn't. Found a tripped switch,untripped it and showed me how to do that correctly Fixed the panel door so I can open it.

They came earlier then scheduled, kept in contact via text and phone call. Called me 15 mins ahead of arrival. Very professional and knowledgeable fixed it in about 20 mins and gave me advice on what to do with PG&E. GREAT SERVICE! he wouldn't even allow me to tip him!
Description of Work
I blew a breaker when contractors were at the house using their high amperage tools to build a fence and cut the cement. I opened the breaker to try and reset it but it would not reset, turns out the breaker panel itself needs to replaced because its outdated and old. They came out made a temporary fix and got the power up again until I can get PG&E out to replace the lines and panel.

One person came out and he was very prompt. He was great, we had a power outage, he came out, saw all the parts that we needed, then went off to fetch them, came back within an hour and fixed it. It was all easy, well done, and we are happy with the work.

He got here and gave me the quote but I got a bad feeling that it was too expensive. The quote included fixing the connector and installing a new light. I decided not to have him install the light, just fix the connector. After the work was completed, I compared his price to multiple other electricians and his price was almost double!

Dear Member, We appreciate clients writing reviews about the services we have performed. Honestly we were not expecting this review from you, and I will explain why. Before I started your project I presented to you what it will cost. I asked you twice if you wanted to call back the other two electricians that on two different visits have charged you low price but left you with a life safety hazard. But you told me verbatim “Edward, I can not get hold of them and honestly I don’t want them to this work, lets do it the proper way and make sure it is done correctly” So, we proceeded with the repair and at the end you were very thankful. Then you have called several average electricians and over the phone gave a vague simplified version of description of the completed task and expected to get a price that was comparable to our service. Here are some reasons why you have received low prices. 1. Your description of the task was not accurate. 2. The other “average” electricians can not compete with our level of service or warranty. 3. They gave you an “ESTIMATE” only based on your vague description and without seeing the work, then will raise the price after the job is completed. 4. Even if they did come out, they could not have seen what had been involved because the project was done already. 5. We pay our people well and do look forward to a long lasting relationships with all of our clients. That is why we have been in business for 15 years. When I was there I noticed how gentle and caring you were with your client’s dog. And I am sure you do charge a premium for your services, because you give good value, Will it be fair if a client writes an ugly review because an unqualified person does a similar service as yours but without the love and the care and charges less than you do? I am sure you will agree that it won’t be fair. We appreciate you removing this unfair negative review. Besides how did we get "C" grade for our response time when you were scheduled immediately for a Saturday appointment to accommodate your calendar.??? Edward, Managing partner E.G. The electrician, Edward, was extremely professional, punctual, conscientious and courteous. He communicated the scope of the project very clearly from the beginning, and he followed through exactly as planned and completed the project right on time. He did a terrific job. I will certainly contact him again if I ever need help with electrical work on my home.

I asked for an appointment in the coming week for a couple of outlet fixtures in a house we were going to move in to the following week. I mentioned a couple of times to the operator that I must absolutely have the fixes made on that day and whether they would be able to get it done on time and on that day. I get a "yes" both times I ask this. They give me an appointment stated as "between 8 and 830am our guy will be there"; I tell the receptionist that since I don't live in the house, if they could give me a call if they arrived and I wasn't there. Come appointment day, I was running late for the 8am, but I get no call. I reach the house at 815am; see that the guy has left a very irritating "Sorry You Missed Your Appointment" note wrapped in a Diamond-certified etc. brochure. As if, it was my appointment and not his...hmm. I called them immediately on arrival and ask why I wasn't told if he was going to take off - I get a sorry from their phone operator and a "tough luck, he's already off to somewhere else; and we don't have appointments for the next 3 weeks" response. I was left high and dry. I wondered how the guy was going to do the job I asked him, if he couldn't wait 15 mins, cursed my luck for picking a top-rated eletrician off of Angie's list, and went to work. Loads of fun (sarcasm).

