"I sincerely regret that my client has ended up in this unfortunate situation. However, this client was advised in no uncertain terms to have his main electrical panel evaluated by a qualified electrical professional because it was of a brand known to be potentially defective and thus unsafe. Because it is within the main panel that aluminum wiring is typically identified, such would have been discovered during the recommended evaluation. Please remember that as generalist home inspectors, we are not required to remove covers or dissassemble components at any time and, particularly not if reassembling such components could be problematic or dangerous as was the case here. The bottom line is that clients should always follow the inspector's recommendations and not on a selective basis."
