Our 80-year old stucco home had a number of water leaks on the South-facing wall. After years of trying to fix the problem point by point we discovered there was almost no waterproofing paper behind much of the exterior stucco. We decided the whole wall needed to be torn down and rebuilt.
Enter JAB Construction and Jeff Bressler, the owner. I knew after the first visit that Jeff was someone who knew what he was talking about. I took three bids, and his was in the middle. I chose Jeff because I believed his experience and knowledge would pay off. I was not wrong.
JAB?s crew did everything right. They are some of the friendliest and most customer-focused contractors I have ever worked with. They showed up each day on time, went right to work and were patient, competent and skilled at their craft. They took great care to make sure our finished landscape was protected properly throughout the job and cleaned up well at the end of every day.
As with any big project like this, there are bound to be a few add-ons. Thank goodness I had JAB, because we found a significant dry rot problem during the demolition, which is within their area of expertise. It required work not on the original bid, and Jeff and his foreman were very consultative throughout the process, working through the details and achieving a necessary and cost-effective solution that didn?t break my bank.
Our experience with JAB Construction was fantastic! They are experienced, knowledgeable, responsive, friendly, and always focused on doing the right thing, not the quick thing. They worked well with other contractors I had on the job, as well as the City building inspectors. We will definitely consider them for other big projects in the future.

I have known Jeff for several years as a landlord, so naturally I asked him to do a remodel for me when I bought a new-to-me home.  I was grateful for him.  His work was fast and efficient!  This house was near 40 years old an quite a bit of it was original. Jeff did a beautiful job with the modernization of my home.  I am proud of it and love entertaining people now!

Jeff and his crew did not disappoint!  I live out of the area and could only check in occasionally on the progress of my project.  Jeff stayed in constant contact with me and immediately informed me of any and all complications, regardless if there was a change in cost associated with it or not.  His work was clean and precise.  Not only did he finish before our intended deadline, he came in a tad under-budget.  I will be using JAB for any/all of my home-improvement needs in the future!

They came out and did some work for me. The tech was professional but wasn’t thrilled about doing the work. I had a few things I’d like them to do a few small things around the house, but I felt like he thought the work was beneath him. There were a few things that needed to be done that they didn’t complete. They also didn’t fulfill the entire amount of time I’d paid for, but I was so unsatisfied that I didn’t want to mess with it any more.
Response from JAB Construction Co Ltd
"He was not sure exactly how he wanted to use the coupon, so I suggested that we make a list of the items on the Job Proposal, I would break out the costs, so he could pick & choose. Some of the work he had on the list was significantly more than the coupon would allow & some of the items were just small fix it items, he selected some of the small items, with the work he selected there was some time left, I told him when he chooses another project we could apply the remaining couple of hours to any other work. To this date we have never heard from him or had any type of contact. We do all types of projects large & small no job is too big or too small. If he felt I was not interested that was not my intention, I was only trying to get down all the information, make suggestions as to how best spend the time on the coupon & some of the work he was suggesting to do would take way more time & materials than the coupon would allow for & he was perfectly clear that he did not want to go over the time allowance & would not pay for additional labor. The work we perform is always to the best of our abilities & we always give a guarantee on our work, but we are licensed General Contractors with liability insurance, workman's compensation insurance & overhead, we are not a handyman company, as I think he thought we were..... I apologize for any misconceptions and we are still willing to return & use the time on another project.... Jeff Bressler, President JAB Construction Company, Ltd."

