Description of Work: Imre and Gabor are a father-son team. They responded to an Internet questionnaire I submitted when looking for both an architect and a contractor. Their attentiveness during the period wherein I choose the architect and developed the plans for my house remodel resulted in my hiring them as my building contractors. Imre supplied input on the architectural plans, helped get all the necessary permits, helped me through the maze of city bureaucrats and fees, both supervised and provided physical labour for all stages of demolition and reconstruction, advised me on every problem encountered (cracked foundation, termite damage, shrinkage of the original frame and floors), assisted me in shopping for new appliances and every aspect of new materials needed (from double-pane windows to door hardware, from cabinet knobs to granite countertops, from garage door to patio pavers, from bathroom fixtures to closet cupboards), and worked closely with me in keeping costs down even while the project increased in scope. (What was to be a remodel with a new addition became almost a complete tear-down due to the structural damage discovered during the initial demolition. New foundations were poured for the 3 new areas of the house: Great Room, Master Bath, Walk-in Closet. The original foundation was repaired and reinforced. New ductwork was installed and sealed. Exterior water run-off/evaporation system installed. New plumbing installed throughout the house. Ditto electrical wiring. House was wired for Internet. All existing framing was reinforced. New roof installed, with new skylights. New patio installed - with Imre laying the pavers individually by hand himself. All new interior walls, ceilings, and flooring. New windows and doors throughout. New insulation in ceiling, floor, and walls. New exterior stonework facing. Custom-built cabinetry throughout. Kitchen expanded and remodeled. New access panels to attic and crawlspace established. Various load-bearing walls moved. Fire sprinkler system installed. Woodburning fireplace demolished; new gas fireplace installed. Laundry room moved to far side of house. Fencing repaired and remodeled. Complete repainting inside and out. New mulch bark applied to appropriate yard spaces. Gabor even helped me find a place to rent while my house was under construction, and worked "above and beyond" to ensure that the last nit-pick issues were resolved in time for the house to pass all the necessary inspections before I was scheduled to move back. Both Imre and Gabor were scrupulous about keeping the house and driveway clean and safe, trying to preserve as much of the landscaping as possible, and maintaining cordial relations with all my neighbors.