Ed showed up on time, diagnosed the problem and made several suggestions for what could be done (replace the ballasts, replace the entire lighting structure, replace the lighting box with different types of lights altogether). I was a bit surprised at how much just replacing the ballasts was going to cost, but I had been putting it off for quite a while and the lights were no longer working. I chose to just replace the ballasts, partially because it was the least expensive option and would take the least amount of time. Once we agreed on that, he had to go purchase the ballasts, then come back and replace them. The lights work great and he was pleasant and professional. Perhaps I have been out of touch too long on how much any kind of electrical work costs, but $930 seemed like a lot. Maybe everyone charges that much now. He did give me the 10% discount for Angie's list members, so I saved $90.

wHe visited my home approximately 22 August to learn what the job was. He gave me some good suggestions about alternative approaches and promised to send me a proposal with detailed options. He looked good; expected him to be my contractor. I telephoned a couple of times. The message on their answering machine said that they would be unavailable until 9 September. Their mailbox was full and would not accept my message. I tried to telephone on 9 September. I got the same message. The mailbox had not been emptied and I was unable to leave a message. I succeeded in leaving a voice mail message on Tuesday 10 September 2013. No one ever returned my call. This morning (Monday 23 September 13) I awarded the job to another bidder. This may not be his typical behavior. There may have been some sort of emergency; I don't know, but surely he could have called by now.

Edward did a great job across the board, from communication and responsiveness, to coordinating the subcontracting work (like stucco) and permitting, to finishing the job on time and within budget. His prices are very competitive and reasonable. I would highly recommend him for any electrical job. Update: Edward performed a second job at our house to install recessed ceiling lights in two rooms. In addition to doing his usual great job on the installation, he was very helpful in advising us on where to position the lights and which kind to choose for various locations and purposes. You usually need to hire an interior designer for that kind of advice, but he is the rare electrician who also has the esthetic touch!

I called EG Electrical Services to get a quote for installing a new outlet in my home. In my message, I detailed roughly what I estimated needed to be done, my name, and my phone number. I had called on a Sunday afternoon, so I wasn't surprised that the phone wasn't answered. However, I assumed that my call would be returned within a day (or at least two). It's been over a week since I called and still haven't heard back from them. I called EG Electrical Services specifically because the ratings on Angie's List for responsiveness and punctuality, but I definitely haven't experienced the same level of service as other's who have rated them so high.

Edward replaced my main and sub electrical panels. He arrived on time, finished the job on schedule and left my home clean. He obtained the required permit and met with the building inspector at the completion of the job. Recently, I called Edward on a Saturday afternoon after I had accidently cut through a Romex wire inside a wall leaving part of our home without power. He showed up early the next morning and quickly repaired the damage.

Edward was very professional. The job was completed in the agreed-upon timeframe. He would clean up at the end of each day, even though we weren't living in the house yet. He even typed up clear diagrams for all the circuits in the new panels and labeled items where needed. I would definitely use him again if we ever decide to do any other electrical modifications.

I had used Edward's services in the past (he upgraded lighting fixtures and installed a ceiling fan) so I did not hesitate to call him again when my kitchen fuses kept blowing out. It was right around Thanksgiving and I had a lot of cooking to do (!) and Edward wasted no time coming out to assess the problem and how to manage in the short term. He contacted me right after Thanksgiving to sign the contract and he started work the next week. Edward is the consummate professional - extremely knowledgeable about his craft, courteous, willing and available to answer any questions and a just a pleasure to work with. The work was done on time and done well. The permit and inspection went off without a hitch. I want to point out that Edward is always willing to go the extra mile ... an outdoor light was also acting up at the same time and he was more than happy to take a look and fix that also.
Description of Work
I needed an additional circuit into the kitchen which required upgrading the exiting panel. Edward installed a circuit indoor subpanel, new breakers, transferred the existing circuits to the new panel (and kept the existing panel as a junction box) and installed one 120V-20A circuit from the new panel through the crawl space with a new commercial grade receptacle for the microwave.