JAB performed a kitchen renovation/expansion that included adding about 20 ft2 to the kitchen by pushing out one corner.  We had arranged ahead of time for the design work with an architect and engineer.  We had also arranged for a cabinet layout with a cabinet shop since we knew they carried cabinets that matched our existing ones. JAB came in with the best
price from several estimates we had received. We appreciated that the estimate was sufficiently detailed and JAB was
flexible with regard to how we chose to control costs.  After obtaining price estimates for floor installation and countertop installation we chose to work with the flooring vendor for floor installation, but went with JAB for countertop installation.
The project was projected to take 2 months.  It took a bit longer and in fact there were some surprises along the way.  The first
surprise was before JAB started the job. They were scheduled to start on a Tuesday morning.  On Monday we confirmed by e-mail that we were still on schedule to start the next day between 8 and 8:30, and we stayed up late emptying cupboards in preparation. Jeff and Geoff arrived at nine the next morning to tell us that they were delayed for a week due to some unplanned
issues on another job. Not a good way to start, especially after we had confirmed the previous day.
Once the work began there were some further surprises.  There was dry rot under the removed exterior stucco and a structural beam that wasn?t considered in the original plans that needed to be raised above the ceiling. Those issues were dealt with, working with the architect and the building inspector to ensure structural integrity and code compliance.
Communication was sometimes a problem.  There were times when I couldn?t reach Jeff by email or phone.  Synchronization
between JAB and the cabinet contractor was unclear.  Electrical layout and directions to the electrician was poorly coordinated.  The electrical contractor had to make multiple visits to complete a simple job.  Although we had provided clear
specifics on the countertop selection, the countertop slab was not ordered until the cabinets were completely installed resulting in a delay of several days. The existing sink was determined to be incompatible with the new countertops only a few days before planned countertop installation, requiring a rush to find a new sink.
In the end we got exactly the kitchen that we wanted with very good workmanship. The project took a few weeks longer than planned, but some surprises did arise.  The project could have been conducted in a more coordinated and efficient process, but
perhaps that is just part of working with contractors who are running multiple simultaneous projects.   We would
consider hiring JAB again considering the quality of the end result, but we?d have somewhat altered expectations.

What started out as examining a few cracks in the wall stucco of the car port under the deck turned out to be extensive dry rot damage to the frame work under the deck including the corner post; the stairwell, and the stucco walls. Jeff Bressler and his excellent crew over a period of several weeks removed the damaged walls and piece by piece rebuild the frame work, replaced the deck, and sealed off any possibility of future water leaks. The job turned out to be a lot more expensive than I thought it would be, but Jeff in a series of work orders, explained each phase of the work and I had no reason to question his integrity.I thought the job could have been completed sooner than it was. Part of the problem was the availability of the subcontractors e.g. concrete and stucco work. Also a question as to whether Jeff had enough resources to devote to the job. We were fortunate that the seasonal rains had not occurred. I don't think we would have found a more professional contractor.

Jeff is a professional and his word is hisbond.  He and his crews were on top of the project from start to finish, alsways arrived promptly, were polite and cleaned up after each day.  On a project of this magnitude you have to expecft some glitches, and Jeff took ousr in stride, always with a can-do attitude and good practical advice along the way.  I had a tight time schedule and 6 other contractors told me it couldn't be done, but Jeff was game and he more than held up his end of the job.  A couple of his sub's did work I wasn't happy with (it happens and I'm picky!) and Jeff was very fair in how he handled those few instances.
I would recommend him wholeheartedly to do major or minor renos.

Unfortunately, our project with JAB did not end on the best of terms.  We felt the "estimates" given to us was unclear and deceptive, although we didn't realize this until after work was done (which was our fault - we should have had our questions about pricing answered before hiring).  Of course, JAB does not agree.  We also had an issue with punctuality, but in all fairness - it's rare a contractor/subcontactor is ever on time.  The work that was completed was clean, I will give them that.  All in all we would not use them again, but that is mainly because the experience left a sour taste in our mouth.  Fairly certain these issues could have been avoided if both parties were more clear in regards to pricing.

As a new home owner when I saw my wooden floor buckled and stained, I was shocked and had no idea on what to do.
I contacted 4-5 construction companies and each one had one or the other views about the problem. Most of them wanted to perform some repairs and provided estimates. Then, I called JAB Construction. Jeff answered the call and wanted to check it out right away. He was very courteous, punctual and most importantly honest in expressing his views about the problem. He asked me questions to understand the history of the issue, checked inside & outside of the home and concluded that there is nothing wrong with the structure / foundation. I had a bed in the affected area and he suggested that someone have spilled water / something which might have caused the issue and suggested to wait sometime and see if the issue reoccurs. He offered that if I'm too concerned, engage a hardwood floor guy to take out the wood floor to check the problem.
He was so logical and explained me in layman terms. I was very much relieved with his analysis and decided to wait.
I would definitely engage him for my future needs.

Overall, the work was perfect.  We are quite pleased with the quality and appearance of our new kitchen.  The construction personnel were extremely competent and knowledgable about their work.  When we had questions, they were answered on the spot.  They also offerred constructive advise on how to improve the final product.
The owner of JAB was extremely helpful during our selection process for the new granite countertops and the kitchen cabinetry.  His suggestions where to go and what to look for were extremely helpful in our making quality decisions in a cost effective manner.  We really appreciated his wanting to assure that we were completely happy with the final product.
Even thoiugh we rated JAB a "B" for punctuality, there was enough blame to go around for the slight delay in the finished product(i.e.cabinets were backordered and not delivered on time, we were slow in selecting the countertops).  The project was to take 2 weeks but actually took about 3 and a half weeks.  We were made aware of the problems as the project progress and the company expedited the work as quickly as possible.  The job personnel were committed to our jobsite during the process and were not shifted away for other work.
All in all, this was an excellent job experience for us.  We highly recommend JAB without reservations.

