DE ANZA WATER CONDITIONING

I first called De Anza for a presentation of their product.   The owner came to my house and explained to us all about the Kinetico system and insisted that we needed the top of the line product.   I loved the concept Kinetico uses, no electricity and less water, yet the system seemed high priced.    I later bought a third party used Kinetico system and called DeAnza asking them to check it out and install it.    They were very professional and gave me an installation quote over the phone.    I made an appointment.   DeAnza was in communication with me about the appointment at all times, even to reschedule it four days in advance.   The day came, Chris showed up and did an awesome installation and explained all about the system and the different salt I needed to use.   After Chris left, I realized I was not sure if the outdoor water bibs were hard or soft.   I called Chris and asked him to come back and test them for me.   An appointment was made and another fellow showed up on the day of the appointment, on time.  He did the tests and confirmed all the outdoor water bibs are hard water.     

I had a great experience and I will use them again in the future

Our every interaction with De Anza was frustrating, at best.  From missed sales appointments to unreturned phone calls to leaks!! De Anza dropped the ball.  We were suspicious going in, based on the lackluster performance of the sales guy (John, a co-owner) but we decided to go for it because it was the only way to get the best water conditioning system.   Ian, the other owner, is the guy in charge of installation and customer service.  When Ian called to ask me if I would mind delaying the installation, he said he'd be in touch with me about a new intsall date.  I didn't hear from him again until I called him, starting a pattern that would play out over again in the weeks to come.  The plumbers (a subcontractor) came to install a bypass from the main water line and although we didn't know it at the time, they created a leak under the house.  Not only that, but they then put a drip tray under it!!  I can only guess they assumed the homeowners would never go under the house.  Unbelievable. 

De Anza had to install two water conditioners because the first one was defective and blew bits of carbon through our plumbing system...the installer assured me there would be no repercussions.  I was suspicious, and rightly so...we later understood why when our pipes started banging.  Ian from De Anza came out, turned off the water softener, and then told me that if I still heard the knocking, it wasn't from the water softener.  Puh-lease - I told him we didn't have the knocking before his guys were here, and we did after they left.  Doesn't take a genius to connect the dots here.  Well, Ian didn't have his coveralls with him so he couldn't go under the house to investigate (seriously? you don't bring the tools to do your job?) - instead, he sent someone out a few days later.  In the meantime, my husband went under the house to do some sleuthing himself and discovered the abovementioned leak.  Trying to get the leak and the knocking fixed was like trying to pull teeth.  Ian didn't return phone calls, and basically ignored me until his office staff gave me his cell phone number.  It was very apparent the guy didn't want to be doing his job. 

Eventually, we had the leak and the knocking fixed - the whole process took about a month.  Turns out the knocking WAS caused by the water softener - the first, defective one that was installed blew bits of carbon into a plumbing valve. 

Bottom line - if you can find another supplier to get you the Kinetico system, go with them.  Otherwise, be prepared to grin and bear it...and watch everything they do with a hawk eye!

We were blown away by the professionalism of De Anza Water Conditioning from start to finish. John came out to provide us with an estimate - which was exactly the amount we expected (a friend installed the same unit and got the same price about 1 year prior). John had a fantastic attitude and explained every detail of the Kinetico system and the installation process to me and my husband. (My husband is an engineer - and he can ask a LOT of questions.) We were able to get the unit installed within a couple of days. The installation went extremely well: on time, clean, fast, efficient. The installers took me through all the work they had completed to make sure I was satisfied. Then John CAME BACK! in a couple of days to make sure HE was satisfied with the installation! I was very impressed. Initially we had some hiccups and gurgles from the air that is introduced into the water supply during installation (we were warned of that in advance) but after about 2 days we enjoyed dramatically improved water quality and water pressure. We've had it for a few months now and we continue to be very happy. We would highly recommend this company and product!

I WAS TOLD AT THE TIME I ORDERED THE SYSTEM THE WATER WOULD BE PERFECTLY SAFE TO USE FOR COOKING AND DRINKING, SO DID NOT NEED TO INSTALL A REVERSE OSMOSIS SYSTEM, SO I DID NOT. THEN I LEARNED THE COLD WATER AT THE KITCHEN SINK WAS NOT USING THE SOFT WATER, SO COULD NOT BE USED FOR DRINKING OR COOKING, BECAUSE THE WATER HERE IN MORGAN HILL HAS PERCLORATES, AND SHOULD NOT BE USED FOR DRINKING OR COOKING. THE ONLY WAY A HOME OWNER CAN GET THE PERCLORATES OUT OF THE WATER IS WITH A REVERSE OSMOSIS SYSTEM. THE SALES PERSON DID NOT KNOW WHAT THE CONDITIONS WERE IN THIS LOCATION, AND TOLD ME HE HAD BEEN IN BUSINESS HERE FOR OVER 20 YEARS. HE WAS TO DO A WATER QUALITY TEST AFTER THE SYSTEM WAS INSTALLED, BUT WHEN I MENTIONED THE PROBLEM, HE PROMPTLY LEFT MY HOME WITHOUT REVEALING THE TEST RESULTS.