I purchased a deal from Jab construction of 7 hours at $40/hr. I was not able to use it for what I originally purchased it for but I was able to use it. The gentleman who came to my house was very professional and did a great job. It took the company a little while to get back to me but overall the service was good.

Jeff came out to do an estimate on some work I wanted done around the house - the lionshare of which was the repair of a leaking window frame.  His team Elmo and Perfecto came out to do the work.  I was extremely pleased with the work they did and I really appreciated the fact that I could actually stay in my bedroom every night after they did their work (even with the plastic up on the windows).  They obtained all the matching paint (interior and exterior) and did a great job make it all look nice and neat.  I thought they went above and beyond the scope they quoted me and didn't charge me anything more.  I am looking forward to working with Jeff and his team on an upcoming kitchen remodel.

Jeff (the owner) evaluated the project and gave us some tips on what he felt needed to be done and what wasn't necessary.  He then took us to the hardware store and made sure we bought appropriate materials for the project.  After a few hours he left after making sure his worker knew what needed to be done and how to go about it.

The worker, Perfecto, was incredibly meticulous and very clean.  We were very happy with his level of care.

The only issue we encountered was having to go to the hardware store 5 different times for parts as needed.  Since this was an older property that was not maintained well by the previous owner, we kept encountering different issues.  Still, Perfecto was patient and made sure we knew what he needed to get the job done.

We will definitely keep them in mind for future projects.

They stuck almost day-for-day to their project schedule.  They were onsite daily.  Very courteous, kept a clean job site, and easy to work with.  Their onsite foreman was excellent.  Overall quality great.  We did have a couple issues with change orders that weren't quite communicated in the right timing, but ultimately those were resolved.Overall A and I would definitely use them again.

The finished product is every bit and more than I had envisaged. These guys share my eye for detail and when they handed me the shop it was pretty near perfect. We did have a few stumbles along the way as this is a concept shop and I was shifting things along the way. JAB adapted well and despite my alterations kept the final price pretty close to the original budget.

GREAT JOB GUYS! THANKS!

The project did not go well
Jeff did a good job accessing the project and seemed knowledgeable. Bid was reasonable, but not the lowest
He returned with his on site supervisor before the project was to begin and we reviewed all tasks.
These were all written down

Ont the day the project was to begin, a crew of 3 showed up, but neither Jeff now his supervisor were there
They crew did NOT know what to do.  I had to re-explain the project.

I the process of preparing the master bedroom for painting they broke a piece of furniture.
They claimed this was not their responsibility.  I was able to repair it

I tried to reach both Jeff and the supervisor without success until late in the day
The crew left the site.

Although Jeff offered to make things right, I went with another vendor, who was excellent
Fortunately Jeff had not picked up the deposit, so I did not loose cash.
I did waste a good deal of time

I would not use JAB for any work

"Our Clinets and their satisfaction are always are first priority, we value our clients time, opinion and try to solve any issues and work with them. Unfortunately this is not the case in this incident, first & foremost, I never met or dealt with the member, I only met with the other member on the initial visit, I spoke with him to arange the job & the particulars and dealt with him when there was an issue. We arranged to start the project on a Saturday (before Thanksgiving) to work with their schedule, I explained to him I will not be available until late on Saturday, but my foreman and workmen would be on site. They arrived as scheduled, there was furniture that had to be moved to paint the master bedroom. Apparently the bed frame was damaged due to it being improperly assembled while they tried to move it. After this happened the crew was instructed to leave, so they left. I spoke with him late in the afternoon, I expressed my appologies for any incoinvience and tried to re-scheduel for myself to be present & make sure there were no issues for the work to get done & I offered to repair the bed frame. I E-Mail him 3 times never had a response. Finally after over a week, I received the following e-mail response: (this was pasted from his e-mail response to me) Hi Jeff, Thank you for your continued interest in the project. We have decided to go with another vendor -Member All I can say is you can’t please everyone, but we sure try too…… My apologies to the members"

There were two or three different subcontractors that were completing the work, overseen by  JAB.  The crews were very professional and they did an excellent job replacing all of the defective work, with careful attention to detail. There was also some interior and exterior painting involved, which turned out very well. Any questions we had about the work were carefully attended to and resolved. We are extremely pleased with the overall outcome of this project. The crew also did a nice job cleaning up debris from our property as well as our neighbor's.  We would highly recommend JAB for this type of work.

Our large Master bedroom (addition, about 40 years old on concrete pad) had been leaking water from patio and side concrete path through French sliding doors and opposite wall, staining carpet badly, for a number of years. I had had numerous contractors over to try and fix the problem -- adding more and more layers of sealant outside where the stucco met the patio tile and/or concrete pathway down the side of the house. Nothing seemed to work. Jeff Bressler was the only specialized waterproofing contractor I found on Angie's List -- I was so impressed with his diagnosis of the problem and his prospective solutions, that I hired him on without getting any competitive bids. Jeff and his crew were professional and efficient from start to finish. I really felt I was in competent and professional hands for the first time. He not only completely fixed the problem, but ended up re-doing and fixing shoddy work of prior contractors, including the shoddy original installation of the sliding doors which had caused most of the water problems. I'm no construction expert, but I was there most of the time and could see, step by step, the quality work that was being done, and the top notch, quality materials being used. Jeff's crew were prompt, courteous and cleaned up well behind them. They were in constant touch with Jeff, and he would come over regularly to the jobsite to inspect progress and trouble shoot any problems -- and there were a few once the doors were out and things were more exposed. The finishing stucco and painting were excellent -- you can't tell where the old meets the new at all. I also much appreciated the (unpaid!) time Jeff took to answer other questions I had about the house, give the house a quick inspection all round, and give me suggestions on what to do to further waterproof and improve the house. JAB does a lot of commercial waterproofing work besides residential -- they are top-notch all round, and I would not hesitate to use them again and recommend them to anyone else.

Jeff spent time with me at various retailers/showrooms and helped me figure out what to buy (who knew there were so many varieties of sinks, tile and fixtures?!?!).  He allowed me to select the style but gave me helpful input regarding what to look for in particular items.  I now know more about tile than I ever thought I would!

Jeff's crew and subs are top notch.  They are very conscientious, responsive and take pride in their work.  They treated my elderly father with dignity, which I really appreciated.   When I found certain things that were not done correctly or that needed touch ups, Jeff and his peeps responded quickly.

I think the only major issue we ran into was that the medicine cabinet ended up not being recessed as I had requested, but it was not the end of the world.  The end product was still very nice.

I have already recommended Jeff to some very good friends of mine who are imminently closing on their first home.  I will definitely recommend him to others!

Jeff and his team did a great job on the siding. They worked hard and they cleaned up after themselves as they worked. The people on Jeff's team were very nice, polite, and respectful. Jeff was good at containing costs. He is also very approachable and explains everything. The project did take twice as long as we originally estimated. Part of that was due to the fact that more damage was found after all the old siding was removed. Part of it seemed to be due to the team moving off to other projects. Part of it was due to winter rains. One of the painters that was on the subcontracted team did poor work. But Jeff fixed it. Overall, I am happy and I would hire Jeff again. As a side note, we had a plumbing disaster on a Saturday shortly after the the siding was completed. It had nothing to do with Jeff at all, but I called him on his cell crack of dawn. He came over as soon as he could on Saturday and helped us assess what to do and also helped us find a good plumber and pick a solution. So I have to say that Jeff went far over and above in helping us in our time of emergency. I can't imagine any other contractor coming over so quickly on the weekend to help with something that had no potential give him more business. It was just a personal favor from him to us.

Jeff was great and very patient with me. It took a while for me to get the proper documentation and Jeff was happy to come out to my place and give me a quote 3 different times. He was always very honest and open about the process and what would be involved. He didn't try to sell me on any 'extras' or convince me certain things must be done. Once the paperwork was all squared away, he and his team came out to my place and began work immediately. Each day they left the place in a very clean condition. They took precautions against damage and completed the work much faster than originally estimated. I would definitely recommend them to others.

We were new the the remodeling experience and Jeff took extra time to walk us through options and make plans before getting started, which was appreciated. Jeff Bressler is a friendly contractor and the quality of the work was top-notch. He offered a very competitive price and assured that we were completely satisfied with the final product. The project had some set-backs, a few out of his control (e.g. weather delays) and a few that he could have avoided with the on-site presence of a good project manager (he fired his project manager shortly after the project initiated). We would have appreciated a bit more communication as additional work was identified (and associated costs) that would be necessary for the project. Obviously dry rot is difficult to identify without removing walls, but we felt some of the finish options could have been reviewed with us during the beginning stage as opposed to the final weeks of the project.
